- This is my Isles of Sea and Sky review on RUclips. Isles of Sea and Sky (IOSAS) is a retro-Zelda inspired sokoban puzzle game that I've been looking forward to playing since 2020!
"A fantastic, oceanic, open world puzzle adventure. Solve innovative block puzzles while unearthing a mystifying story, gaining new friends that change the puzzle landscape, and unlocking powers that provide more options for how you choose to progress through the enigmatic Isles of Sea and Sky" - Steam description

A review on Steam called this game _Chip's Awakening_ and I'm disappointed I didn't make that joke
I've been really anticipating this for the last few months. So, your glowing review really makes me happy.
The indie puzzle genre as a whole is where I believe devs are able to best express their creativity and really leverage the medium's strengths. I'd be picking this up today itself and hope I like it as much as you do! ^^
I've been anticipating it since 2019 haha! So I'm equally glad that the finished game was this good!
I am pleasantly surprised every time I see a Table53 video on my subs page. Even if the game isn't from a genre I'd usually consider my cup of tea, I know it will be worth checking out because of your exceptional taste in quality games. Thanks for another great recommendation!
Thank you! That's great to hear! Yeah I need to make sure the next video isn't a sokoban game, I think I've reviewed plenty of them for the time being haha
You convinced me to play this, looks gorgeous.
It's superb, I hope you enjoy it!
I've been waiting for this game for _four years_ ..
It's been 47 years.... The return of the king
Haha, thank you! Time to disappear for another 47 years now
There is exactly one game I've seen that comes close to this game's vibe: Power Soukobon. Problem is, it was a Japan exclusive for the SNES.
And even then, this one is a lot more... realized?... than that. There, each room is a single puzzle, character progression is just you getting more health/power for the boss fights, and said fights aren't themselves puzzles... but here? A screen can have several puzzles, and character progression grants new abilities.
while the name change wasn't doing it for me, the fact that the game kickstarted with a rock-solid vertical slice demo and managed to stick the landing all these years later is a testament to Cicada Game's design chops.
I respect the name change but it definitely isn't quite as catchy as before. Yeah it's a really solid design!
Wow. I recently played and loved Oracle of Ages for the first time. For puzzle fans, I would say it is the best Zelda game out there. I must play this. Hopefully it makes it to Switch. Otherwise Isles may motivate me to get Steamdeck.
Big respect to your channel. Extremely high quality, thoughtful analysis. I'm getting a great kick out of Youropa right now, a game I had not heard of until I saw your video.
I think it is going to get a Switch release, but not for a while yet!
Thank you! I'm glad someone else is playing Youropa, that is a criminally underappreciated game!
Great review, convinced me to buy this game. :)
And what a pleasant surprise to find this channel. I'm looking through some old videos and coming across a lot of interesting recommendations. I've already subscribe to follow your excellent work.
I hope you enjoy it! Thank you, fingers crossed there are some either more niche games on here that you'll find interesting too!
Ive played the demo like 5 times, im 100% buying this.
If you enjoyed the demo you won't be disappointed!
If there was ever a game to get a new video out of you I knew this would be it.
Of course! I wasn't going to miss this one!
Babe wake up - New Table53 video just dropped
Haha, I'm fully on board with you commenting this every time I get around to writing a video!
I remember Chip's Challenge well, in fact
Haha, well I hope I haven't caused any offence! It's a very easy game to make a joke from
@@Table53 I played it because it was a game that came installed on some PCs at the time, but I've never seen it since.
I can't find the air god(?) where is it ahhhhh
All I'll say is it's definitely on the air island! So maybe check if there's somewhere you haven't been?
@@Table53 I found it! I also learnt I'm really good at overthinking things and missed the obvious answer to the puzzle about 8 times
@moomooheadme8843 that's easily done! Glad you found it!
