cold temps break plastic, regardless of boards. Tires spinning on the boards will wear the plastic down in seconds. This is part of the game. You are supposed to crawl over the boards, not spin on them. I know it's hard or impossible at times, but it's just how it is.
I could watch this all day, love off-roading in snow!! I have the exact same truck as you and though i don’t have much use for airbags I am considering getting them just for that reason alone!!
What a fun video. The awesome power of those trucks, wow. As for the review, well, the best part was at the end "the straps" 😆 that was 👍 great. Watched to the end. ✌️out.
What you needed there to get you out in a snap was a tractor type vechicle or a tracked vechicle like a caterpillar , those boards are not meant for such extreme conditions, sunk down to your floorboards in snow!! Must say that GMC is one powerfull truck 6.2 L V-8...no wonder! Don't bash that much older model Ford compare it to contemporary top tier Ford models!
You should never use a ball hitch for recovery watch a video were a off road recovery guy was showing the limitations of ball hitchs used to pull out stuck vehicles and he also was sharing a tragic story of a ball hitch breaking at the weld and flying through the windshield of the stuck truck and killing the driver.
I was thinking of this the whole time you guys were pulling and went to grab the link. I'd suggest pinning it at the top of the comments. Here's the video: ruclips.net/video/Mb3BkeeXlIo/видео.html
I would definitely be careful pulling people out with a trailer hitch. I’m sure you have seen the videos of them turning into projectiles . Entertaining video too!
Same exact tires. I had a little less air in my tires and I lifted part of my suspension with my airbags. That aside, I am probably just a better driver or better shoveler 😂
Just happened across this older production... so I had to toss out my 2 cents. Clearly the air bags had something to do with your success and starting off with reduced tire pressure could have helped too. I would attribute the majority of the AT4's success to the driver. On that day Don was clearly the better man. I have driven on the OBX beaches. If one reduces his tire pressure to 20 psi they can drive anywhere on the soft beach sand. I tried it once at 30 psi and stuck the truck quickly. A bunch of local teenagers and their father dug me out and reiterated again... 20 psi. I dropped the pressure another 10 pounds and never again have I ever been stuck on beach sand. It may be worth a try in your snow?
Here is the initial install. Made by Putco. Since this video stock has been hard to come by. Probably a coincidence 😂. ruclips.net/video/qulcmUYdgog/видео.html
Glad you noticed! I feel like I need to use each of my vehicles for the things they are designed for. The AT4 is supposed to be half decent at off-road activity and also feel like a luxury truck on road that can tow its fair share.
Funny story, the maroon F-150 that showed up to help was on a first date (according to the driver). He was stuck just as fast as the rest of us. I presume it was not ideal for her.

your right the cold temps weren’t helping those boards any

I’m at a los for words…😂. 47 is the new 16! 😂
Exactly 👍
Snow wheeling is a lot of fun in these trucks, they definitely like to dig trenches though. Always bring all the recovery gear all the time. 🤟
It’s like you were there with us! Definitely check out this video when it launches 🚀

What a blast!! 😅😅you need Corb Lund playing the background 😂

Awesome, another great video Don.
Thank you sir

Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it
Great video, Don! The dashcam footage at 3:12, is that the nextbase 622GW?
Thanks, but that’s actually a GoPro Hero 9 affixed to the roof and it self levels the footage
Misery loves company. I can only imagine what your Transmission temp got to and the wear and tear.
I monitored the transmission temps. Let it cool down before any overheating. Engine was fine. I am sure sitting in snow and ice helped

I agree. We did use shackles and clevises as much as possible
@@Donslife if you would have just bought tracks for your truck you wouldn’t have got stuck! Haha 😁
where did you get your grill with the colour match surrounding piece; mines the standard at4 chrome looking bit.
And this is why I have a winch on mine.
I also carry 4 boards under the toolbox, kinetic rope, straps, both kinds of shackles, shovel and snatch block. I’m fixing to order chains too
I will eventually accumulate more rescue gear
@@Donslife yeah but hey y’all had fun and no one was hurt so that’s a good day man
The AT4 seemed to do better than the trailboss. Why do you think that is? Different tires? What tires are on your truck again?
Same exact tires. I had a little less air in my tires and I lifted part of my suspension with my airbags. That aside, I am probably just a better driver or better shoveler 😂

I like making videos like these too. I hope you enjoy enjoyed it
Nice u had your airbags to lift the rear up a wee bit more 😎
It saved me from digging the back half out 😆
Them fords trying to rescue the day 🤣 🤣. Jk awesome video
You got that right! 😂 Oh ya, I own a FORD too 🤔
+1 for the Duratrax tires too.
It doesn’t matter how noisy they are out here! 😝
Where did you get your brackets from for your pod lights up by your hood and windshield
He has a video right before this one

Hahaa, good stuff!
Time to get some bigger tires and drop them to 8 psi, then you can really get into some trouble . 🤣 🤟
I would need a big lift for big tires on this truck 😂
At4 to the rescue!!
nice video
Thank you! It’s fun to make a variety of content
Scuba Steve, huh? Lol!!
Seemed appropriate. He loves it 🤿
@@Donslife it's awesome! Lol
Your wives are going to see this and you’ll not be allowed to go out and play together anymore!
At least I wasn’t late for dinner! 😂

Must be a Saskatchewan thing 😂
