- So you may be seeing Teddy in a cone in the background of a view videos, he had an operation. Teddy is now officially neutered / castrated. We’ve always had Teddy chemically castrated with an implant but it doesn’t last long and I decided to make the permanent decision.
Teddy really struggled the first couple of the days with the cone and I assume the pain but thankfully he was doing much better after a few days!
Here’s the full 2 week recovery vlog
Awe poor Teddy. He needs a really soft pillow.
You can purchase some rescue remedy online it will help with the Trauma and shock he will heal faster
@@Temarama7 He already healed, she did apply some paste, it's all over now...
You saw that pillow didn't help, and anyway it's all over now...
Poor Teddy. He's very uncomfortable by the looks of it.
Poor Tedster
He’s so sweet. Quick healer
Nathan getting cuter and cuter daily . Beautiful son .
At about 6:00 after he had the blow up thing on for a bit, then smiled into the camera, so cute! 🥰
@@ronsamborski6230 smart little boy .
@@tinamorgante6882 Wait until he starts talking full words and sentences. It’s going to be a lot of fun. 👍🏼
I am sorry Tedmeister is so uncomfortable. We had our male Malamute nuetered last year at 1 and 1/2. He wasn't as uncomfortable as Teddy and had no cone. We had to keep eyes on him constantly since Montana wanted to take care of things himself. Big hug for Teddy.
Always a good idea to get them done when they're much younger, poor Teddy needs to be indoors so when he its it's not on concrete! Hopefully those pain killers will make him feel more comfortable. There are so many animals in rescue that need adopting (including various pure breeds), no need to breed, and so many animals that don't like being shown, so I think you've definitely done the right thing by you and Teddy. Aww so glad he's recovered well, he leads a lovely life with you all! xx
Don't feel guilty. You are being a responsible owner. He will get past this as will you. ❤❤❤
i mean i dont think i'd call it responsible owner lol. I understand why they did it,,,some dogs its a mess to constantly watch them and i understand it. But for boys it shortens their life span and they always get fat. I've had 5 huskies,,,3 boys and never got them fixed and they all lived to be 17- 17 in a half years old.
Absolutely! And everyone will be happier in the long run.
@@Killercoldice22That's interesting, I've heard that neutering male or female dogs increases their life span. I like hearing other people's experiences on dog care though.
@@Reticence9zen924 No i know what your saying but most neutered dogs lose energy and gain weight and its hard for them to burn it off. Its only a benefit if your dog roams outside and could possible get into fights like male cats. If your dog has free land and big yard, their is no need to neuter them. For example there farm land and big huge yard is a dream come true for people to have non neutered pets. Most of the time people only neuter there dogs cause they live in a small home or have no yard space and most vets say if you have a big open space that is safe for them to run in there is no need to neuter your pet. But they keep teddy inside alot and dont want to clean the mess up of him marking his home, and i understand that. Just stating its not beneficial to neuter the dog if tthey live in a safe place. With all the huge open land they have, i wouldn't dream of fixing teddy.
Thank you Emma and Shane for presenting this in a sort of time lapse, so that by the end of the video, Teddy was healing well, and done with the cone. In that way it’s better for us viewers, and probably makes more sense from your perspective, too. Best wishes for continued healing for Teddy. 😊
We just did it for our large dog three weeks ago. Don’t skip on pain meds and limit his movement. I did not listen to the vet and let my dog walk around and his 🎾🎾 got so big, he was in a true pain. So the vet put him on antibiotics plus sleeping pills? Limited movement, just to go out on a leashe for a bathroom breaks. 5 days later he was like new! And yes, Teddy will forgive you! I was feeling the same - my doggy is just like he was before the surgery :)
Poor guy! 😥 It's evident that he needs help with the pain. There are some different "cones of shame" made of fabric that come down far enough to protect him from chewing at the stitches. It's SO hard not to feel guilt when one of our family members hurts! As RESPONSIBLE adults, you and Shane are loving, discerning, and ready at a moment's notice to soothe him!!
Poor teddy, pray you heal soon and get back to yourself handsome boy💙.
Teddy will be okay, don't feel guilty. It's better for him in the long run, and you are being responsible AND protecting your furniture. You gotta do what you gotta do.
Aw, poor teddy. My heart can't handle crying doggos.
Awe poor Teddy. It’s sad he’ll never be a daddy, but it’s probably for the best. Praying he feels better soon. 🙏🏻
Poor sweet Teddy - hate to see him hurting 😥
He had an operation. I wouldn't call it a cone of shame. Feel better soon Teddy:) ❤
@@wendyplewa9205 Everybody refers to it as the “Cone of Shame.” It’s a colloquialism.
It’s just a saying! They don’t mean it in a literal sense!
Well, I just feel so bad for all of you. I've always wondered if animals "know." It looks like Teddy is very smart and "knows." Sending you all my love.
Poor Teddy Bear! He looked so miserable in the cone of shame. My heart was breaking for him. I’m glad he’s feeling much better.
Only the dreaded Cone of Shame can subdue Teddy's naughtiness 🤣🐕
Not funny🤨
@@ladyjustice1474Teddy's a big tough dog who's pampered 24/7, he'll be ok 🙄. Some of y'all are softer than a 12-pack of Charmin 🙄
@@ladyjustice1474Teddy is a big boy. He'll be fine. Lighten up.
😡😡😡
So glad to see him recovered and back to his playful self 💙
He will still be Teddy. ❤😘
Poor Teddy, get well soon big boy ❤
Teddy doesn't know what to think about that cone on his head he will get use to it Teddy is adorable and a good boy
My German Shepherd got neutered when older than Teddy, for gastro reasons. He didn't have to have the cone of shame during the day as my dad was retired and around to keep an eye on him. But at night, he had to have a cone of shame and stay in his crate (we called it a den, it was very comfy for Max) overnight so he didn't get at his stitches. It's only a few days, but they do look sad with the cone of shame
How old was Phil when he was neutered? Getting neutered is a lot harder on an adult dog than it is on a puppy. That’s probably why the vet sent you home with pain killers. He’s obviously in pain. Please medicate him!
Ahhh pleased don’t feel guilty, you are being a responsible pawrent, he’ll get over it!💕💕🐶🐶🇬🇧
Philly Bear always took his pain very well ! He was the BEST ! X miss him x ❤️🇬🇧
I know you had to do what needed to be done.
But the poor Teddy Bear - makes me want to crawl through the screen and give him some Love.
Hope he gets better soon!
🇺🇸😥🪷🕊💙❤️✝️🕉
Phil was a chill dog.. teddy is 4 but is a teen at heart
Poor Teddy he really looks sorry for himself hope he gets better soon.🐶❤
@@clarepartrick1066 is that your way of acknowledging he’s in pain?? That he feels sorry for himself?? Please! 🙄
@@cherylmcnutt9905erm… she did say poor teddy and hope he gets better soon so she is in fact acknowledging his pain!
@@cherylmcnutt9905 erm… She has acknowledged he’s in pain! she said “poor teddy and get better soon” isn’t that an acknowledgment of his pain?
Its not a cone of shame!! Its a cone of healing!!
@@annetteschmitz646 It’s a colloquialism dating back to the 1960s.
It’s just a SAYING!
Haven’t been in this channel in awhile, holy moly teddy got big.. Phil is in heaven, Amelia has grown up and I would imagine Amelia got a little brother now… very cool
Awh poor Teddy 😢❤. I'm glad he's recovered well and is back to his usual happy self ❤
8:16 cone of shame or not, he is still a good boy who enjoys cuddles.
PoorTeddy as hard it was to do this know that it had to be. IT is best for both of you ❤️ ❤
Now he’s gonna end up like Phil
Hang in there Teddy, my Siberian Husky Rocky had that as a pup and an ACL surgery 5 years ago. At 14.6 years old the ROCK is still going strong. Best breeds ever
Poor Teddy feel better soon. He is so adorable ❤❤❤
good on you guys for letting him reach maturity before doing it!
This was hard to watch! I don’t know how you got through it!! Bless your hearts 💞
I also heard you say that Phil was bigger than Teddy. I’ve always thought Teddy was the biggest 🤷♀️
Quick Recovery Teddy!
Hey, Teddy! Glad your surgery, immediate recovery and the terrible cone are in the rearview mirror, with life getting back to normal now. Em, sounds like you did what you had to do. Good plan going forward, with the rapid response to any weight gain. Thank goodness for ebikes and Teddy already being trained to them, eh? 💖
Armer kleiner Mann,
aber wenn du nicht "darfst", ist es für dich besser! Wünsche dir gute Besserung und schnelle Genesung!❤
That face at 3:40, poor Teddy, hopefully everything goes well soon, wishing you a speedy recovery...🧡🧡🧡
We are going through the same dilemma , it's a very tuff decision
And yes we would most likely keep all the pups
My thoughts are with Teddy and all of you.
You have made our decision a bit more easier. ❤❤❤
honestly, even the cone can’t hide teddy’s majesty and wholesomeness
Poor Teddy 😢, but I think he still looks adorable with the cone of shame… can’t wait to see a fully healed teddy once again
I'm sure Milo is secretly mocking Teddy and thinking the Cone of Shame is a punishment for his naughtiness 🤣🤣

Put an ice pack on the back end and ice cream in the front end. He will be right as rain in no time.

Teddy will be good soon enough, and so will you.
It’s all good as my husband and mom would say.
Teddy is very forgiving,it’s his nature!❤❤
I see you smiling now!! My mother and husband
we’re right!!
Wishing Big Sweet Teddy Bear a speedy recovery! ❤❤❤
Don't feel bad Emma, we've had to do this with all our male dogs. Our first male dog Mikey our beloved Shih Tzu had it done and Keith and I were on the fence with this decision but we were told Mikey would probably get cancer if not done. Adenocarcinoma .Mikey lived to 15yrs and had a very healthy life. Joan. Feel better Teddy, you will feel better in the long run.
Oh bless him . U done the right thing don't feel Guilty xx
He's such a sweet dog, I wanted to give him a hug xo
Patient as a saint you honestly are ❤
You and Shane are the best parents for your pets and kids! I'm glad Teddy is feeling better. 🙂❤️
My poor Teddy bless you soon ❤🐶👍🏾
Niko give Teddy a kiss for comfort and aww Nathan so adorable calling Amelia ❤️ sending hugs and love to teddy 🐾🐕🐶❤️❤️❤️
I would think the pain meds would knock him out for a while. My cocker had an operation and was limited in play. He decided the cone wasn't going yo stop him from playing ball. He would scoop the ball with the cone and then throw it back to me. We essentially rolled it back and forth on the bed. Also, his plastic cone was so big and he kept bumping into my shins. I had bruises.
Hope Teddy feels better soon. He'll be happy without the cone.
Teddy will go through this .I know its hard to see your pets go through this . I understand you Emma . We all love Teddy and the other animals .
Sending healing prayers for Teddy that he is feeling better each and every day 🙏💓Much love♥️♥️
💖💖💖😊☀️🤗Hello Malamute family, Oh no,not the cone of same. Teddy, it will be okay buddy. It is for the best. They need to come up with a better preventative in my opinion . I remember the guilt trip I felt when my fur baby had to wear the cone of shame. He was exactly like Teddy. I alternated a male dog brief to the cone. I don't no if that will help you Teddy's mom, but it worked like a charm during the day and the cone at night. I let it breathe when taking him potty with the cone on and change it back until bed time. I know it is a lot ,but it eased Nook's (my late sweet malamute)of anxiety and mine too. Them eyes of Teddy's🥹 are not happy, but he will forget all about it and give you lots of unconditional love when it finally comes off. Give him pup cups and give him something to occupy him with something he loves. Have you heard of Dream Bone? They are a healthy alternative to rawhide. They have bones that last for ever and keep your pup occupied. It may help. My Nook after awhile would give up on it and take a nap. Get Better soon Teddy. Teddy's mom occupy maybe yourself with something you love to do . I hope this will help you and your Teddy. Best wishes to you and your boy Teddy. Nathan is getting so big and talking more. 😊💖💖💖and 💖🤗. to you and your family.
Oh poor Teddy I hope he feels better soon
Poor guy. Hope you feel better soon Teddy❤
Don't feel guilty. You're doing what is best ❤
I remember when my Husky had the dreaded cone, after we got her fixed. Yeah, she didn’t enjoy it
Aww ❤ my dog too girl dogs take a little longer to heal than boy dogs and she was crashing around for about a week we had to replace the cone twice! 😂❤ she’s all good now tho!
why feel guilty? You did what you felt was right, hes a great dog, dont worry over it
Don’t feel guilty. It was time . ❤
🥹Poor Teddy, his pup berries are no more. He was definitely trying to take the cone of shame off. Sweet Teddy doesn't understand why his pup berries are missing and probably thinks he's being punished.
Poor Teddy Bear...yes he's in pain. However he will heal and forget all about it. Don't feel guilty! You did what you had to do! As Always Thanks For Sharing Your Beautiful Family❣️
You did the right thing
"I choose to think of it as my bark loudener." - Teddy
Poor sweet Teddy .......Totally understandable Emma Leigh......Teddy forgives you !!
Don’t feel guilty, you did the right thing. 😊
how is getting a male dog fixed for the better exactly lol??? He will get fatter now,,,have less energy and they wont have those amazing videos of teddy running miles and miles anymore cause getting a male dog fixed is never good for there health. Just saying, i mean its there choice of course but facts are facts. Getting absolute perfect mala like teddy fixed is not the right thing,,,literally makes no sense just saying. Teddy was such a rare one getting him fixed almost feels like a crime.
@@Killercoldice22will you please…
Years ago when I fixed my male pets, no issues. Snip, snip. No meds, no cones. Now, the vets perform the surgery differently and they NEED the pain meds and cone for days. Please keep the cone on like the vet says so Teddy will heal properly without any infections/complications.
Correction: the vet did give pain meds. My typo.
Poor Teddy
When our son had his black Labrador neutered , largely because though he was not aggressive , they were concerned he would retaliate if he was “attacked” , the vet gave him a bodysuit, available on Amazon , which meant the wound was protected and he had no cone . Excellent alternative . The dog was not given painkillers nor was he seemingly in any pain or whining .
He certainly wasn’t marking anywhere in the house when intact
Teddy i hope the days go fast for you .
The vet sent all my animals with pain meds, male and female , cats and dogs. It never seems to bother any of them, quite like it has this poor boy.
Speedy Recovery Teddy.❤️🐾
Oh Teddy! You will be fine. Poor Mom , I think she feels almost as bad as you do. :(. Once the cone is off all will be good.
😭 I had a rescue, and out of all of the dogs, I had neutered only one acting like this, and he did have some weird infection, it might be worth looking into🙏🏻🐾❤️
Get well soon Teddy, luv ya
Don’t feel guilty, it had to be done. Remember all those things you just mentioned when the guilt comes into your mind. The whining and spinning and the cone must be so stressful for you. ☹️
Bro, your videos are gold.
Is it possible for him to have a soft collar or a onesie surgery recovery suit? Ours have always done well with those and if they're more comfortable it's easier on the fur-parents. Of course he'll be fine regardless in a few days.
They did
Poor Teddy he has the cone of shame. We had a male and we did show and breed him. The funny thing is that after we Bred him we kept one puppy, one of his sons. Neither dog was a marker, but they left marks every where on walkies. Our Female that had been Bred and spayed marked everytime a male dog came into the house.
I feel so bad for Teddy, but it's for the best. Can you get him the round, pillow-like protective collar/cone?
They did
You did what was necessary for Teddy. to echo one of the other commenters, you are a responsible pet owner.
It's like the Handmaid's Tale
Poor Teddy. He is no longer a man! He was robbed!
Poor Ted. He hates it. ☹️
Hard to watch but better for him in the long run.
Aww poor teddy. Get well soon.
Oh Teddy You cannot wiz all over your house You will feel better soon Poor Mum
Aww sweet teddy. Poor little guy. He really doesn’t know what to do with himself. Xx❤
I have rescued a stray and he is having his op next week. Bit worried about the cone but he is a small dog thank goodness! Got to be done unfortunately. It will be fine. 🐕
He's clearly in a lot of pain. I would call the vet. Maybe they need to check to make sure all is well, and give him something stronger.
Ask the vet about CBD oil to help keep him calm. My dog used it when he was neutered and it did help. Teddy will be fine.
Poor Teddy 😢when we had our dog neutered he hated the cone it was ridiculous so the vet advised he wore a surgical vest which was brilliant he healed really quickly and it kept the wound really clean. Could Teddy wear one of those instead? Feel so sorry for him 😫😫😫
