One thing not mentioned..... you're gonna need a little dock! That will work nice for fishing off of and pulling the little boat up to (you know you're going to buy that little boat!) Lol
For the dye you could get some cheese cloth and put the bags in the cheese cloth. The tie it to a string on the boat then drive around the pond towing the cheese cloth.
Ammonia and phosphate will improve over time. What you're seeing is a new lake, not much surface area yet for bacteria, and an early ammonia/ureal cycle. The aerator will absolutely help keep aerobic bacteria healthy. plants will also help to consume that so that you don't get overrun by algae. ammonia > nitrite > nitrate > nitrogen (as in the N in NPK)
Wow! High levels of ammonia in your well water. Could be from farm run off or a nearby municipal sewage treatment injection well. We have one of those down the street. They put it in after we moved here.
Thanks! It is getting there. Two more projects done since this episodes. We'll be publishing over the next week or two. ALMOST there! Hint....finishing the pond fill right now!! I'm excited.
Iv never done it but.... iv heard of people putting barley straw bales into ponds to naturally keep them clean from algae without harming plants or fish. Never tried it but I might have too one day.
Hey Tim, my wife and I want to dig a couple of ponds on our 20 acres in MN. I’m wondering, after all the work you’ve put into yours, A) would you do it yourself again or hire it out? B) what would you do differently if you did it again? Thanks for your time and thoughts. Any insight is appreciated as we look to do one 😊
Howdy from neighboring Ohio, Tim! I also recently bought a set of pallet forks for my 3025D. They’re made by an Indiana manufacturer, Express Steel, in Martinsville, In. So far been extremely happy with them and they had a great price. They appear to be a little bit heavier duty than the heavy hitch ones. Just a head up if you’re looking for another great product. Local too.
pond looks good, I'm on my second little boat like that ,the first one i had for around 14 years and gave it to my brother in law I now have a new one its 5 yrs. old love them
Based on the name of MetaFloc, it sounds like it causes flocculation. Which causes particles to separate from the water. Water treatment facilities use flocculation to remove suspended particles from the raw water.
We are thinking about putting in a well for our duck pond but bringing in electric is out of the question. Do you know anything about solar pumps or windmill pumps?
Looking forward to the next two steps (and the fish going in eventually!) How do you intend to mow the steep banks once seeded? Vinny with the sickle bar?
Izzy is like our cat. She's just like a dog, if I'm in the cab Tractor she wants to be in there going with me or in the truck or Polaris Ranger Now the other two cats we have wouldn't be caught dead in anything they would eat you alive if you put them in the truck🤣.

Your boat made a nice mixing spoon!
The pond is looking great!

Nice job with the pond! Now you need to build a gazebo or pergola with a few rocking chairs!
Yep! Not quite there yet. Few more things to do!

I can't wait to see the Dock Build!!!
Y'all put in a lot of hard work, but the results is beautiful!!

I imagine you will want to stock “blue”gill; when it’s time!
Get Christi an R/C boat!!
Pond is looking great. 👍
Need to bring my RC Sailboat up for a spin.
Would be fun. We usually have a good breeze.
Izzi wants to be where the action is. The pond is coming along good! Its come a lond way with all the work thats been but into it!
Great video!
I too added two aerators to our 70 yr old .75 acre pond two years ago and what a difference it has made to the health and clarity of the water.
Christy, you could get an underwater drone. Then you can check on your aerators and the fish and plant life. Tim can’t have all the toys😂
i loved it. We have a farm pond that needs some help. Over grown with weeds. But cows rely on it so can't poison it.
This stuff is safe. No ‘poison’, so maybe worth considering.

Fun to cruise with you on the pond. Quite a project and I’m curious to see what all is yet come.. Blessings.

Great looking pond I enjoyed following the build of it can't wait to see the banks seeded and the new growth.
I can see a floating dock project coming.

We have a pond also. It is about 1.5 acres on the surface. We enjoy it. Great fishing as well.
Thanks for sharing about your pond. I was wondering... Thanks for sharing, it looks great!
Pond looking good Tim.
Those are good little boats! I've had 2 of them, one in Illinois and one in Florida.
This episode reminds me of the tidy bowl man making the water blue😂.
Good job guys!
Nice video. Thanks for sharing your pond journey.
You need a remote controlled submarine!
Fantastic!!
GREAT video, nice to see the pond... Hope you can get ahead of that water problem... 😮😅
Heavy Hitch is now only about 15 miles from my house. It requires a lot of restraint to not be buying their products all the time. 😂😂
you should check out the pontoon paddle bouts at pond king , you can power with a trolling motor
Like em, cept the wide bench seat is not adjustable. We need one seat close, and one way back for my longer legs.
@@TractorTimewithTim I'm 6 ft. 2inches the seat backs adjust
@@jerrykolb3017which model do you have? Is it Paddle King brand?

A boat is a hole in water into which you throw money. Seems like a pond is a hole in the ground into which you throw money. Great video.
Yep.
Maybe a few trees to shade that water. Can't wait to see some fish and ecosystem start in there. 👍

How many duel wheel kits will Johnny-X need to be able float on that pond?
Good question! If filled with Rimguard, I don’t think there would be enough :-)
Are you able to put fish in a freshly dug pond or do you think you will wait a year for some plant life to establish in and around it?
We are thinking about putting in a well for our duck pond but bringing in electric is out of the question.
Do you know anything about solar pumps or windmill pumps?
I looked into them. I think they will work.
The pond is looking Great! Get Christy an RC boat and she can use it to stir the dye and other chemicals. Cats do love the water just not to be in it.
Aquatic plants will help take away the ammonia and provide hiding places for your fish when you get them.
Looking forward to the next two steps (and the fish going in eventually!) How do you intend to mow the steep banks once seeded? Vinny with the sickle bar?
Stay tuned :-). I think you’ll be surprised!

The pond looks great. Is it safe to eat the fish out of a pond that has dye in it?
Yes.
Pond dye is a no no if you want a healthy fishing pond. talk to a local fish biologist before adding fish to get a plan in place.
I am working with professionals at naturalwateracapes.com/ttwt as I mentioned.
I was the first “like”!!!
