  • Czech American version of "Beer Barrel Polka" ("Škoda lásky") or ("Rosamunde"), composed by Jaromír Vejvoda in 1925 is one of the most popular songs of brass music in the United States and is mainly associated with the Czech American minority. Americans of Czech ancestry whose heritage is cherised till today are living mainly in the states of North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, Illinois and Texas. In 1999 song won global competition World's song of 20th Century.

    Czech Michigander here, my family comes from moravia, and my great grandfather was in a polka band, he played the accordion, and he is the reason I want so dearly to return to the homeland at some point in the future, moravia is forever home.

      Czechs and Germans share the same culture and history. Czechia was part of the Holy Roman Empire and Prague was even the capital city of the Holy Roman and Czechia was a part of Austria for 700 years. So basically Czechs are only slavic speaking Germans
