Watching Calcutta Refurbished .. all 3 of them, has convinced me of one truth : real heroes live quiet lives of anonymity, not craving anything but the joy of creating beauty. This work on Hemen & Company, a quiet institution, is much in the tradition of Calcutta, is all about substance, not about flash. The same is true of the makers of this film. This is the reason i like living in this city. Just knowing that there are brilliant craftsmen and poets and great cooks and grandmothers with fantastic sense of humour and clever wordsmith footpath typists makes me happy. Thanks, y’all.
I was hit by good fortune not long ago, when I found a sitar made by Hemen & Co. in a second hand shop, here in Canada! I am currently in the process of restoring this beautiful instrument. I can feel the exquisite craft and expression in every part of it. So very glad to see this video, where this lovely object of art was made! Thank you for all you do :-)
I was gifted a broken sitar, which turned out to be a Hemen... I personally restored it, to its original state, and it sounds so true, unlike any in my collection.
A person, everyone's Hemen da loved and respected by all. He used to tune and do juary of sitar of non professionals with equal care and love. Always remember this wonderful person .!!.🙏.
Excellant video.these esteemed artists should come to online ecommerce forum so that children like us get the best instuments to learn on.I came to know about Hemen n co from my esteemed Guruji Pt.Radhakrishna ,Bangalore.I am always in need of good strings and jawari every year.They should have a workshop in bangalore as well.

He is always talking about brand value so he charge heavy for the instruments…..but the bad thing is he is asking heavy for wires and other stuffs also.

The Google Reviews from actual customers render a terrible impression regarding the present dealings of this shop. Moreover, the replies from the proprietor seem to further strengthen the customer's feedback. I would not prefer to visit this shop any further.
