Same! I'm not huge into black metal but I knew i had to give it a listen with the lovecraftian theme. Love it. If he were alive he'd write a story about the up and coming asteroid and the degrading color/gas or misanthropic alien fungi it contained. Master of horror.

Holy shit. As soon as this started I put it in full screen and just listened to that intro and stared at that album art. Such a great first impression. The artist behind that cover absolutely grasped that "Lovecraftian" theme in my opinion - the style is excellent and some of the techniques used to create the "thing" in the image make it look as though it's literally a higher dimensional being. A lot of the time I feel like the artist behind album covers don't get enough praise, so I just thought I'd say that!

    • @Batumtl

The artist behind the album cover is the same guy who worked on their previous album covers - and it's none other than Jeff Grimal, the guitarist. A very talented guy indeed... :)

When i heard this album the first time, it made me feel like i was at the anticipation of the awakening of Chthulu. (Cosmic Depths)
As the album goes on, i visualize the big beast moving his fingers first(The Omniscient)
    Then his toes.(Of Dementia)
...Closing and opening hands to recovery movement from the eternal slumber(Lost Carcosa)
...Then standing up slowly and patiently(A Thousand Young - Dreams Of Nuclear Chaos)
...And at the moment it opened its eyes (Nyarlathotep)
...The album ended. Then i knew that we were so fucked...and FINALLY the end of all mankind, begun.
    Chthulu Fgtagn!

It is just such a bizarre and amazing experience, when I listen to this music and I fell like the creators and I had just the same perception of certain themes and beings from the mythos. I listen to this sound, and I feel like "YES! That is exactly Nyarlathotep!". Or Azathoth. Or Hastur. And I just feel this big smile grow on my face, but on the other hand, it's a little unnerving. As if it just resided somewhere, in the collective unconsciousness of us all. Nevertheless, extremely satisfying. And such great music, one of the best finds of this year so far.

    • @rockingpinaple
      @rockingpinaple 4 года назад +1

@z k If you are a fellow earthling, then I doubt either of us holds the authority to declare something “cthulian” or not ;) Eldritch lies in the eye of the beholder (no D&D pun intended). I listened to many artists inspired by Lovecraft’s writings, metal but also jazz, classical, experimental and other, and I think they all add something new and interesting and fresh to the perspective. The truth is, no single band or even genre will ever be able to convey the feeling of pure madness and chaos (or rather grand, overwhelming order beyond our ability to comprehend) that constitutes the essence of the beings Lovecraft created, given how completely alien they are supposed to be to us, and that we always will be limited to our human means of expression.
I guess what I’m trying to say is - to each their own. But I would love to hear your recommendations.

@@Jurica-mtb One I really like is Nekrosis ( ruclips.net/video/jI0SjJv9fwo/видео.html ), but sadly I don't think you'll find many of their works on youtube. You might also find Alexandre Herer interesting. He sometimes goes more into classical music territory, but still very jazzy. ( ruclips.net/video/YuOpjN-n2qc/видео.html and yes, it would appear that I might have a thing for Yog Sothoth:P). I can also recommend La Musica de Erich Zann ( ruclips.net/video/q4latnawUkE/видео.html ), although they are reeally pushing the limits of what you can call jazz. I would say they balance on a fine line between jazz and... I don't even know what to call that, but I love it. If there was such a thing as non-euclidean music, that would be it.

Finally found another progressive black metal band(or whatever adjective you wanna add to that description) to rival Blut Aus Nord in atmosphere and surreal songwriting. Beautiful stuff.

For sure. If you don't mind some dissonance check out Pyrrhon and Ulcerate and Deathspell Omega. Intense and progressive stuff and all over the place in the best way.

@@joseph-zoramcbride4029 I appreciate the suggestions. I actually already know about Ulcerate and Deathspell Omega. The former is one of my favorite bands, the latter I haven't dived deep into yet but the little bit I heard from them was really nice. Pyrrhon I haven't heard yet, I'll note them down.
I'll give you one recommendation myself if you already haven't heard of them; The Axis of Perdition. Industrial Black Metal, with thematic and lyrical influences stemming from the Silent Hill games

they're good, but they don't rival Blut Aus Nord who has been making music for nearly 30 years.

This album is so fucking good. I've been following TGOO since 2012 (saw them live in Paris opening for Aura Noir!) and each album is better than the previous. (And I still love Al-Azif a LOT)

I have a question regarding the artwork, is the LP version available with the current artwork appearing on this video ? I prefer it so much than the alternative one (with blue tones and tentacles), looking less attractive. Thanks
