    I am full time domainer and I "thought" this was going be another guru video I get tired of hearing the same stuff but you never know when you find a nugget and guess what you hit the nail on the head. I am super impressed with all the information in this video. Now I do sell domains without website attached more frequently than explained here but that has taken me year of sweat, tears and cash to get there. I sell probably 50 or more domains a year that may not sound like alot but if you compare that to my inventory it certainly is. I have alot of junk and alot of amazing names but I do alot of marketing, cold calling, emailing and alot of chase to put all these down. It can be make some good money but exhausting and VERY expensive to get things down and be confident about it. You have a new subscriber here this was an incredible video thank you for not misleading people best of luck of my friend.

      @Call me lil Hi Lil, yes I do this full time which is my entire income to support my family. Don't get me wrong it took along time to get here and I fell on my face alot I have alot of great domains, some good and some just total crap. The trick is find buyers you have to hunt anywhere from startups to well established businesses but if anyone thinks they can just buy a domain put up a sales lander or list of Afternic or even worse appraise through GD crappy appraisal tool and pick something up for 12 bucks it will magically sell for thousands is dead wrong. I was refreshed to see you pushing content that is closer to reality than 90% of what you see online. You have to embrace the process, hunt like a hunter, and find the perfect match that is where the real money comes. I obviously sell on Afternic, Sedo aftermarket places in general I do a few a month that way but majority of mine are sold through straight hustle cold call, cold email etc if it doesn't sell I then decide what to do with it. I have developed some in the past and ranked them and then go back to the all the no's show them it's ranked and the traffic and of course they want to buy for original price but those are no longer for sale I strictly sign with a company and they buy leads exclusively from me basically a flat fee for the month I have yet to have anyone not pay becuase the leads are good but if they do I keep a list of interested parties and will cancel the contract and move on to the next interested person. That may sound harsh but I bust my tail everyday to nurture my names into a sale or work for me and I don't have time to play the games some people want to play. I know that's a long answer but my point is I work many avenues to get there and it is a full time job I do however make a nice new profit and it's fun for me so it works out but it is not easy and it never will be so anyone looking for a quick buck it is not for them. I have subscribed to your channel and really like your content keep it up your doing it right brotha as I mentioned in my previous comment you inspired me to take on a whole nother project which is already on the works 💪 thanks Lil hope this answers your question and wish you all the success

    Domain investing is still profitable. Everybody looks for the quick buck. With good brandable domains one can expect a str of only 1 to 2 %. However the RR can be massive.
    Domain Investing and waiting sometimes 3 or 4 years for a domain to sell is the reality. Its a mix of having 1000s of quality names. I have sold sold 3 domains for $2500, $1995 and $1200 in last 2 months. I have around 1000 names. So I diasagree with the proposition however agree the method presented here would also be profitable.

      Is str, sell-through-rate? If so, do you let the other 98-99% expire? And how do you know when to let it go?
      What does your average domain sell for?
      Where do you sell?
      How long have you been domain flipping?

    Bro buying a domain name similar to big brands or companies is profitable?or there will be some legal issues like trademark or any other issues? Please explain it

    • @callmelil
      @callmelil  Год назад +4

      We're diving into hot water here, so I'm going to go ahead and start with a disclaimer: I am not a lawyer, and this is not legal advice-just my best understanding.
      In these examples, generally no. You can't really infringe on someone's trademark just by buying a domain name. It's all about what you do with it.
      There are two things at play here: trademark infringement and deception.
      Trademark infringement: Generally a trademark exists only in a given country in a given market. I can generally use a brand name in a different country OR a different market. So if Best Buy sells computers in the USA, I might still be able to create a brand name called "Best Buy Cupcakes" and sell cupcakes across the USA without infringing on their trademark. I might also be able to create a brand name that sells computers in a different country, like South Africa, for example, where Best Buy has no ties and no registered trademarks (just an example, I have no idea if they have ties or trademarks in SA).
      Now important to note, I can't be sued for trademark infringement if it's not the same trademark. Maybe Best Buy has a trademark on the term "Best Buy Computers", but not "Best Bye Computers" (like goodbye).
      Deception: This is where the second one comes in, because I cannot MISLEED people into thinking I am another brand. If a judge decides that a "reasonable person" (legal term) could be tricked into believing I was THAT company, I could still get in trouble. As you can imagine, this is where we enter a bit of a gray area, but if you copied Best Buy's branding and products with a new website called bestbye.com, you could land yourself into some legal trouble.
      This of course, isn't the end of the story, though, because if you had bestbye.com and made no attempt to misleed people (let's say you sold greeting or goodbye cards), there is nothing Best Buy could do about it.
      Same thing with my example smiggle vs swiggle. It's not an exact copy of the brand name, so I CAN work in the same market and in the same country. However, I CAN'T do anything that could be perceived as "impersonating" the other brand. The owner of swiggle.com doesn't really risk this anyway, as they haven't done anything with the domain name. It's just sitting there.

    hello I am just starting to look into maybe flipping domains but I am just curious and confused, my question is how can I say that I own it or bought the domain if I am just paying for it for like $12 a year? Do I actually own it if thats the case?

    • @callmelil
      @callmelil  Год назад +2

      Yes and no.
      Your website exists on a server that may or may not be reachable at an IP address like “213.205.240.23”. ICANN is a nonprofit that administers domain names and connects them with your server to be more “human-readable”. The infrastructure to do that costs money, so some of that $12/year goes to ICANN. The rest goes to your domain name provider (like Google Domains) for facilitating and all the other tools you might get (like DNS hosting, email forward, domain privacy, etc..)
      You do “own” your domain name in the same way you own any other digital asset (eg you can buy, sell, rent out, or use it). Google and ICANN can’t dictate what you do with it. But unlike other digital assets, if you aren’t continuing to pay for the infrastructure we all rely on, you will lose it.
      Does that make sense?

    • @callmelil
      @callmelil  Год назад +1

      @@jmj2638 Sorry for the confusion, I don't buy and sell expired domain names, and I don't think the market for them is very big. I buy domain names, build them into fully-fledged/turnkey businesses and sell those. I'm currently building 23 businesses + a marketplace to house them.
      In terms of B2C vs B2B, I have sold to both individual customers and larger businesses. Businesses are usually looking for email lists and traffic-many of them will incorporate the site into their existing businesses, while "customers" are looking for something they can turn into their own. Hopefully, that answers your question. Are you in the market, or looking to do something similar?

    • @jmj2638
      @jmj2638 Год назад

      I see. So I run a web design business and looking into purchasing expired domains and then building out fully functional website and selling them as a packages. So for example buying and NFT domain and building an NFT website and packaging that domain with that website to sell.

    • @callmelil
      @callmelil  Год назад

      That’s pretty much what I’m doing, but I don’t think having expired domains adds much. The main idea behind having an expired domain (in the past) is that the previous owner would be interested in buying it. That isn’t really the case any more. I focus on “brandable” domains. What’s your web design agency?

    • @callmelil

      Their entire business model is predicated on luring people in with cheap offers and then WAY over charging them later on automatic subscriptions. As an example, a new domain is £0.01 here in the UK for the first year, but only if you signup for 3 years at a time (subsequent years are £17.97 or $22.25). OR you can get it for £8.99 first year without the 3 year commitment, but then it still renews at £17.97 later on. In that case, they have weird rules, like you can't transfer your domain to another registrar for the first 90 days, for the sole reason that you'll probably forget before your renewal date.
      Google domains, by contrast sold domains for a flat $12/year. No gimmicks, and you got stuff included that Godaddy tried to upsell you for, like email forwards, etc..I should note here that Google domains was recently bought by Squarespace, so my updated Sep 2023 recommendation is buying from Cloudflare. They charge a flat $9.77/year for .com domains and they do pretty much everything the same.
      It's obviously not just domains, they do this with everything they sell and the quality of their hosting, email, page builder is basically garbage on top of being expensive. Their standard single site hosting plan, for example goes from £4.99/month and renews at £143.99/year (more than double).
      Obviously, luring new users in with cheap offer is not exclusive to Godaddy, but their product is just total and utter shit. You can get better for cheaper via literally anyone else. Even servercheap.com/ has better hosting and you can get a whole VPS (that can probably handle 5+ sites) for like $3/month (which is half of GD's offer price for a single site, nevermind their renewal price).
      They basically entirely depend on gullible people buying a shitty product over the sticker price. And as if that wasn't enough, their support is absolutely attrocious. First of allm they are basically clueless about anything tech-related, and on top of that, I had a client early in my career who had her whole business, whole means of making an income, completely wiped out with the push of a button. Poof. Gone. because one of their reps had no idea what he was doing.
      So anyway, I digress.

      @callmelil  2 года назад +4

      It’s not some life-changing mistake, because you can still transfer away from them. I think they have some policy that you have to wait 90 days after you register (stupid), but you know…do that as soon as you can. They say they do that for security reasons, but the real reason is they’re hoping you’ll forget and let it go for automatice renewal-which is where they make their money. And I think that tells you everything you need to know about their business practices.
      Everything is designed to take you further down their sales funnel where they overcharge for everything, including services that Google gives away for free. Like domain privacy. Sometimes, they resort to downright blackmail. If you forget to renew your domain, they will snag it for a 30 or 90 day extension and try to charge you hundreds to get it back-again, a service Google offers for free.
      Not to mention, all of Godaddy’s tools are more complex and harder to use, and their hosting is basically worthless. Your site will never rank in search engines sitting on one of their shared servers.

      There are cheaper options (down to like $9 for .com domains) and those few dollars can make a dent in your bottom line if you are buying thousands of domains (for 10's of thousands of $'s). However, most of them won't offer the same service, features, and ease of use at the same price. I have 5 domain names and would to get monthly income from them.
      Thank you in advance for your input.

    So basically, it is not a good way to make money online

    • @callmelil
      @callmelil  2 года назад

      But it is! There’s good money to be made in buying a domain, creating a brand, and building an audience or content in a specific niche. “Simply” flipping domains is on average, a losing proposition

      @@callmelil Hi all, I invest in domain names. You have flippers and investors. Flipping is typically trying to resell within the first year to avoid the renewal. Often this is buying hand reg (from a registrar) and typically the profit is small e.g £50 -£150 but excellent ROI. Paying more for better quality names and holding for a few years its generally when you get sales in the thousands, but of course sometimes you get lucky and buy a hand reg and sell for for 1000 X. Hope that helps

      No one said they are rebranding. It's all about finding something that "sounds familiar". Crapple was obviously a joke, but Swiggle is actually listed for hundreds of thousands.

    You're close but you're leaving out what makes domains valuable and business will pay those prices because they would have to hire a crew and spend 5-10k a month if a big business building the most important thing that has to do with domains. Thats the critical part. Little word called backlinks

      What are back links?

    • @3129andrew
      @3129andrew Год назад

      relevent backlinks
      I bought a bunch of bung domains from godaddy using AHrefs before I figured what I was doing, now I'm learning how to make simple wordpress sites to build them out. content generation is the most difficult unless you outsource which I think I might write them up instead of out sourcing

    • @callmelil
      @callmelil  Год назад

      Backlinks are not nearly as important as they used to be, and backlink building is a very easy way to get your site marked as spam. That’s why I didn’t mention it. I have not actively sought backlinks in 5-6 years, yet I have dozens of sites with traffic I couldn’t have dreamt of back 5 years ago. They have some backlinks, it happens naturally as you build a following, but I wouldn’t make it an SEO focus in 2023, and I actively discourage my clients from it as well.
      UX, speed, social media, and retention are more important than ever before. The Google algo is looking more like the YT algo every day

    • @callmelil
      @callmelil  Год назад +1

      Yeah, the .com versions of everything will probably always be most valuable, but .io and .ai domains are really popular in the tech space. The primary thing you want to keep in mind when picking the tld is that to flip domains, you need to create and provide value. Branding, traffic, content, are all valuable. Some random domain name with nothing else-regardless of the tld-really doesn't provide value. Second thing is just avoid traditionally scammy tld's like .biz, .xyz, .live, etc..

    I have a question regarding domains. I would like to know if i can resell a domain on for example godaddy for any price.
    For example, I buy a domain on godaddy for 1 euro and then want to sell it on godaddy for 1 million euros, would this be possible? If so, what are the requirements for this? So the question is basically can i set the price as high as i want.
    Greetings.

    • @callmelil

      You can set the price to whatever you want. No rules, just like I could set the price of my candy bar to €1 million. Will someone pay that for it though? That’s the question
