Being stuck with your exact, right now, haircut for all eternity is the most terrifying vampire lore
In the TTRPG, I managed to find a loophole. :P
there are still some ways to change your look in the lore, for instance a wizard could turn you into a lawn chair
@@SabreKen
The real reason they can't go out in daylight!
Get a fresh cut before you're turned and never have to goto the barber again 😂😂
Andy: "Finally, we've got a chance to put books in their place."
All these years later, Andy has not forgotten the Book Monster...
I was starting to think this game was quietly cancelled is nobody in charge of their advertising
They switched devs halfway through making it so why would they market a game so far from release?
They've mostly been advertising through tiktok
Right? I only know about all that's been happening since their reveal because I signed the newsletter back in the ancient year 2019
Not just devs; writers, creatives, the whole plot, the inspiration... A lot of the early advertising was word of mouth from fans of the original Bloodlines, and since they seem to have removed a lot of what made people love the original Bloodlines, people aren't talking about it as much. @@Lead_Foot
There have been dev diaries and everything since the new studio picked it up.
Original bloodlines had eight or so dialogue options, depending on factions and skills. Mass effect had a wheel with a range of options and two specialised options depending on your choices. Fallout 4 had four generic dialogue options, I bet you were excited about those. This game has two dialogue options; I swear you didn't just get excited about that!
8 is a bit of an exageration, more around 5
Still a lot tho
@@gabriel897100 You had different options depending on faction. A gangrel with charisma got different options to a toreador. I think 5 was about generic options. Malkavian diolouge was always worth playing for it's wackyness!
@@Tommy-xq5jw damn time to revisit it yet again
As someone who worked in a department store for years, mannequins do not last as long as you would think.
You can thank the general public for the need to produce so many more mannequins.
I like to cuddle with mannequins at night. It makes me feel like somebody actually cares about me.
Curse you, general public!
It's not my fault they're so hot.
I thought it was beacuse they were planning to take over
I’ll wait for some reviews. The artistic direction is there, but I don’t think this is the sequel anyone was hoping for. Fingers crossed that it’s fun at least.
The initial gameplay trailer, before it changed hands, looked A LOT more like what I wanted Bloodlines 2 to be. This looks... off. But might still be fun
@@RuptimusPrime The original gameplay trailed had stiff cardboard enemies moving around, floaty combat with extremely bad situational awareness, so no wonder it looked more like a 20 year old outdated game ;)
@@RansomMemoryAccess I was obviously talking more about how the dialogue looked and felt, the atmosphere, the sense of freedom. It played like an RPG.
This looks like a Dishonored clone - Which is not necessarily bad, I loved Dishonored - but it's very far from what I believe Bloodlines 2 should be.
"Vampires arent scared of ghosts"
Wraith the Oblivion: oh but they are, and they definitely should be.
9:29 Symmetrical book stacking. No human being would stack books like this.
Just like the Philadelphia mass turbulence of 1947
Maybe a vampire did it?
Spooky ghosts
Listen! Do you smell something?!
Somebody blows their nose, and you want to keep it
Stake through the heart doesn't kill vampires, but immobilizes them in the ttrpg
Mike's going to hate it, Toreador isn't an option at launch, only the Brujah, Ventrue, Tremere, and The Clan Formerly Known as The Assamite. Two more dlc clans have been announced but the teasers for them are vague at best, could be anyone.
Three Toreadors react.
They have killed all the enthusiasm and excitement I once had for BloodLines2.
I miss you, HardsuitLabs
how much did you have in the first place that 15 minutes of gameplay does that
Hardsuit labs fired Brian mitsoda. Screw em
@@CT_Phipps No they didn't. Paradox wanted him out for unknown reason, Hardsuit labs tried to continue without him as part of project, but could not finish the project (I assume that because he told that his writing must not be used in the game if he is not part of it, and without writing ,there is no game, no characters, nothing).
I do not know what is deal with Paradox, but they seem pissing of people. Similar happen with Romeros, who made Empire of Sins. They were really passionate to make that game (just like Mitsoda was with Bloodlines 2), then something happen, and Romeros just left. Second DLC for season pass is not done, and Romeros won't do that any more. If asking from them, they tell to ask from Paradox, since it is no more their job to do the DLC or handle the project.
It looks like a CP2077 seasonal event. Hopefully there's more mechanical depth then shown here and they haven't just gone for the easy to sell options.
I'm happy that version is gone forever, it wasn't good at all. They never were going to finish it, either, the main reason why they were removed.
they might have lost me at no character creation ngl
Same, what's the point of an rpg without getting to make your MC your own... :/
I think it's been confirmed that you can customize Phyre but they'll always have the same name and be from 17th century Cairo.
Basically it's a Commander Shepard situation, although presumably you'll have a bit more control on dialogue than the Paragon/Renegade system.
@@RustFox The point is you can tell a more coherent story. This way your character can have a personality and a fleshed out backstory and actually be a part of the plot...unlike say Baldurs Gate 3 where no matter who you are or what your backstory is, you are now the protagonist of Baldurs Gate 3. Lots of excellent RPGs and RPG-lites follow this route. The Witcher, Mass Effect, Bioshock, etc. Sometimes having a defined character is a good thing.
Hey, if you want to play some kind of rpg you can just play...Vampire: The Masquerade...Bloodlines...wait why are they doing this? Betting no Malkavian option, no Nosferatu option, no branching stories, no "You've made a powerful enemy today, sign!" moments.
Yay. It's Star Effect-Out with vampires.
@@weneedaladder8384 And it's not like VtmB was any different. You were a bastard childe, they even removed the "Histories" system they had in place that's only accessible in the Plus patch - not to mention the appearances was VERY limited.
So as long as you can customize your stats, and have enough dialogue options, maybe it won't be bad.
THe gameplay though.. that's what concerns me.
I’m hoping it’s at least like a Cyberpunk situation where it’s a set character that you still have freedom to customize. You’re always V or Phye in this, but you still get customized versions of that.
I'm late to this, but you get clan choice, male or female, can change up appearance somewhat, and you might be able to choose stats. I don't know about the last one. It does seem more like a Mass Effect situation, where they always call you Shepard, so here you're always Phyre, with the same general background, but you can change it up some.
What makes me wary the most from this gameplay is that all the dialogue options look completely inconsequential. At the first dialogue probably everything will lead to him screaming at you to have that dreamy/battle sequence. And at the end since the Nosferatu's vest is hinted to be remote detonated by that Gardener guy it doesn't matter what you tell the Nosferatu, he will always blow up. So...if this is a template of their writing capabilities the story will be pretty linear action with just a façade of an RPG...
So sad. It's Over!
The gameplay you showed way back had me excited but I'm not sure about this, I hope further gameplay reveals show more of the RPG I wanted.
I'm still nervous. The Chinese Room has ZERO experience making RPGs.
My expectations are low given how nightmarish the development has been, but it still has some chance of being good.
And they butchered amnesia
All we can do is hope it will be good but expect it to be bad imo
If this trailer is any indication, they still have zero experience making RPGs.
@@mcbellyman3265 Hopefully 🤞🏻
feels too different from what I loved about VTMB originally so might not be for me, but I desperately want it to prove me wrong
still not sure about this, I liked what the original build showed us. but the combat seemed like it was repeating a lot and I'm not feeling Phyre as the main character yet
A handful of classic games notwithstanding, I almost never feel a pre-made character over one I get to create myself. Sure, it allows them to have other characters talk about your backstory and say your name but I'd pretty much always trade that for a character I feel more invested in. And on the occasions where a main character that a game designer thinks is cool doesn't particularly do it for you, it can drag down an otherwise great game.
Tbh, this is why I can't wait for it to become standard for NPCs to have AI voices and whatnot. Then they'll be able to say whatever name you enter and talk about whatever backstory you choose. Then the main character situation won't have to be an either-or proposition...
Andy says "Deadeye for punches" and I'm immediately sold... 👌do agree that mannequin factory is definitely a peak horror trope
Yeah, this actually looks really good! I can't wait to play it! I had no idea this is how it would turn out.
@@TheCookieCrisp this? looks good?
"pink times in the mannequin factory" was my favorite book as a kid!
Hmmm so it's... Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines 2 - Dunwall... nice.
No
It's interesting that they're going with the "main character out of time" concept, considering that was the conceit for the other VtM game that came out in the early 2000s, Redemption
Some things are like VTMR, like getting exp for taking down enemies and the dungeon thing. Now, you have the story of an Elder, but, only in Modern Nights, unlike VTMR which was since Christof's Embrace.
TBH I am pretty disappointed that our character is already decided. Is it too much to ask to let us create our own character like a proper RPG?
See, that's something we don't really know yet, this demo has a pre-made character, but I don't know if that's a given that you will play as that character.
Even if they do have premades one for each clan that you can customize would be neat.
Fabian might be a Tremere communicating telepathically that or some weird agreed upon diablerie happened like "I'm dying, take my powerrr!" 😂 I don't know. Maybe if Phyre was a Malkavian... a voice in their head would have another reason to exist.
So you don't know the lore well. They already explained that, it's Diablerie, if you do it wrong, it has consequences, that happened to Fabien while he tried it on Phyre. On the RPG, some things are explained about the effects of it, others are open to let you go your own way.
I didn't think this would come out. I was super excited about it and really want to play it but given its production history i am going to wait a while after it comes out before i decide if I'll buy it.
Don't jinx it! Doesn't look ready to release in the next two years yet.
I guess you can’t have anything horror related without at least one Willem Scream
Isn't there a thing in the setting where if a vampire eats another vampire, you get their voice in your head?
That is a possible consequence of Diablerie, yes
depending on how well you handle the diablerie AKA eating the "soul", it can go from having only the advantages (some of the stats and powers) to losing the will fight and the would-be-victim gets your body (often happens when upstarts try that on very old vampires) and in between I suppose you can get something like that
That sounds like a cool feature
That is a potential consequence, yes. Usually it’s temporary and it means that while it’s happening there is still a chance the soul of the vampire you diablerized will take over your body and your soul is the one that ultimately gets consumed.
There are cases where even after you win the battle of wills, the voice ends up replacing the voice of your beast. However that version won’t be giving you tactical advice or having philosophical discussions with you. It will be poking at you to give into the beast usually by weakening your will with shame.
Everyone here is right, but I'll add one thing: The voice is more likely to last if you Diablerize a Malkavian.
I just have the feeling that this trailer is cyberpunk 2077 all over again. I hope I’m wrong.
I feel you. At least CD Project Red listened to it's fan base and stepped it up. I don't know if we'll get the same treatment with this company in regards to this game. I was hoping to create my own character.
Glad to see bloodlines news from the bloodlines channel.
I really want it to be good, but I'm not sold. And afaik no playable Toreador at launch ☹.
It's an interesting new look on a classic.....we're talking about Jane's centre parting right?
Something about this looks a bit too...cartoony for the masquerade. Just the way that Willem moves around 14:06 doesn't look like it fits the dark, cutthroat world of the masquerade. Also, did anyone explain why everyone (presumably) gets Auspex (the enhanced senses thing)?
Honestly this feels to me like as far from a Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines sequel as we could get. I mean, this seems to break all the elements that made the first game work. It doesn't look like vampire the masquerade, it looks like a generic bethesda RPG. The main character isn't even an underdog, she's an elder vampire. More than anything, an established character who allows for very little agency for the player, if at all. We'll see if character creation and sheet building will even be a thing. The gameplay is also very generic, and doesn't seem to build up from the original at all.
I'm not happy. In fact, I'll be giving this game a wide berth.
0:32 it doesn't look like you have a character sheet. It looks like each clan will have it's own ability tree and that's it.
Real question for y'all: is Jane in a "Games are back" shirt because you will sell out 😂
It definitely doesn't seem to be the Bloodlines sequel my heart desired for two decades, but at least it will be on Game Pass right?
The Green Sofa!
Woah, this is news to me! Thought Masquerade 2 would be on ice for a while.
They have been pretty consistent with dev diaries and small info dumps for the past few months.
The recently released dev diaries have had a pretty negative affect on the promotion/hype around the game. The downvotes on all of their videos are insane.
I love the original bloodlines so this does feel like a bit of a departure that i'm not sure about yet. However, I have just started playing VtM: Swansong which gives similar vibes (though i have no idea about combat etc yet,) and so far i'm enjoying it. I'm actually pretty optimistic about this.
I can't be the only one who's gonna go "Ora, ora, ora!" when using that flurry of blows.
You might be, cause you might be one of the 10 people to buy this game.
11 🤚🏾, and yes the “Ora!” is absolutely necessary, “Muda!”, Is also acceptable.
I was going, "Ahtatatatatatata!"
@@-Mister-_._-Sir- yeah, because it's not the follow up to an absolute legend loved by millions, unlike anything you have, or will ever, done.
@@chrisb8768 "muda" is useless.
I would LOVE for you guys to do a full play through of this on the channel when it comes out just like you did with Resi 4!! You guys obviously adore VTMB whcih would make it so fun to watch 😂
Willem's head looks like Planter's Mr. Peanut! Lol
I find it hilarious that Mike and Jane are the Masquerade super fans but Andy is kind of front and centre for this.
Because he feels the need to be front and center of everything....
@@BennyCo.Skateboard wow rude much?
@@Rymthe The intention isn't necessarily to be rude
@@Rymthea bit rude, but a bit true too. Have you never noticed how he always has to put his two cents in? How he can never just let someone else's joke get kudos, he always has to try to tack his own on? He's a genuinely very good guy, but does need to work through some of his need to be the center of attention.
it's because aside from the lore, this game seems to be quite far from the first VtMV vibe. And most importantly, Andy is the resident general vampire fan.
Oo! Lovely hair from Jane today!
You're an ancient Egyptian who wakes up in far future America surrounded by mannequins? I get that reference :D
That doesn't necessarily means Phyre is from Cairo, Phyre could have just gotten renown in that place
@@TenchiShinMei77 I mean where you are 'from' is up to you realistically. I was born in a podunk town but i'm FROM Pittsburgh cause I loved it there and made a lot of my best memories there. It depends if Phyre sticks to their roots or embraces who they became...
Its neat, but it just isn't a 'Bloodlines' game, which is gonna be a hang up for a lot of people including myself. Add that to the fact that The Chinese Room isn't known for adding great 'gameplay' to their games (often being little more than hallway simulators at best), and their ability to tell stories with a good or interesting payoff just has ALSO not really...panned out at all. Add that to the clear asset reuse and very generic setting? Lost a lotta faith via this.
They're not even trying to look excited for this piece of slop. lol
I wouldn't want to play Jane at poker! Mostly because I don't know how
Reading around the subject at the moment this looks a lot like the Cyberpunk V setup you have a defined name but the look, gender, skills and clan affiliation are yours to decide.
Terrible decision to emulate the WORST game of 2020.
I guess I can add "does semtex kill vampires" to my search history
Semtex vest leads to decapitation which is a cannon vamp killer
I can't believe it's happening! FINALLY!
I'm suddenly way less excited if I can't create my own character in an RPG.
Consensus online seems to indicate you can definitely choose gender, outfits, and clan, and likely face and hair as well. Just not name (terrible name btw) and backstory. So hype returned ish?
Thanks for the preview Andy, Mike, and Jane. I genuinely wasn't excited for the game and now I am. This was great. Keep up the great work!
Jane’s hair looks amazing, and her skin is glowing. Drop vitamin routine please.
This has basically nothing to do with bloodlines anymore, it might be fine but I have my doubts since the devs have zero experience making RPGs just a collection of walking simulators and the worst amnesia game.
I want to be optimistic, but considering the development hell they've been in and the new having no experience in what was supposed to be an RPG, I'm tempering my expectations. Hopefully, it'll turn out to be good.
"Turn out to be good"??
That ship has sailed😂 There's no way this game comes out being anything other than sh!t😂😂
I'll almost certainly play it because I want to encourage more video games of TTRPG IPs I like, and that won't happen if they're all flops. I'm not expecting it to be anything like as revelatory as the original Bloodlines, though.
The environment looks great (which was to be expected with The Chinese Room's experience), the combat looks smooth and probably feels quite smooth. High maneuverability is almost always a plus. The level/quest looks interesting. And a couple of banger lines (and seeing how they've been showcasing the "what will I be to you, and to this lonely forgotten warehouse" they know it too).
I think TCR has showcased multiple strong points for vtmb2.
There are a couple of sore spots for me: Willem's mind control scream feels utterly out of flavour for a Nosferatu (this might be a one-off, there's no real way to tell). The absolute lack of RPG elements showcased is extremely suspicious to me. Finally Fabian was sadly utterly interfering with my engagement during the conversation; but his reminders (he's lying, the memories) felt jarring and out of place.
was surprised to see Jane staying silent in this , disappointed in the new direction maybe ?
I am disappointed. VtMB had a grimey, slightly sleazy setting that I loved. Moving the sequel to Seattle was fine with me, but this game looks to be set in Dunwall.
I love the Dishonored series and I don't feel the need to mix vampires into it.
I've still got my three disc Windows copy of VtMB and the latest unofficial patch so I'll stick with those.
I’m getting strong classic Arkane vibes from this and I’m there for it. Here’s hoping that this pans out into a good game. 🤞
i hope there will still be epic night ckub dancing. One of the things that looked realy great in the older VTMB2 footage
Well, one of the few games i am actually hyped about. (considering i still - sometimes - install bloodlines every now and then to play at least to the ghost mansion)
Homie Willem literally has domain expansion from Jujutsu Kaisen
How did all of you miss that the Nosferatu was using a Willem Scream? That *HAD* to be deliberate on the dev's part!
I definitely expect to see a three ways to play series of this game with you lot. Can't wait!
3 ways to play. SPOILER ALERT: Every Outcome Is The Same!
So how long before we get an OX co-op between Mike and Jane in a V:TM themed D&D game?
Or just straight up VtM
From what I heard, vampires are horrible to play in 5e, though I'm enjoying playing one in 3.5e
That was amazing, there's just two things bothering me. The fallout 4 like restricted dialogue options and it looks like character creation would be limited
Well that's how jack got rid of Lacroix. Hehe big boom.
Stake through the heart doesn’t kill a vampire. Just paralyzes them. Fire can kill them so explosion yes lol
Getting VTM Justice meets Swansong vibes. Not bad just not what I expected. Time will tell.
"Why do need so many mannequins"
The answer: Demolition Ranch.
They can get their hair cut, but it goes back to how it was when they were turned into a vampire every day when they sleep.
this is making me wanna play Dishonoured 2
the voice in the head thing just makes me think Cyberpunk: the Masquerade Bloodlines :')
Honestly, so far this is feeling like the game Redfall should've been. I'm very interested 🧐
I can’t believe you guys haven’t done Oxventure Vampire the Masquerade!
Oh. Their 00:00 faces say a lot.
This whole sequence would be massively elevated if your heightened senses had been negated for some reason. Maybe having them start to come back on the pink level, once "reality" had started to unravel.
The environments look really cool. The combat seems interesting, but the constant switching back and forth from first person to third person is a bit nauseating. Hopefully there is an option to just stay in third person the whole time. I am tentatively excited about this, but I am still not sold on The Chinese Room making a game like this. We'll see if they are able to pull it off.
The Gardener is Cain. Change my mind.
Cain is a cab driver, so you're wrong :P
Here I was thinking Willem was actually the 1990's celebrity known as Batboy. LOL
Janes not happy face 😬
Hopefully it does well. And then hopefully we get more of everything for oWoD.
Ah, the "meat drums" attack.
Wow this looks uhhhhhhhhhhhhh damn I miss having given up on this game
I am soooooooooo disappointed that this is the first person
And there's probably a really good chance that that's a deal Breaker.
i'm probably not gonna care to buy this
When a trailer/gameplay reveal for an RPG doesn't show RPG elements (multiple dialogue options aren't enough), that's a big redflag for me.
I had forgotten this game existed to be honest, and that video doesn't make me care about it in the slightest, even though I loved the first game.
Leave the books alone you monster!
Is the whole game going to be in 1st person? Personally very much prefer 3rd person games, which is a bummer. Might still give it a go 🤷♀️
I do hope the frame-rate improves. I'm sure it will, though for a 1st impression, it's definitely worrisome.
P.s. Sorry but I'm so done with manikins in horror games - They've been from the AAA to the Indie-sphere. And have been done to death (laugh, laugh).
The rapid punching attack reminds me of that one finisher you can do in Sifu, and the level design has big Control energy. Looks dope!
yeah but its not suppose to look dope or be sifu, its suppose to be vtmb
Oh man if this ever comes out I hope the do a full playthrough.
My vote is Larian should take a crack at this IP. A Larian type of RPG in VtM would be amazing.
Looks like AVGN got his first game cameo.
Just finished my thrid playthrough of the original and omg overall it still holds up but very hyped for the sequel lets hope we'll get it before 2030!
Blowing up a vampire with serious putty does seem like it'd work.
Ways a Kindred die, receiving enough damage, losing their head, fire and the sun. So an explosion can do 2 things, big damage and fire and depending how strong, losing the head, too, but with the fire alone, which along with the sun are the biggest enemies of a Kindred, that'd be enough.
I'm stoked for this new game. Not exactly what I had originally envisioned, but still looks interesting and the combat mechanics look like a lot of fun.
Seems a bit clunky for what the game was originally aiming for, but as long as they deliver a compelling story, it should be a good time.
Mike is the best lol
