ABOUT US
We’re the Lockwoods. And we’re traveling the world to experience-up close and in person-all the natural wonders and distinct cultures that our kids would otherwise be consuming only through textbooks and TV. We think it’s a better way to learn and we’re working hard to fund this little experiment in the hope that our kids will grow up wiser, kinder, and more grateful for the beauty of our diverse planet and its people.
As a fellow American living in the Philippines for the past 6 years, I loved this video! I was worried that you were going to be like a couple of the popular European vloggers living in BGC and only show BGC and travel to other super high-end Philippines locations. This proves that you are going to showing more typical experiences in the Philippines. I hope you keep this up.
Thanks! 🤗 we have a lot of episode ideas planned all across the board. So happy you liked this episode!
Like The Juicy Vlog? 😂 ✌️
@@jasonreyarana4034Lol.
Maybe you are referring to Juicy Vlog.. But they are genuine and love the Philippines Lucy's parent have been here recently and they have also videos where they're walking to the streets of Manila and other parts of the country...
Lucy and George love the Philippines genuinely.
Colt is so polite, so great! He always says, “Thank you”
We are so proud of his manners 🫶
Phil and colt are so adventurous when it comes to food!
Always up for anything 😊
How very gracious of your hosts, King and Ryan, to show you their neck of the woods. It's a refreshing POV outside the BGC bubble. Go Lockwoods! 😃
They were incredibly generous with absolutely everything the entire day! Beautiful people with beautiful souls, showing us more beautiful 🇵🇭 culture.
@livethephilippines And so cool of you guys to be open to receiving their generosity! 🩷
Hello everyone! Thanks for supporting Live the Philippines and we hope we did justice in showing the Lockwoods our side of town. We love this family! Thanks again!
Hello 😊 Ching! Thank you so much for hosting us! 💕🤗🫶😊🙏🙏🙏
Your hospitality was very kind. I enjoyed seeing your home and learning about the different foods. I'm glad you all have become friends. Thank you and love the rooftop area!! ❤️
Love this episode! Very different, outside of the bubble of BGC. This is how we live on the other parts of Metro Manila.
It felt like such a fun place to live! We really appreciated the opportunity to get that close to the actual lifestyle because of their offer to show us around! 🙏🏼❤️🤗
The kids are so cool and well-mannered too. That's why I love them. You raised them very well.
Hello Lockwood Family ! I was born and grew up and studied in Metro Manila. But now I am living in Alberta Canada for 15 years. I was happy to see your experience with the Filipino family who invited you in their home to see a different side of life in Manila as a contrast to your life in BGC. I admire how your family is willing to try so many new things and your great respect for Filipino culture and the people.
Thank you for appreciating that. We hope to have many varieties of experiences in the Philippines 🫶
Relating with Our Locals is Heartwarming!!
That shows the True Manila..the True Philippines,..and Not just the Bubble Urban called BGC!!
We really enjoyed seeing how they live.
Beautiful people. Great content. There are many different ways of life in the Philippines but no matter where you go, you will find the most amazingly friendly people on the planet there. I will be there again at end of year... can't wait.
Welcome back in advance
The most welcoming and friendly people! 🤗
ENJOY ALSO THE TRUE FILIPINO HOSPITALITY, WITHOUT ANY PRETENTIONS.
None at all. It was a great experience to have 🙏
i think our tourism secretary should do collabs with family vloggers too. the government should take notice of prominent vloggers like the Lockwoods fam, and maybe they could legislate laws to protect them and offer better easier process for official documents. the digital nomad bill needs to be as good or even better than existing ones from the SEA.
Thank you, and yes! We haven’t even checked in the past few weeks, but has the nomad visa officially launched?
Guys don't know if you already have plans for the 15th but I think you should check out the Pahiyas Festival in Lucban, Quezon Province. (I know you've been to Quezon Province before when you went to Villa Escudero, but this is a differrent part of the province.) The Pahiyas Festival is one of our most popular festivals here where the houses are decorated with colorful rice leaves and produce!
So cool 😎 thanks for letting us know
Yes the Pahiyas Festival is Fun and
Very Colorful. 👍👍👍🇵🇭
Wonderful and lovely hosts to an equally wonderful and lovely guests. ❤
I love Andok's chicken. Baliwag (its close competition) is good too. 😋
And love those sunglasses Mrs. Erin 😎
Every. Single. Bite. Was delicious! 👍🏼❤️
Lov this family, so down to earth and very humble!
Hugs! 🤗
I love this family. Thank you for living a good life in the philippines and making it your second home.
Nice seeing you back ABC family.
Thanks 😊
Nice that Your Family tried the true Authentic Filipino Way of Life. Your first Stop is also Popularly Called as FAMOUS UNIVERSITY BELT it is where I graduate UE (UNIVERSITY OF THE EAST). Explore More and Have FUN
Thanks! So happy to have explored and shared a new part of Manila. There are a lot more universities in Manila than we realized.
We're very happy you all loved and embraced our culture ❤😊
🤗🤗🤗
Wow…❤️ this video! Local couple invited you to their home. Phil n Cole are so brave and ate the one day chick. Jeremy is better than Matt 💙

Young man’s into experience❤ good on you mate🤙
We love his adventurous spirit! 😊
This episode is so adorable. Never thought you’d be featuring Old Sta. Mesa where I spent some part of my childhood. That home is a legit simple and humble Filipino home experience.
We loved having this experience and perspective. It's so great to see how people live their daily lives. It makes it easier to understand a culture when we travel and visit new places.
I love this episode! Glad you enjoyed a local experience!
Love this family so much ❤️Hope to see you in BGC someday hihi
We hope to see you too! We are almost always walking down high Street 👍🏼❤️🫶🏼
You guys are awesome in diving deep into the Filipino ways/ culture!!! Way to go!!
Thanks! We really appreciated this experience.
Its so nice that someone properly invited them to their home in Manila. Hope others will follow suit inviting you to their homes in various parts of the Philippines and let you savor different foods that are popular and originated in that particular part of the country. Like La Paz Batchoy its Origin is in La Paz Iloilo City and so on....
That kind environment is the real deal for most Filipinos, simple and humble lifestyle.
Glad you were able to experience it.
Amazing episode; one of the best ! You all brought it home, literally. Your awesome hosts were so gracious, opening their home and neighborhood to the world. Cole is an amazing kid, unafraid of trying unique food, and always grateful. This video is one for the books. Loved it.
Pretty it will be rainy season so plan ahead.
Our very first visit to the Philippines in 2022 was during rainy season and we loved every minute! 👍🏼❤️
I REALLY LOVE THIS FAMILY . ENJOY, LOVE, FUN ITS YOUR SECOND HOME ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Oh wow, I hang out at that particular SM branch ( I live nearby) most days because of the heat. Never would expect you guys to be in my neck of woods at any point in time. I'm stoked! lol
So cool! We loved visiting that area. It was a particularly hot day though!
Typical Filipino Hospitality !!!
So Gracious of them to host
your family 👏👏👏👏👏
i love this family ,thank you guys choosing here in the philippines to stay ❤️
Wow! I’m impressed with Colt for being a very open minded kid. I’m a Filipino and never eat 1 day chick. Good job for exploring the other side of Manila
Colt growing so fast and Erin you really going out of your comfort zone great job on that love it❤
Im from Region 2 and my hometown is where the pancit Cabagan hails from, which is the town Cabagan. Hope you liked it guys! 👌🏻
We thought it was great 😊
#4 In my 45 plus years coming to the PH, I have never met a family that was not gracious and if you come to their home they will
prepare a feast for you and maybe a dozen other folks. So much food.
We love this so much about the Filipino people. We have been so fortunate to experience the wonderful hospitality.
I graduated from Polytechnic of the Philippines (PUP) in 1986. It's nice to see the area again. Haven't seen it since then.
Nice seeing you again in Manila ABC Lockwood family.
It was great to explore a new area of Manila :)
@@livethephilippines Looking forward to travel again to Cebu most especially going North and try to explore the famous Bantayan and Kalanggaman Islands.
Pureza 😍 That's where I spent my college years at Polytechnic University of the Philippines College of Engineering ❤
The local side of Manila, not your normal BGC quite and no traffic. It will be an eye opener, but keep you mind open you will see things you normally don't see like street vendors and homeless people. Just embrace the culture and never compare it to the Western side of living, you will see that people are happy with what they have and what they can offer with better little of what they have.❤
This was a wonderful experience for us. So grateful to have a new perspective on life in Manila, we know there are many walks of life here.
Don’t worry even rich country like US and Canada have their own share of homeless people!
Your 2kids are so Amazing ...Big LIKE.....KEEP SAFE AND WELL....
I love this episode so much. It’s just so genuine and shows the true side of Metro Manila. It’s so nice to see the side and genuine reaction of you guys to our culture ♥️
We love this experience too. It's easy to visit someplace and only get one side of what it's like to live there but we want to experience all sides. We know there are many more ways of life than just this too.
Good that you have your friend 's guidance here....We love your Vlogs.....Good Family
I just loved this video! It’s good to feature how people actually live outside BGC. It’s also great to see how you continue to try different street foods. It was fun to watch!!😍
So happy to hear that. We love our lives here in BGC but we are so grateful that we had the opportunity to see a different perspective in Manila.
Colt is the star of these vlogs. Such a nice kid!
Thanks! 🤗 he’s such a natural
Here's my insider tip: unlike Americans, the majority of Filipinos wash their butts with soap and water using a timba (pail/bucket) and tabo (dipper/pitcher). Some use a hose with a sprayer to wash their butts. It's a normal hygienic practice in the Philippines.
Here are food tips: Filipinos eat meals regularly with rice (example: sisig with rice). Most foreigners don't know how to eat pancit palabok. The right way to eat pancit palabok is to first put a little bit of patis (fish sauce) and a dash of ground pepper and calamansi on top of the palabok and then, mix everything before eating. Also, the right way to eat halo-halo and taho is also to mix everything before eating. The right way to eat filipino spaghetti, like in Jollibee, is also to mix everything before eating.
My last tip for you guys is laundry service is cheap in the Philippines. There is a laundry service in BGC called House of Pio laundry service and they also deliver the clothes to your condo unit. Also, buy an electric flyswatter. There is a lamp version and a racket version. Buy wifi repeaters also to increase the signal strength in your rooms. Instead of using the aircon, buy more electric fans so you can save money. Also, buy appliances at the Ace Hardware store in any SM mall. Buy GOMO sim cards because the GOMO data doesn't expire. And if you really want to go bargain shopping, try shopping at the Divisoria area. There are malls there that sell at bargain prices like the Tutuban Centermall and 168 shopping mall. Divisoria is also just walking distance to Binondo and Chinatown. Just be careful of your wallets and bags when shopping in those areas. Nearby Divisoria is the Ugbo Street in Tondo which is famous for its street foods, however, Ugbo street only opens from 5 pm to midnight. Also, visit the historical Intramuros and Luneta Park. There is also an Ocean Park near Luneta. Also if you notice, some sell green mangoes which you can eat with bagoong.
With regards to citizenship, if you have stayed in the Philippines for 10 years and have proof/documentation of your stay in the Philippines, then you can apply for Philippine citizenship.
I'll be back ... 🤖
Ching and Ryan thank U for leading them the right way....
Love watching local food adventure at local level. The real Philippines food taste and you might want to try the different regional cuisine.
We love doing food episodes 😋
I love that your kids aren’t picky with food.
We love when they try new food too 🤗
Such an awesome vlog fam!!! So great that you all had a home cooked meal inside a local’s home. WOW! How special is that. My mouth was watering when she was stirring that pancit and then I saw the mango and lost it😆🤣I’m hungry now.
I was having a hard time holding myself back from diving into the food as soon as walked it. So good and so great to experience the comfort of enjoying a meal in a home. 🫶
I was hoping you guys would do one like this. Waiting for one on rural life in the real Philippines. Good one!! 🙌
Thanks! So happy you liked it. More to come!
Hi family Lockwood good job to see another side of Manila, and good job to taste of difference food to see in manila
Thank you, Ate!! ❤️
I absolutely love this!!! Whenever I visit the Philippines (I live in the U.S.) I have the privilege to live in different parts of Manila. BGC is hands down my favorite city but nothing beats getting the real deal outside of BGC. Especially the food! This video really gave it a different, real life experience and it’s not always cookie cutter for everyone so I appreciate their hospitality (Pinoy pride) and the adventure that you continue to bring us on. Love this content❤
So so happy you love this video! 😊😊😊
that you shot this in the heat of Manila is really amazing. props to you Lockwoods 👏
We felt like our skin was melting LOL but worth it. It's just all apart of life in Manila. We'd rather be sweltering hot than cold any day 😊
I love you guys for exploring the economical side of the city. It's great for the kids too! You have such an amazing family.
PS: I hope you can also visit the city of Davao! :)
Yeah guys, I love that you are really trying to experience how to live like the locals. It’s really been so hot lately Earth is in the recovery phase of the solar storm now, which will last a few more days because the storm hit our planet for 6 days. That’s why around the world is experiencing a terrible El Niño. Forecasters use a five-level scale to measure geometric storms & NASA said is expected to be in 2025.
Erin, just a short note to wish you a wonderful Mother's Day and more blessings. 💐🙏
So kind of you. Thank you 💕
One of my favorite episode. Phil and Cole are awesome..
They are the best when it comes to trying new foods! Love my guys 😊
OMG, I know this place. It is like 10 minutes away from where I live. This is the best side of the Philippines.
So happy you liked it! 😊
the giant kwek kwek is called tokneneng pronounced as it is spelled 😊
Ahh thanks 😊
I think you guys will enjoy the National Museums. There's 3 buildings. Fine Arts, Anthropology, & Natural History.
That'll be great to visit there too
Colt and Phil are really adventurous. You guys are adorable. ❤
Thanks so much 😊
Wow this is a great content. This is how beautiful the Philippines is when you are a vlogger you can do a lot of contents that will depict the real Philippines. You can do nature like mountain trekking, island hopping, beach adventures, diffent foods, and many many more. Not unlike in the west especially colder countries doing vlogging indoor or even outdoors are boring and monotonous.
So many different ways to experience the Philippines. We are hoping to continue to try new things. Thanks for watching!
Phil and Erin, your genuine love for our country shines in all of your videos. The PH is on a growth curve and too many exciting developments happening all at the same time. You’ll have endless content in the future. I’d like to see future videos of your family riding the Metro Manila Subway, the New Manila International Airport, the Pasig River Esplanade, the new museums in Rizal Park, new casinos being built, etc, etc. And who knows, maybe you can appear in a cameo in a PH movie someday, :)
We hope to explore all over. There are endless possibilities in Manila and so many other islands to explore too. We will keep exploring 😊
Love this video
🤗🤗🤗
ahhh PUP area, brings back so many memories, that's my alma matter
WOW🎉, i admire how very good couple and family, enjoy the Philippines, i hope keep vlogging so good like a pro.
Please try MINDANAO also or Davao
Amazing Videos. One of Filipino culture, resiliency of Filipinos and strategic way to earned extra income..
Absolutely. We were grateful to be invited into their home and lives

Our hosts deserve so much credit for opening their home up to us and allowing us to film. So grateful for them!
Love the variety of videos you created in the philippines
Thanks for appreciating that! 😊
Hey there! I was laughing about Erin saying "I don't feel like that would be kwek-kwek because it's so humungous!" because that "giant kwek-kwek does have a different name: tokneneng (stress on the second syllable)!
If you guys are interested in other experiences within Metro Manila, I can suggest a food crawl at the University of the Philippines Diliman Campus. There's a lot of neat places for students to grab a bite there!
Region 2 or Cagayan Valley in the northern part of Luzon Philippines 🇵🇭 🇵🇭 🇵🇭 is beautiful 🥰🤩😍🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️
Enjoyed this video! Keep it up! 💕
Enjoy guys!
Thanks 😊
If you you ever get to Pampanga, let me know! I'll be happy to show you around
Sure? Nako po, nakakahiya naman… 😊😅😂 ✌🏼😎
That's so kind of you! We had one visit there so far but it would be great to go again sometime.

Wow. This reminds me of how we used to lived before . Living simple life which I called organized chaos. i know its very different here in west palm beach, 24/7 ac, no tricycle and less chaotic but I really miss the Philippines so much. Thanks for sharing. ❤
So happy you watched and liked it. We miss so many things about the Philippines when we're in the US, tricycles included 😊
Very brave of Phil and Colt that 6:57 eating One Day Old Chicken
Love how they’ll try anything 😊

Indeed! 💯
Hope you could visit us here in Laguna… ❤❤❤
i love this fanily ❤️ 3:04
Wow! Real local experience
It was great exploring their way of life 😊
Cool. I had Pancit Cabagan for dinner earlier. All props to the Lockwoods for being the engaging and down-to-earth family that they really are. They willingly chose to get out of their comfort zone while others, who shall not be named, always stay in their bubble and merely immerse in swanky, western stuff.
Thank you so much for appreciating us. We feel like this is what travel is all about, getting out of our comfort zone and truly experiencing something different. And understanding people who live different daily lives. We're grateful for the experience.
Nice local interaction ☺️ just a thought.. Maybe your family can do a tent camping series with the Ocampos 😅 and in the future you may experience the trecking in Mt Pinatubo in Pampanga ☺️
Interesting idea. We’ll think about it.
If you're in the US and when you order pancit thru Chinese takeout, they refer to it as chow mein.
Oh, that’s interesting! So we have actually been eating at our entire lives 👍🏼👍🏼
@@livethephilippines yes. I discovered that myself when I was in the US decades ago.
Great vlog! I really enjoyed watching it! More power to your channel guys! 👍😊🤗💕
Thank you so much 🤗
I miss angels burger , the most tastiest cheapest buy one take one burger of all time
Good to know! 😊
"It's probably an organ." LAUGH OUT LOUD, good one Erin. My kind of content creators, Phil and Colt for being great sports when it comes to quality street foods. Manyaman!
Haha! So happy you liked it 😊
Grabe nman Ching & Ryan good job for hosting the Lockwoods and for giving them a try of the local delicacies.
@@matthewong2800 Thank you so much! Happy to serve! 😊
You all need to spend some time in the "Nayon" the countryside of the Philippines and live in a Kubo house....these experience are what I miss the most about the Philippines.
Sounds like an experience we'd love to have
Love this local vlogs!
