The game was known to buggy as hell, which included the Freezer. Whenever you'd see him, within seconds the game would start to bug out very very badly and the game would either end up crashing or just disconnecting you. edit: its mostly called a myth or creepypasta because of how unbelievable it sounds, but believe me its real.
"The Freezer" legend is an urban legend revolving around the 2008 action-adventure game Saints Row 2. When people began exploiting glitches in the game and finding ways to break past the limitations enforced by the code, a glitch was found in the "Zombie Horde" minigame that allowed the player to go out of bounds by getting blown up in a very specific way, essentially "riding" the explosion to the outside of the map. However, rumors began to spread that upon performing this glitch, a shadow-like humanoid being would begin chasing the player around and interacting with certain objects, acting like a ghostly specter until suddenly appearing very close to the player character, at which point the game would freeze. When the player would attempt restarting the game, they would be unable to progress past the title screen before the game crashed. Though primarily dismissed as little more than a Creepypasta, the glitch would quickly be documented by multiple people playing the game, and enough documentation was recorded that the Saints Row 2 playerbase would even go so far as to discover that the glitch most frequently occurred on the Xbox 360 version of the game. It was given the name "The Freezer" by fans as a reference to how it would freeze the game upon appearing. It was eventually deduced by players picking apart the game's programming and carefully examining it that the cause of the glitch was a misfire in the code for character spawning that would cause a background character, normally portrayed as a 2D shadow rendered far away from the player character to give the impression of a distant pedestrian, to load in right in front of the player. It would activate a bug in the code causing the whole game to crash, as well as permanently screwing up said code and leaving the game unplayable from there on out.
