Sermon #09. “Faith and Rewards”

In the last two messages on Christian Ethics we have looked at the three loves-Love for Neighbor, Love for Superior Values, and Love for GOD. Today, we are going to see the dynamic synergism of love and ethics. The one ingredient that makes love and ethics “Christian” is Faith. Consider, that in all ethics there are rewards. We have explored this in both secular and Old Testament ethics. Christian ethics present no “rewards” in the sense we are gaining something by our “good acts.” That is what this message is about.
This morning our thoughts will include Jesus’ words, Paul’s words, and the words of James as we see how faith and Christian love work together in a supernatural ethic.
