One of the best bands of all time! Their music is just as fabulous today as it was in the 70s. Love the horns and the coordinated suit colors!! Kool's Brother, Ronald Bell, is too good looking!! ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️💜💙💚💛🧡❤
This song is so ill and funky, the Soul Train dancers are moving as if they are being shock with electric, all over their bodies. Yes, their music in those days was funky, jazzy with accents on instrumentals, improvisation with the whole band being lead and resting on Kools pulsating bass line. Summer Madness and Open Sesame are classics to this day. I personally don't think they sold out as someone said in their comments earlier. The times changed, and the music changed. The clothes we wore in the 70's, were out of style in the 80's. And even though their music may have changed, one thing remain constant and consistent; Kools funky bass line kept us dancing throughout the 80's. People wanted to dance, so they made music we could dance to, while keeping it tight with a soulful lead singer and rhythms, melodies and ballads that's better than 99% of the crap that's playing on the radio today.
Well.....the music being heard today is a result of what is in demand / desired - it's a reflection of people's music tastes of today - just wanted to make a note of it
It was a big pleasure not only buying them 8tracks to listen to these great bands in your rides and then you get to watch them on tv around Saturday mid day or late night on midnight special , American bandstand , etc. These days ....what’s out there on tv ? Hate ppl & Hip hop ... that’s a joke!!! In 70s it wasn’t like that that unless you come across ignorant stupidity. I’ll take Ohio players , kool & gang, Earth Wind Fire , etc over any hip hop BS ... This music created peace & love & dancing with each other among whites & blacks , Latinos around USA 🇺🇸 where hip hop created hatred , racism and victims from ignorance of words in hip hop..
The reason the VAST majority of so-called "music" today is crap is because it doesn't take much creativity to have some computer lay down a generic track, whereas back in the day, musicians ACTUALLY HAD TO PRACTICE PLAYING INSTRUMENTS, and that time playing with other musicians produced some incredible creativity and timeless classics, such as "Jungle Boogie" among other classic songs. Nowadays, it's some shitty genre called MUMBLE rap or Justin Beiber. Ugghhhhh! I'll always keep an open mind to something that sounds good, but finding music that has depth and sounds good nowadays is like waiting for Haley's Comet to reappear.

Damn straight! I saw the "oldschool" Kool & the Gang at Disneyland during this period and they were MINDBLOWING. Incredible rhythm section and overall a very sophisticated fusion of funk, rock, and jazz. When they took a sharp left turn into commercialism with "Celebration" the 'hood party was over. But God bless 'em, they paid their dues and it was time to make some big green.
