I got up to almost 3k on my first run with a casino and had no idea how much money that was and gambled it all away 5 hours of playing later I was kicking myself for that decision
I normally like metta progression but this is one of the times I’ll agree with olexa. This game doesn’t need that. I think the metta progression to unlock new units is fine but it would be better if it was locked behind challenges instead of currency.
As a dev, I think the idea with the meta progression is you want it to not feel like a total waste of time if you lose a run. But I agree with you here Olexa that the ideal would be less: meta unlocks make the game more fun, and more: meta unlocks give the games different modes/styles to try. Great review!
Personally I really love Meta Progression. I'm not very good at video games so I really like the artificial progress feeling of just making the game gradually easier. I think the best option would be to go the ballatro route and just let you hit a button to unlock everything immediately. That way if you don't like progression you can skip it and I can enjoy my little dopamine drip.
I don’t really get this though? It’s not the game gradually getting easier. It’s the game literally gating you from winning. You’re not bad at videogames, you’re playing games that don’t want you to win.

Yeah this game needs a core design rework. Something about getting a card after every turn (while it is engaging as you can shape your build after every turn) promotes very slow play. And the system of radial buffs encouraging spreading out vs the automatic combining of the units reducing your spread seems unenjoyable. He healed for 1hp from that relic as opposed to blocking 2 damage every turn.
Yes, this relic is very weak.
It looked like it would be a big burst heal, giving 1 every 10 damage, or at least every 10 damage hit from a unit.. But nope, just 1/turn. Trash.
Yeah it did not do what i thought it would do unfortunately
@@OlexaYT to be fair, I too kinda expected it to heal 1 per unit with 10 or more

Maybe another dabble in Cube Chaos once Lingo is over?

I feel like you whiffed on the shapeshifter meta. That's how you're going to get upgraded units without building them late game.
@Olexa meta progression in this game is fine, he just needs to lock it until AFTER all the content is unlocked. Or use different currency for it.

Any plans to play the new Zelda roguelike

You can make replayability with stat based meta progression. Encourage your player to win instead of forcing them to lose.
Can you not kill enemy and just get shields every turn?
You can but enemies scale up their damage as the fight continues. I don’t think it’d be possible to only get shields and outpace them
Doesn't the shapeshifter have the ability to copy your big things into another big thing? Shouldn't you take it more late game?
