@@HamiltonvilleFarm it seems like an awesome working and functioning tractor and the extra parts work cool too
I enjoy watching a positive person that doesn’t swear. I also like details while building or doing a project.
I appreciate that!
Amen to that.
I subscribe after I’ve seen a few videos and realize I enjoy the content and want more. You’re one of my favorite channels because you’re just a good ole southern boy like myself and you get it done. I also appreciate you making it fun without having to do stupid stuff and using profanity like so many channels feel is necessary. Keep up the good work!!
Thanks Kevin. I appreciate it 👍
This is the first youtube channel I have subscribed to. I subscribed because I'm planning a pole barn lean-to and this video was exactly what I needed and saved me a lot of time researching. Regarding the question of adding water or not, my dad worked with concrete/masonry from about 1936 until the early 1990s. He taught me how to mix concrete and constantly complained about people mixing it too wet and also pouring dry concrete mix in a hole, even if you water it immediately. The problem is in order to thoroughly wet the mix, you have to over-water it, which weakens the concrete. If you just let nature do it, the concrete gets wet and cures at various rates, with the slowest being the middle next to the post. It's a lot like trying to get by with half as much concrete by shoving large chunks of concrete rubble in the wet concrete - the concrete loses it's uniform strength. Great video. I'm working on a list of materials now for a 12x30 lean-to. Watching your video really helped me realize how inexpensive this weekend project is.
If first one I watch is good I’ll watch another. If content is informative I will usually subscribe. Obviously if the presenter has a good personality it will certainly help. I believe you make quality, informative videos that are easy to watch. Keep it up.
Thanks for the feedback 👍
You asked about subscribing and why people did it. I watch for content and relevance. As far as relevant content, there was about 3 minutes in this video. Some of the more important parts were skipped entirely-the ledger board, the rafters, the metal roofing itself. Sorry.
I subscribe when I see it’s helpful to me in my interests. And the person is not a dumba*s. No worries, you boys are great.
Keep doing what your doing. Thank you
Thanks Dave. I appreciate the feedback
Content and personality. If it’s a channel I watch all the time, like at the beginning, else usually in the middle or end.
Thanks Mike. 👍
This video should’ve been called “how to set up a motion light“. Every time I stumble across your videos I always pass them by because I never get the information I’m really looking for.
I know the feeling, it rained on me too when I was trying to build my lean to. Looks like your going to have a nice place to park your implements. And I really like the idea of putting your implements on pallets. Good Video!
Thanks for watching!
I start following folks when I see honesty and content that is fun and uplifting. I enjoy all of your videos. Looking forward to your next video.
Awesome! Thank you! I appreciate the comment.
I subscribed because we need a lean to. We have a large shop but only have one car and a boat inside. We need more room.
Perfect timing 👌👍🤣
I follow you as I was watching one of your “will it start” videos ages ago - love the content, keep up the great work!
Thank you Robert we sure appreciate that. Have a good day
Nice vid guys (: well done. Can't wait for the next part.
Thanks! 😀
I subscribe if the content matches what I need for my project, sometimes halfway into the video, but usually towards the end. I appreciate your video, it was very helpful as I am attaching a lean to onto my barn to store firewood
I subscribe to a Chanel when the content is explained well. And/or semi destructive.
You did an excellent job, and the flood lights look great. 👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you sir
On your posthole diggers, the spot where they transition from square to round is supposed to be 24".
This comes in handy, I’m getting ready to build a lean to this spring. Thanks for another great video
Thanks for watching 👍
Came and subscribed when I was searching 4540s. Stayed for the content like this video.
Thanks JK. I appreciate that
I like when you and yourwife are funny you twojust help make my day love watching you work your new tractor
Thanks. We appreciate that 👍
Usually two to three videos in then I subscribe
Thanks for the feedback
I subscribe after I see multiple videos with content I need.
I'm curious how you supported the back of the lean to against the wall... did you beef up the inside of the barn wall somehow?
I subscribe when i see the content, plus the attitude of the you tuber. You guys killin it so far.i like the fact you change up things. Working on trucks/ tractors to like now home projects etc.
Thanks Vic. I appreciate it 👍
We cross our trailer chains because when their crossed the tongue of the trailer will catch on the chains and keep the trailer from destroying itself dad was driving the Mack roll of truck with a tag trailer and he would have lost the trailer if the chains weren’t crossed. I know some people don’t like being told what to do but this can seriously save lives. love the videos👍, I always subscribe when I like what their doing and they know what they are doing even if it’s wrong.
Thanks. I used to do that with my chains. Maybe I should start back👍
I subscribed 'cause I feel at home with y'all, you cover a variety of subjects, and, you have a sense of humor, then there is your family as well. Doc Mike USN FMF
Thanks Michael. I appreciate it 👍
I subscribed after seeing that you were teaching about what I wanted to learn
Right on. I appreciate the feedback
I subcribe because you two are christians Praise God for you two
We appreciate that. God Bless.
I primarily use Portland cement and mixed it up with my dirt and basically make my own natural concrete with it and let the moisture and groundwater Harden it. Three-foot hole normally used about five shovels scoops of Portland cement mix it real good with my dirt and then hand Tamp it around with a tamping rod and just let it sit rain moisture excetera will make it hard
Wish my gumbo would dig that easy.
I usually use a sonotube and rebar or a form and rebar down the hole and fill the rebar reinforced column with concrete and place a post holding bracket in the top of the column. It cost a bit more, but since the post never touches the ground it doesn’t rot out.
Thanks for taking the time to watch and make the comment. I truly appreciate it! Have a good day.
Absolutely the best most professional long term way to go!
Hey there Hank & Gina. Enjoying your video. I subscribe after viewing several videos to determine if I enjoy the content and sometimes subscribe if asked by someone I'm already subscribed to who endorses your channel but I want to see their videos first. Good job on the lean-to. Good, the Branson is pulling its weight. Full-watch. Have a fine weekend. 👍🏽🙂.
Thanks Don. I appreciate it 👍
I subscribed for the Mahindra videos. But even though you swapped brands I am still watching. Lol. Oh and I use concrete and water it down. Not sure what is best but I have a pole barn my dad built 30 years ago and he just put dirt around the poles and most all of them are rotten at dirt level. Fun for me.
Thanks Jeff. I appreciate it buddy👍
Nice video. You’ve got some easy digging there! In my neck of the woods I’ve got Pennsylvania rocks and roots and I dig everything with a bar and a post hole digger and sometimes it’s a battle. I learned a lot in spite of having no machines to use, so thanks.
I subscribed when i realized i liked your content. It also educates me on how to fix little odds and ends when they need it. Thank you!
Thanks for watching and leaving the comment 👍
Hamiltonville Farm cant wait to see what else you guys can teach me
I subscribe when I watch some of the video and they break down the steps of a build well
I subscribe after two of 3 vids I watch in a row and I’m hooked but don’t have time to watch more that day
Good to know. Thanks Allen
My question has been about the point in which you connect the 2x8 to the building. What do you about the gaps and leakage, water running down the wall during the rains?
It would be dealt with when you put flashing over the sheet metal roofing along with some type of caulk...
Looking good Hank, things are coming along down there, your hired!!!!👍🍒
Thanks 👍
Man, Gina works you hard brother! I’m exhausted just watching your video. 😂👍🏼
😂
I subscribed because I thought you and your wife were good people. You also explain things in plain english. If I lived down there we would be friends. Lots of cook outs.
lol. I hear ya buddy!
Enjoyed this video Hank. On you posthole digger you can use a Sharpie and mark off 18, 24 and 36 inches so you don't have to use a tape measure. When I saw all that water on the ground I thought you may have found that water line but then you said it had rained. On the subscribing question, it was so long ago I can't remember the specifics.
Thanks Terry. I should do that with a sharpie 👍
Anytime I dig a hole in the ground, it instantly fills with water here. And I'm like 5 miles from Hank. So I never actually add water to any concrete that I pour into the ground.
Usually subscribe if it’s something I like to watch or interesting. You remind me of two brothers I grew up with and we did a bunch of silly stuff. If RUclips was around then we would have been big hits lol. Need to replace that trailer hitch with a bulldog hitch. I’ve replaced all of mine even on new trailers. I usually pour the concrete in and water it in so it hardens faster that way my poles don’t move much while I’m working on it.
Thanks Danny. I'll check into those hitches. I need a more secure one for sure.
I subscribe after whaching the first video
Thanks for watching!
To answer your question I subscribe right away during the first video if I like the content and most importantly how it's delivered. Do you get straight to the point teaching or do you babble on forever lol I like your style.
I built a lean to like that off of my garage but I could never get away with 2X4's for rafters up here in NH, they wouldn't support the snow load. I used 2X6's.
Yeah I hear ya Charlie. We don't have to worry about that 😀👍
Saw your horse shoes hanging on the wall. Up here, we hang them for good luck. Hope you do the same. However, your shoes are upside down. You need to flip them so they will fill up with good luck. The way you got them-your luck will run out! Lol. You got a great channel. Greetings from Missouri.
Right on! I’ll try to remember to go flip it up
I follow a channel after i have watched a few videos and enjoy the content and/or find it useful to me love your channel
Thanks Jeremy. I appreciate the comment 👍
I subscribe when I want too learn, “how to” and find something/someone useful. Looking for someone who explains well.
How did you attach the ledger board to the metal and keep it flush?
I subscribe for 1 of 2 reasons. 1 if the project you are doing is simular to one that I,m doing I will subscribe. 2, if you explain your topics in easy to follow english and explain details on what you are working on.
Thanks Jerry
Spray paint stripes on your diggers a foot apart. Yes, add water.
Thanks 👍
I subscribed to this channel when I watched your marriage advice videos... 🤣
Lol. I need to bring those back. 😂
Nice project. Love that gooseneck flatbed trailer.
Thanks Scott 👍
What did you put in place to keep water out along the top of ledger board and existing metal wall?
Excellent video. Hope you disconnected the toilet from that old sewage line. :)
😁
Don't know if it was your intention to make it look easy but you did. we know though that that job was a whole lot more work than you showed. especially in this heat. haha that's why I leave those kind of projects for the winter time. I like using concrete and throw some water in it just to make it work faster and sometimes coat the bottom end of the four by four with tar or something to help protect it, more so actually from the bugs than the moisture. they say that the concrete will hold the moisture in but I'm not sure about that I just like having some weight as an anchor on the bottom of those posts in case it gets too windy.
Thanks for taking the time to watch and make the comment. I truly appreciate it! Have a good day.
Nice but what keep the water and or ice from running down the side of your barn?
great job, the lean to will keep those implements out of the weather
Thanks for watching Joey
Depends if i really like first video ill subscribe at end of the video
Wish you would have given more detail on actually building structure after you put up the facial board on building and post holes.
I subscribe when my BFF starts a RUclips Channel. 😂
This is true!
Make your chains as SHORT as you can and CROSS them. Crossing helps make them shorter and helps carry the hitch if it drops. And ALWAYS use a safety PIN in the latch. I trust the ball is the correct size for the hitch and if the hitch has an adjustment be sure it is adjusted tight to the ball. What happened should never happen. Only an operator or mechanical failure can cause a hitch to come off. Thanks for you video. First time viewer. When do I subscribe? Never. Sorry, I just watch on a regular basis the ones I enjoy but...
I burn/char the sections of post that go into ground to protect from rot, then concrete in place
interesting.
I've heard of that idea. I can see that it should certainly tighten the grain and preserve the wood. I seen a video of guy up in Canada and he built a log cabin. He then, built his own log rafters and used 1" plained lumber and charred it black. I don't know how long it lasted but it did resist water. I thought that was pretty neat. He didn't paint or oil the top side just took his propane weedburner and burnt it black.
Put your posts in a bin linner ( UK - name - US a garbage sack ?) Then put Concrete in and use " Post Crete " it gos hard in abot 15 mins !! Good stuff
Cheers from the UK
Ah, interesting
U want to know when a person subscribes 2 a site, well I am subscribing b4 u finish the lean 2, "How 2....."
Yes I subscribed to your channel the first time I came across it.
Thanks 👍
Being from Pa/Ohio we call them furring strips.
Same here sometimes
Looks good Hank! Have a good one!
Thanks John👍
Nice job on the lean to. Have to be interested in and enjoy content to subscribe.
Awesome, thank you!
Watched on early Saturday morning and I subscribe because of the banter between Hank and ur wing and camera woman Gina and the content especially the will it start videos shame u couldn't have save the backhoe beautiful piece of equipment
Thanks Lee. I appreciate it 👍
Nice video brother
Thanks 😊
I put concrete in the hole and fill it above the ground about 3 inches.
Right on brother 💪👊
When I like the content and it’s enjoyable
Thanks for the feedback 👍
How did you measure and make sure it was square
I subscribed after see you on Tony's channel and got a kick out of watching y'all starting the dozier and backhoe. I have always used concrete dry to set posts and I called the boards on top of rafters purlins. Purlins of a roof support the weight of the roof decking.
Thanks! And welcome 👍
BEST YT EVER GO GO GO
Thanks Ivan👍
I subscribe when I like someone. If I could have a beer/burger with a someone, I subscribe. As to setting posts, dump the dry mix in and lift it a bit to get to settle. if it's been really dry, i'll put a bucket with a couple 1/8 holes drilled into against it to let water trickle onto it.
That's a good litmus test👍
Nice video ! What is the size of your lean to ? Iam looking to add a 10w x16 l , how long was the 2x4 rafters you used ? I was debating on 2x4 or 2x6 for my 10 foot span
I go 2x6 for a 10' span
I subscribe when my interest is peaked
I subscribe when the material flows smoothly... due to a lack of attention span.
I put rocks in the hole first then the post. That way the end grain won't be in the wet dirt. Does it help who knows?
Thanks for watching 👍
I subscribed when I started seeing the will it start videos
Thanks. We will have more coming up
I tend to subscribe to a channel when it’s helpful information, something of interest and true documentaries. The video should be of clear understanding, good elocution, not purposely drug out just to fill time.
Right on thanks 👍
Great job y’all 👊. Humility is bad . No. Stripping.
Thanks y'all
I gotta like what I see and what I hear.
Right on👍
Oh ya you said you try to answer all the comments once you get so big of a channel that will be a problem lol so don't stress yourself out trying to answer everything buddy and on the sponsors and stuff if I was you I'd tell the company I'm going to be honest with my viewers about said product good or bad and if they still want you to show it then get as much as you can 😉
Thanks buddy!
On the livestream with Tony did you guys show each other your adjustables wrenches. FYI pressure-treated lumber is in short supply
lol
Hank did you have Ileen help you and what way did it lean too?
Lol
a trailer came unhooked with my uncle i see you like coton top
Yeah cotontop3 is a good dude.
Hamiltonville Farm yeah he is
Did you use the wrong ball size? Keep editing the slow spots people are sometimes not patient to wait. My frost line is 36 to 38 inches so 40 inch holes for my carport.
Nah, I've towed that trailer 400 times. I just hit a huge hole in the road. Bounced that sucker right off there. Thanks for watching 👍
I subscribe once I know the person knows what they are talking about and can share something helpful in their videos. I'm about to build a lean to on my pole barn so I wish you showed attaching the ledger board, how did you do it, if you had help, etc. Also why not use sonotubes vs open holes for the concrete, etc. I thought the majority of the video selling the light wasn't helpful. It wasn't what I tuned in for.
How did you create a seal against the wall for water. I have a metal building. I'm putting the 2x6 against the building
Flashing. We didn't seal it, but you could probably get away with silicone
Ok thanks I thought they had a flashing that contours to the shape of the building. I like that idea also
I subscribe when I see content I’m interested in. I check out the channels other videos to see if I’m interested in the other content then I subscribe. I like all the videos I watch. Now that you said that comments help too, I’ll be making comments too!
Right on. Thanks for watching 👍
Well, I see you DO have pallet forks. And it looks like you have the same results I have. How long does it take for your loader system to relax and let your pallet forks tilt down? I often use my pallet forks for a work surface, but I have to keep starting my tractor and leveling my forks or my work will slide off on the ground. I would say I get 15-20 minutes before the tilt gets bad enough I have to curl them back again. Apparently an interior seal leak since no fluid is apparent outside the system or on my 3rd fcn valve setup. Your comment will be appreciated.
I'd say that's quicker than normal. I have never actually see mine leak down, I assume it's because I haven't had them in the air without the motor running long enough. They all leak down, but 15 mins sounds a little fast. 🤷
Nice coupon offered.
Thanks 👍
Here I thought I had already subscribed and for some reason it didnt take
Well thanks for checking 👍
@@HamiltonvilleFarm yep I had no idea it didnt take when I'd done it the first time
I like to what I hear. Another thing to . You remind me of buddy of mine Chuck.
Tell ole Chuck I said "howboutcha! 😂
Me alegro que darle para delante y los aprecio muchísimo y veo todo y me alegro le mando un abrazo alos dos Marcelo de argentina
