Same! I'm not huge into black metal but I knew i had to give it a listen with the lovecraftian theme. Love it. If he were alive he'd write a story about the up and coming asteroid and the degrading color/gas or misanthropic alien fungi it contained. Master of horror.
When I first heard this, I instantly had to order this album. Now it runs in the car, constantly! Just fucking amazing! For me one of the very finest releases this year.
Holy shit. As soon as this started I put it in full screen and just listened to that intro and stared at that album art. Such a great first impression. The artist behind that cover absolutely grasped that "Lovecraftian" theme in my opinion - the style is excellent and some of the techniques used to create the "thing" in the image make it look as though it's literally a higher dimensional being. A lot of the time I feel like the artist behind album covers don't get enough praise, so I just thought I'd say that!
The artist behind the album cover is the same guy who worked on their previous album covers - and it's none other than Jeff Grimal, the guitarist. A very talented guy indeed... :)

It is just such a bizarre and amazing experience, when I listen to this music and I fell like the creators and I had just the same perception of certain themes and beings from the mythos. I listen to this sound, and I feel like "YES! That is exactly Nyarlathotep!". Or Azathoth. Or Hastur. And I just feel this big smile grow on my face, but on the other hand, it's a little unnerving. As if it just resided somewhere, in the collective unconsciousness of us all. Nevertheless, extremely satisfying. And such great music, one of the best finds of this year so far.
@z k If you are a fellow earthling, then I doubt either of us holds the authority to declare something “cthulian” or not ;) Eldritch lies in the eye of the beholder (no D&D pun intended). I listened to many artists inspired by Lovecraft’s writings, metal but also jazz, classical, experimental and other, and I think they all add something new and interesting and fresh to the perspective. The truth is, no single band or even genre will ever be able to convey the feeling of pure madness and chaos (or rather grand, overwhelming order beyond our ability to comprehend) that constitutes the essence of the beings Lovecraft created, given how completely alien they are supposed to be to us, and that we always will be limited to our human means of expression. I guess what I’m trying to say is - to each their own. But I would love to hear your recommendations.
@@Jurica-mtb One I really like is Nekrosis ( ruclips.net/video/jI0SjJv9fwo/видео.html ), but sadly I don't think you'll find many of their works on youtube. You might also find Alexandre Herer interesting. He sometimes goes more into classical music territory, but still very jazzy. I can also recommend La Musica de Erich Zann ( ruclips.net/video/q4latnawUkE/видео.html ), although they are reeally pushing the limits of what you can call jazz.
