Fred Fellows, CA Emeritus (b. 1934) Fred Fellows was born in 1934 in Ponca City, Oklahoma, home to the Ponca and Osage Indians. Early influences that shaped his desire to be an artist and nurtured his love of the cowboy life included his aunt who went to Taos, New Mexico every summer to study under Nicolai Fechin and Birger Sandzen. She encouraged Fred to draw and paint at an early age. He also grew up listening to stories of the Old West from his grandmother's brother who rode in Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show and later the 101 Ranch Wild West Show, as well as his grandfather who went to Tonopah and Goldfield, Nevada, during the 1905 gold rush. Fred started out as a saddle-maker for Butler Saddlery in Paramount, California, and went on to be a cowboy on the Jamison Ranch at Monolith, California, and then an art director for Northrup Aircraft. This all led to an interesting blend of art and the West, and a lifetime of painting and sculpting. Fred is the longest active member of the CAA, joining in 1969. He has won Gold and Silver medals in drawing, sculpture and painting. One of his proudest moments was to receive the highly coveted CAA Award at the 2007 show, voted by active members for the best overall exhibition. He also is proud of his wife, Deborah, an accomplished sculptor, who is a member of the National Sculpture Society and inductee into the National Cowgirl Hall Museum and Hall of Fame in Fort Worth, Texas.
Fred is the longest active member of the CAA, joining in 1969. He has won Gold and Silver medals in drawing, sculpture and painting. One of his proudest moments ... the CAA is the Cowboy Artist of America.
Loved this video……..hilarious! So nice of Grandpa to make a swimming hole! Reggie just went along with the flow…..boots on the wrong feet, twice. No socks….didn’t want them…he’s doing much better on horse back. Thanks for shooting this video for us Ramsey.
It truly amazes me how you find enough time in a day to do all that you do. Love the fact that all your videos are all whole family participation. You don't see that much anymore.
Your cattle crew will grow as the neighboring young cowboys come to help and court Sissy. Bad news is your cowboys will start to wander over to the neighbors to help. Fun times ahead. Wandering cattle and wandering kids. Good luck ole dad.
My father kept our old baler working with 'swears and prayers'. One year it broke and the part wouldn't be in for a week. We had hay on the ground and couldn't wait. We welded a tongue onto my grandfather's old horse-drawn dump rake so it could be pulled with the tractor. I rode on the rake, stomping the pedal. We then loaded the hay loose onto the wagon, using pitchforks, and got it into the barn before the rain came. I learned some 19th century pitchfork techniques I'll never use again, but that day really made me appreciate hay bales!
Dam, those kids are getting the best upbringing. Comming from a large family of 8 boys and 2 girls it amazes me how well those boys get along, we were always fighting or arguing about something on the farm and being the Ridgie of our family (second youngest) I seemed to cop most of it. Must be the good family values and a handy upbringing y'all is providing them.
Wow, is 8 boy's and 2 girls I thought I have lots of siblings 5 boys and 4 girls I just found your video's amazing you are a really good dad it's crazy how much you look like my brothers
A way of life, more than just a job, your kids and family are experiencing and learn so many things that will stay with a person the rest of their life. Fond memories.
Nice buckle collection. I think they started mid 1970s. The cattle drives are fun to watch. Thank you for all your work in getting these videos for us to watch. We use empty soda and gatorade bottles for ice, wash them out so you can drink the water and fill them about 3/4 full, they last all week if you can pack them in a good cooler like your freezer. Stay safe and healthy.
I grew up in New England in the 70s and 80s, and there were only the small hay bales. We handled them all by hand, with a lot of throwing and carrying. Picked them up in the field and threw them up onto a hay wagon 6 or 7 layers high, then unloaded and stacked them into old barns, throwing them up 8-10' above the wagon, stacking right to the roof. Those small bales only weighed about 40 pounds, but 3 people getting in 800-1000 bales a day, after having to carry and throw each one by hand, multiple times, was tiring.
Love to see some footage of that split ear roan giving you problems . Or when things don't go right. You making it look to easy and making the rest of us look bad.
Congratulations and I know you will being adding to your trophies 🏆 🏆🏆 at National's in Georgia🎉🎉🎉 Love watching your lives unfold on You Tube... Blessings to this family for all the enjoyment you bring to all of us views... 🎉🎉🎉
Swimming, horse riding, what could be better especially in this heat. Some got them q big floppy hat but not a sombrero. Wish I could ride a horse like that.
Hi Ram and Laura what beautiful video from start getting everything ready lots of work and trails drive awesome seeing sissy involved and on horse 🐎 and as always you and you’re families be safe 🇺🇸🇺🇸
A beach, orange crush and grandma's cooking ! We're do I sign up? Love watching all the super punchers doing what has become a lost art in other parts of cattle country.
I would go and work for free for a week just to see the scenery and cow/calves . The blk and white with horns reminded me of my cow she had a tow tone paint and normal horns. Was always easy to tell my calves from polled Herefords. I wish I would have been as smart as Riley and just take the biggest yearling !!! LOL just kidding Riley. Riley, you better get your own registered brand going soon. Maybe a flying lariat with a short twister tale.
Perry Georgia.... The only thing I knew happened there was beer making. There was a brewery in Perry Georgia in the 80s that I hauled a lot of beer out of. I don t know if it's still open or not.
Thanks for taking us along. My late granddaddy took us 7 grandkids ( all my siblings) with him to herd the cattle on the 110 acres farm when were kids. This would be a dream then and now
Love your videos and getting to know the person narrating rides the horse with the split ear and little one on the biggest spotted horse but what a wonderful bunch of achievements your crew has brought home ALL OF THEM THANK YOU
tell some stories about your lives, your wife, your parents that would set up how you are raising your families. Just a fun story time maybe?Adventures are always good.
Thanks for the explanation. I was wondering if it was a assortment of owners that y’all just got them all together and then did whatever dispersed of them to their rightful owners and their areas
Where you got those lead cattle held up in the narrow wash looks like you are all waiting to pull off an ambush! Ridgie being himself always makes me chuckle. He is one tough cowboy to be in the saddle for 3 days traveling over some rough rocky terrain. Once again Ridge is riding the best horse of the bunch and once again I am so envious. Thanks for showing us this gorgeous land. What is the elevation there ?
Why hasn't anyone invented a cup holder for saddles? 🤔 The horn is used while mounting and roping, but 99.8% of the time it does nothing. Strap a drink can holder onto it! 😉
I used to tie a horse bad about setting back to where if he set back it would be into a new barb wire fence. You can put a single section of fence by where you normally park the trailer. Usually setting back on that barb wire a couple times will teach them thats not the best choice !!!
Love the sombrero hat, needs some beads and tassels, though, and, jus a small piece of advice, I wouldn't wear it in a strong wind with the chin strap on....
Michael Landon (Pa on Little House On the Prairie) has a daughter who is an actress, she plays Teeter on Yellowstone, a Texas born ranch hand whose accent is so thick no one in Montana can understand her.
Ramsey there's a kroner big baler that make small bales and ties that Me and then presses the into.abig square bale. May be you can find someone that uses one.
Hard to beleive we have young people who complain about working and beleive they are worth $20 an hour flipping burgers. These children are well grounded and know that work is life and life is work. This gives me hope for the next generation. It is also quite refreshing to not see obese children.

Ridgie not REGGIE
When Ridgie switched his boots, he put them back the same way he had them.
So funny.
What awesome parenting skills you two have. Allowing your children to use their imagination and ingenuity is priceless.
It truly amazes me how you find enough time in a day to do all that you do. Love the fact that all your videos are all whole family participation. You don't see that much anymore.
I believe the one you have in your hand it's Air Wolf the Saddle Bronc horse.

Looks like John Wayne will come loping around the corner with the bad guys after him. Fun way to work.

Interesting. You say "soda." In Texas it was "soda water." In Boston they were all "tonic,"
