Padrino- I really enjoyed the lesson regarding egungun. My life and purpose has improved since I’ve received this beautiful icon. Thanks for being such a great teacher and mentor. May God always bless you and your family.
Iboru Iboye Ibosheshe Baba Joseph IFÁ. Great information to build on. You really have expounded on a more in-depth understanding of Egun! Thank you Baba.
I watch your videos ❤️🌹 and Thank you so much 🥹 I am Cuban and was born in America it’s been work finding me amongst this mess and your videos help me so much. It aligns so much for me and helps me understand what my black American family couldn’t begin to teach me
I love the way you teach in story telling Baba Joseph. You are teaching invaluable information thank you very much!! Egun and the ancestors are my favorites!
Thank you for this video and all your efforts to share the wisdom of Ifá with all of the English speaking believers and practitioners. It's not always easy to grow in knowledge and practice living away from the culture and people. I value your commitment.
👋🏽 hi… really enjoy your videos.. can you talk more about the teja y bastón? There’s so many videos in Spanish.. can we get an English version from you. What it is, how to care for, the purpose of it. Thank you in advance Ashe 🔰
Very well done. I grew up seeing Egungun perform and know their place in Yoruba culture but not in the spiritual realm. I even remember some of the songs from childhood. Where ever the Egugu goes the Otoku goes. When we want to say two people are close we say thy they are Egugu and Otoku.
Iboru iboya Baba. Thank you for sharing the knowledge. This is great information for me. So much resignates I just moved to a new place and have put my teja in the back on my patio. My Eggun has asked me to get a parardo in my last ifa reading. It’s my Congo that wants to help me. This reminds me to pay more devotion to my Eggun Daily. wishing you and your ile good health and many blessings . Ashe’
aboru aboye abosise I am so happy you took the time to explain the importance of Egungun to people in the public forum and I found you lecture very full. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and I am sure people missed so many jewel you delivered because they can only see what the know. ogbo ato
Oh Joseph you just remind me of my grandmother who had a fracture, i take her for all kinds of medical treatment but to no avail. It was later they realise it was because she was not taking care of her Egugun.
I wonder if we can revisit and build on the Eggun-Egungun. I would be interested in hearing about types and also the process of working with them in a general way. You touch on it here thanks 🙏🏾 seems the possible is more rich too. Ibou iboya ibosise
@@JosephBabaIfa thank you 🙏🏾 for those of us who are not yet making Ocha- it’s an interesting experience, especially if you ‘pick up’ stuff often. So, any ideas will be helpful. Also- I’ve been missing getting motivated on Mondays… I hope your family is doing well.
It's amazing and beautiful that you have preserved this religion in the Americas. Your version is correct the colorful one, but it's a bit of a white washed version... the real history of egúngún is actually a very dark one, it's a vessel of war, consumes blood and palm oil by the gallon and carries a chain and a special kind of sword that destroys from a distance. Also the real form of egúngún is actually animal like with feathers and thick skin like a rhino's and it can move really fast, and hypnotise by its dance.
iboru iboya babalao, thank you for this video it was very informative. i have one duda and it deals with Chango being Oba Egun. i have been under the tutelage that Odudua is Oba Egun, even his icon which we know what it is with specific herramientas que no menciono aqui.
Some titles can be interchangeable. This is seen frequently where various Awo can have the same title based on their status and region. Another viewer actually commented recently saying their sibling’s Orisha name was “Oba Egun”, and they were a priest of Obatalá. All of these characters have a legitimate claim to this title. Oduduwa with being our primordial ancestor, and Sango being the one who manipulates this Orisa. Even the Orisa Oro is referred to this sometimes. Iboru.
Also, could you do a video on divination- I was introduced to agbon ; how do I know which questions to ask and do you have a structure to follow. I use the meat of the coconut to divine with Eshu. Should i use the shell for ancestral divination?
another question, I was told that egun or egungun wasn’t a orisha, that it’s just a word we use to reference the ancestors or spirits; or the whole concept of egungun. so where do we get the confusion of egungun being an orisha or not?
Depends on the professional you’re discussing the topic with. There is various Odu that speak of when Egungun came down from heaven to earth. This is a reference to “birth”, if you were born you were human, thus giving you the opportunity to become a deified ancestor, which he did. This is why people are able to be initiated into the mysteries of Egungun as priests, just like with any other Orisa, because he is Orisa.
Oba egun, a title you gave to chango, my brother is crowned obatala, his name in santo es oba egun, which really goes with his obatala avatar or that aspect of obatala, how would that happen? how can a title of chango go to a priest of obatala? i understand the connection between obatala and chango but still unless that’s a title than can be more interpreted as a way of having a king? if that makes sense
Orisha names are interchangeable. The title “Oba Egun” may be popularly associated with Sango, but can still be given as a name to an Olorisa who is not initiated into his mysteries. Especially Obatalá, who apart from being a king is closely related to Yoruba spiritual practice.
Iboru Iboye Ibocheche Baba...was watching your video on egungun...? I have both egungun and the tile w/Ota, I tend to egun everyday. After listening to your video: 1. can I place egungun with my tile and Ota? Can egungun receive sacrifice from a hen? Can egungun and eguns merge into one space since I ALWAYS give homage to my eguns...Can the Ota and the sticks reside on the same plate?....I thank you in advance.
Thank you for the video. I had a question. When I give offerings to my ancestors, is egungun recieving them or do I need a consecrated terra tile to offer them. I am a little confused. Egun is ancestors and egungun is fraternity of everyones ancestors.
In the video you mentioned that egungun and oro can’t be together but i see sometimes you see the teja de egun being on top or near oro, or am i confused? You call him oro but i know him by orun, are they the same? if so i apologize
Under no circumstances should Egungun or anyone not initiated into the cult of Oro be in his presence. How some people may have their shrines confectioned is not something I could discuss on a public forum such as this. Another conversation can be had, but credentials would have to be verified. “Oro” is the traditional name, in Cuba it became “Orun” both are legitimate. I recommend this video to clarify. Thank you for watching! ruclips.net/video/tI62Lt8UmY0/видео.html

So basically he is a egregore of all the ancestors consciousness. Like he is the embodiment and personality of the ancestors realm

What's the name of the odu you mentioned that talks about the type of wood the opa iku is name of? And what's the name of wood/tree?
Oyekun Meji, Atori

Oparadu is the formal spelling. Paradu or Paraldo, as heard in Lukumi practice, is also socially acceptable.
