      Almost identical, don’t forget there are few pickups positions. There’s more ideology than should be. Even new Strats Player Plus are amazing instruments and most of guitarist wouldn’t guess which is Player and which is Custom 🤷🏼‍♂️ You can get better materials, quality and setup but they would sound almost the same.

      Except for the telly strat they all sound almost exactly the same. If you just rolled the tone back on the brighter one it's going to sound exactly the same.

      Every player forgets the simple fact that for 99% of players, their end goal is to play for others, who have no idea what a guitar is supposed to sound like unless they play themselves, and in a live scenario, with no reference, they can't tell the difference.

      Yep. Wood really does have an effect on tone. Even if it's subtle. You can hear the difference between an alder body and a basswood body strat pretty distinctively.

      @@BlakeSpohn pickups make the difference. Five guitars with five different sets of pickups will reproduce what they are in any amp. Yes,
      the amps will all sound different, but the pickups will have the same characteristics in every case.
      Vintage pickups will sound like vintage pickups no matter what amp you use , etc.

    (1) 90% player, 10% instrument
    (2) 90% player, 10% instrument
    (3) SORT of a strat - HSS so…
    (4) Strat shape - not a strat
    But with all the possible pickup and tone combinations on strat/strat style shapes it’s more important that we all just enjoy our instruments and the music we make 😊

      with 3 HSS doesn't really matter cause it's on neck, and the 10% instrument is really 90% instrument, they had different sounds, and similar things were played. Both used the neck pickup and I'd assume the amp and settings is the same

      They do really all sound like same. I got a Amer deluxe plus with 3 color Lace Sensors. Even though 3 colors and 3 different positions each does have very similar sounds. It's the TBX tone and playing style that changes sound for me. I've always said about this Strat is its versatility is great except the hard rock sound. Needs pedals or better yet, I use my Les Paul studio w/ 496-500 pups. Not a real good clean sound but can ROCK hard without pedals.

      @@chetwilson it looks like it but watch again and pay attention to the position of the pickup selector he uses the middle position that integrates two pickups one time and one guitar looks like it’s telecaster pickups not a Strat so it’s obviously not going to sound similar what’s the point of this exercise if not to compare the same pickup position on different Strats of course different guitars with different pickups or positions of pickups don’t sound the same 🤷‍♂️ sorry to state the obvious but that is the point of more than one pickup on the same guitar lol

    1 gives you a blend of 2 and 3, 2 is a nice classic warm tone, 3 give that new shiny tone and 4 is just a tele

    Great video! I think all Strats share Strat like qualities, however, each one also has slight differences in tonal qualities.

      I very well could be wrong but It looks like all but the last is on the 4th position which would be why they all sound similar cause the middle pickup is on.added Middle pickups is what give it that distinct bright compressed ice pick ⛏ sound.. besides the tele one is in the middle position

    The tele-strat is the only one that had a different sound imo. The signature sound of the instrument itself, even through different mods, shines through. Glassy and distinct.

    there is so much difference in tone, its just a rumor cause even the wood the fretboard is made out of can affect the tone a lil, also not every strat has the same pickups and finally theyre all made differently and by completely different people sometimes making every strat its own work of art, thanks for reading this, strats are a work of art and have a kinda base tone but every strat builds upon that in its own way

    The 63 sounds a like a lot more clarity and less noise and then the 4th guitar gives me that bright tone. Imo it’s up to the player to decide what tone fits their play style the best

      Bro it’s not hard, he’s just strumming on a basic pentatonic shape on 5th, 4th and 3rd strings starting at 7th fret then moving to 9th fret. You can definitely do it just watch his fret hand transitioning.

      Same pickups and same strings, I doubt there would be any notable difference.
      Personally, what matters most is feel and playability.

    Dude!!! they sound identical. Little to no variation. With exception of the Tele strat slightly different. Tone is in the fingers and the amp the guitar has little to nothing to do with it. You are a sick player and I love the positivity in your videos. I would never want to discourage such a unique person. Keep kicking butt my dude. 😊

    Comes down to electronics (pickups/amps). You'd have to olay the same exact set up from different strats to see if there's a different.

    The “Donner” green start sounded the best to me, slightly warmer than the others, I don’t know how to convey my thoughts as I’m not a guitar player other than “sounded warmer”

    The strat is the most versatile guitar out there, I love the tonal possibilities of them with the pickup selection and combination plus use of the tone and volume control to really tweak it 🤘🤘

    From my experience, the other thing aside from pickups that affect sound is the guitar itself, what wood the neck is made of, the bridge type, the body, the string gauge etc.

    The first two sound identical but the third one had a really nice twang and full sound profile and the tele strat had a nice echoing reverb to it

    They all have the same timbre (just some warmer or brighter) except the tele-strat, which was also my favorite.

    All sound amazing BUT the third guitar has that classic glassy strat sound

    They sound close enough that a bit of eq tweaking at the amp should be enough to recreate each one.

    Actually, I just want to say that your playing sounds really nice. As for the tone test, I think you could make about any Strat sound the same through simple tone knob or amp settings.

    I think that custom sounds the “best” to me be but that Donner Teal one has a really great sound to it! They all sound great but that teal one is my favorite

    MiM sounded the best to me. Love the way you played it. All those little scrapes and rhythmic picking was amazing🎉🎉🎉❤

    It’s the pickups. The first two were both all single could so they sounded the same. The third one was a humbucker and 2 double so it had a bit of a lighter tune to it. And the last one was a telecaster pick up so it sounded a little deeper

    They all have different sounds, but if you aren’t comparing side by side then I can understand why people think they sound similar. They have their own small different tweak and accent

    There are subtle sound differences that are more prominent in the last two but definitely the difference is there

    They all have slight differences but the majority of that can be attributed to the difference in pickups from one to the other.

    I do hear subtle differences at least with the last one. It sounded brighter, less rounded.

    You should use the bridge pickup in tests like this. Gives the best indication of the differences.
