    I would have never spent that much. BUT, Watching this video gave me a spark of hope. In the last 4 years ive lost almost my entire family,the greatest pain was losing my son Benjamin. My sons have always told me to do stuff for myself. I have a hard time doing so.I love the idea behind this brand and it stands for things in believe you were in. After the years of trauma and losing Ben, for the first time i felt lost. This sparked memories of the past and reminded me of who am. I love what this company is doing. Seeing the stunning packaging makes me happy.

    Oh boy, I could watch that slow motion blurry clip of those swatches all day! Talk about entrancing. Elephant and Rhinoceros caught my eye as well - that sparkle is really something else. I have only felt these single eyeshadows at the counter, and the packaging didn’t wow me either. I also don’t like pictures of animals on my makeup (though I appreciate the cause and ethos of Chanatecaille’s line). The shadows look gorgeous on you! I like the look you created, and it looked like it held up impressively after working, gardening, and being rained on - talk about a hard day’s work!
    Always so fun to hear your thoughts about makeup, especially the alliterative touches you add to your explanations. 😉 Well done for exercising self control with the new Mustang collection. I know the struggle all too well!

    • @TheStyleStumbler
      @TheStyleStumbler  Год назад

      I know! Editing those blurry swatches was quite hypnotic. 😂
      I can understand not wanting eyeshadow staring back up at us from our vanities in the form of animal eyes. Now that I‘m thinking about it, it‘s kind of spooky. (Is that elephant judging me? ) I‘ve put them in a makeup bag now so that they can‘t stare at me. But, like you, I appreciate the causes Chantecaille supports, and it is definitely convenient, having differentiated packaging.
      And yes! It was quite impressive how well they held up, especially considering the fact that it was hot and humid in the garden.
      Thanks for always taking a moment to say hello and leave such thoughtful comments!

    Thanks for reviewing these! I was one of the ones that was interested in your thoughts about them.
    I am trying to curate my makeup to a fairly low number. The decision fatigue from an overabundance of eye shadow choices is very real for me. I do have the financial means to indulge a bit as well.
    I guess at my point in life (I'm 64) - a special single eyeshadow (or trio or quad) would be a better option than a Mothership pallette. I would never wear a lot of the shades in a Pat McGrath or Natasha Denona pallette. If I looked at how many shades I would wear vs the price, instead of the total number of shades - that makes a big difference.
    Thanks again for such a wonderful thorough review!

    • @TheStyleStumbler

      I’m so glad you enjoyed it! The struggle with decision fatigue is very real. So if you have the means to indulge in one of these, it sounds like it would be a beautiful way to downsize your collection a bit.
      Is there a particular color that you’re interested in? I’ll be near a shop that has the new collection this weekend, so I know I’ll be swatching those soon, too. Even though I don’t plan on purchasing one for myself, I might do some early Christmas shopping. 😉

I adore them all but I wear them very rarely, but I’m always looking for an excuse to!! I think they’re only worth it on sale or like you said, if you want to give a nice gift, or if you don’t have any special shades already 🤷 I agree that the new ones are SO TEMPTING! • @zachbecvar
    @zachbecvar Год назад +1

    There is something to be said for functional packaging that helps delineate products in a range. Having utilitarian packaging can cause headaches.
    The sparkle really comes through in the blurred video of the swatches. Even my neophyte eye can tell it's something special. Looking at the whole line swathed out, I am amazed by the brilliance of the sparkle across all the colors. Some do look more monochromatic than others, but they all look like real life fairy dust is the only way I can put it. And that Pangolin color finding the sweet spot mixing pink and purple is amazing.
    Again, you do a great job of being well rounded in your review as far as application and wear. As a consumer of the product's end result and seeing people wearing eye shadow, I think subtler shades work better than intense ones. The subtler the shade, the more wow the sparkle has. And that, for me at least, makes in more impressive and memorable to see. But I have also seen people who went the more intense route and it ended up looking like Mimi from the Drew Carey Show got glitter bombed.
    In your final appraisal you make a lot of good points about the economics of these shadows. Not knowing anything about makeup pricing, I found myself questioning the cost for one shade when I'm sure there are myriad palettes that are at the same price point and would provide more utility. But I'm also sure that the company knows there are customers that only need one shade and will pay to get the exact right thing for them. In general, the cost discussion sounds like the shadows are perfectly situated where people would be really excited to be gifted them because the self-instigated, common sense/practicality arguments probably keep people from buying it for themselves.

    • @TheStyleStumbler
      @TheStyleStumbler  Год назад +1

      You put it perfectly: these truly do like like real life fairy dust! Even the monochromatic ones are special, especially in the sun. I’m so glad I was able to capture the sparkle of these - it’s so hard to do!!
      Chantecaille definitely knows who they’re marketing to. And although my current curation process and non-makeup financial goals currently limit my beauty purchases, there are definitely people with the means and the mindset to indulge in these. I think it must be the same for most things - there’s luxury cookware, pens, cars, furniture and accessories, and people out there willing to spend that money in order to have something special. And perhaps in the future, once I’ve curated all of my makeup, I’ll be one of those people. 😉
      Is there anything that has been tempting you at the moment? How far are you along down your TBR list?

    • @zachbecvar
      @zachbecvar Год назад +1

      @@TheStyleStumbler I really haven't been tempted by much of anything lately, but then I don't really go out browsing much anymore so my purchases are much more selective. I'm much more in the habit lately of looking at things as "that would be nice to have, but how long would I enjoy it?" I think I'm finally starting to focus on spending money for experiences rather than stuff. There are still things I want, but I'm trying to be more considerate in my purchasing.
      My TBR list is slowly but surely shrinking a book at a time. I didn't realize how hard it would be sometimes picking something to read. Bu I suppose that's on me for reading non fiction that is a little harder to escape into. It's slow going a little bit when I start a new book, but once I'm in it I finish it. I've finally circled back to some of the Irish history books I bought a few years ago. My hope is that once I get one done it'll rekindle my interest and reading will be easier.

    • @TheStyleStumbler
      @TheStyleStumbler  Год назад +1

      @@zachbecvar That sounds like a great place to be. Browsing has definitely led to me making less-than-ideal purchases in the past. When I'm home I don't tend to browse much. But when I'm out and about in new places, I tend to naturally see beautiful things to want. Luckily I've also gotten into the habit of asking myself similar questions, and that has dramatically cut down on my purchases.
      I think it's great that you're diving into non-fiction so heartily. When I read, it's usually because I'm seeking an escape from real-world stress. So I usually gravitate towards fiction. But there's so much I don't know about history and the world in general. I'm sure it would make me more well-rounded if I threw in some non-fiction on occasion. ;-)

    • @zachbecvar
      @zachbecvar Год назад

      @@TheStyleStumbler On the rare occasions when I travel somewhere, I like to browse and find some local things, plus I'm still questing for that ever elusive pith helmet. I think the change is due in large part that I'm trying to convince my parents to get rid of a lot of extraneous junk that's been collected over the years so when the time comes, there's less stuff to have to deal with. It has led me to look at my own purchasing habits.
      I can't really read fiction any more. Outside of a couple of series that I've been into for along time, nothing really grabs me. I find things that have actually happened much more interesting. But I do sometimes miss the escapist quality of getting sucked into a good story.

    • @TheStyleStumbler
      @TheStyleStumbler  Год назад +1

      @@zachbecvar Seeing clutter from the perspective of what we will leave behind is certainly helpful when deciding against purchasing things. It's "preemptive decluttering." 😀
      I have to admit, most of my reading is the same books over and over again. I haven't really stretched my literary wings in a while.
