  • What are bio-aerogels? They are ultra-light weight porous materials with very high pore surface area, based on natural polymers and not toxic. Tatiana Budtova, researcher, presents an innovation developed in CEMEF MINES ParisTech.

I want to work with this material. I am very curious if this can be combined with regular paper pulp from other plant based material like Abaca to make a type of thin sturdy insulation paper.
I also wonder if Abaca or Jute or other long fiber plant material might be able to make a sturdier aerogel. There are ways of pulping Abaca so that the fibers remain relatively long. So it seems that Abaca aerogel would be exceptionally strong.
If someone knows where I can ask questions, and find samples let me know.

Drop the music and mic up. I heard cellulose based bio aerogel is achieved thru supercritical cooling process. We we...
