You have to still add value to the team when you're not having the most effective game yourself, or you just become a defensive liability, particularly against better opposition. I think you may have just made something clear: arsenal have a team with backup in almost every position, they spread the goals around so there is no dependency on one goalscorer - but there is no replacement for Odegaard. Tell me what bruno fernandez actually delivers to any team in the world other than the long passes. Odegard is a workhorse he's a machine he presses for the whole 90min(with high intensity)and this season he gets the ball by getting back so deep , controls the game and he never cries wearing the captain badge. Ødegaard is a demon off the ball, and a genius on it. His work rate gets overlooked sometimes because of what he does on the ball. His press rate is relentless, and he triggers it every time, and Kai and the rest follow. And he gets back to shape quicker than anyone else, to organize the group, when we lose the ball, and start the press again. Oh man, his press engine is absolutely insane. KDB does it, but in phases, but City are extremely organized group and their press is mostly initiated by Rodri. Bruno does half press, looks around at his teammates, sees that no one cares, throws his arm up, and starts moaning. That's entirely not Bruno's fault, but United's system and disorganized team are also to blame.
I would call Ødegaard an 8/10 mix inside a 4-3.3 formation, basically operating on the right in a partnership with Saka and White. He can't be compared to the traditional 10'ns like Bergkamp or even De Bruyne with him in a 4-4-1-1 formation.

Oedegaard is miles better than Bruno. For one, Oedegaard always makes the right pass at the right time. I’ve seen Bruno hold on to the ball far too many times and miss a key run by Rashford or Garnacho. Secondly, Oedegaard is a physical beast and has elite fitness. He presses with full intensity for a full 90 minutes, week-in, week-out. He plays every game and rarely gets injured. Third, he’s extremely technically gifted on the ball and has insane vision. Lastly, he’s not a whining baby and always gives his all.
This is missing the point re Fernandes and Ødegaard. The key difference is when their respective teams don't have possession of the ball. Ødegaard has one of the strongest work ethics we've seen for a long time in this league. His team might be up 5-0 and it's the 85th minute, and Ødegaard won't be downing tools, but instead he's going through lead the press that will help his team regain the ball. That's the biggest difference between these two players: Work ethic. Another big difference would be ethics in general. When Arsenal isn't doing well or when an Arsenal player has made a mistake, Ødegaard won't drop his shoulders or gesticulate in anger or sulk. He's the first to provide positive encouragement to his teammates. He will put the burden on his shoulders and he will be the first to pull. Fernandes will sulk and point fingers and bitch and moan. These are why they're two different players. Arteta will not recruit a Fernandes.
Major difference is Odegaard presses high all the time boxing the opposition in, Bruno rather wait for an unforced error from the opposition to gain possession back.

Accurate take. People forgetting how important is to have a player who can dictate tempo of a game all by his own. Modric- Toni Kroos duo does the same thing for Madrid for ages. Arsenal plays different, they don't have a proper CF , they interchange position and control possession, attack through one touch passes. When opposition teams defending deep you can't expect Ødegaard spamming long balls to box , then end up gifting counter attacking opportunity. He has to play according to situation and team's requirement, also as captain he is more responsible and mature now.

I think you may have just made something clear: arsenal have a team with backup in almost every position, they spread the goals around so there is no dependency on one goalscorer - but there is no replacement for Odegaard. Tell me what bruno fernandez actually delivers to any team in the world other than the long passes. Odegard is a workhorse he's a machine he presses for the whole 90min(with high intensity)and this season he gets the ball by getting back so deep , controls the game and he never cries wearing the captain badge. Ødegaard is a demon off the ball, and a genius on it. His work rate gets overlooked sometimes because of what he does on the ball. His press rate is relentless, and he triggers it every time, and Kai and the rest follow. And he gets back to shape quicker than anyone else, to organize the group, when we lose the ball, and start the press again. Oh man, his press engine is absolutely insane. KDB does it, but in phases, but City are extremely organized group and their press is mostly initiated by Rodri. Bruno does half press, looks around at his teammates, sees that no one cares, throws his arm up, and starts moaning. That's entirely not Bruno's fault, but United's system and disorganized team are also to blame.
I would call Ødegaard an 8/10 mix inside a 4-3.3 formation, basically operating on the right in a partnership with Saka and White. He can't be compared to the traditional 10'ns like Bergkamp or even De Bruyne with him in a 4-4-1-1 formation.

Oedegaard is miles better than Bruno. For one, Oedegaard always makes the right pass at the right time. I’ve seen Bruno hold on to the ball far too many times and miss a key run by Rashford or Garnacho. Secondly, Oedegaard is a physical beast and has elite fitness. He presses with full intensity for a full 90 minutes, week-in, week-out. He plays every game and rarely gets injured. Third, he’s extremely technically gifted on the ball and has insane vision. Lastly, he’s not a whining baby and always gives his all.

This is missing the point re Fernandes and Ødegaard. The key difference is when their respective teams don't have possession of the ball.
Ødegaard has one of the strongest work ethics we've seen for a long time in this league. His team might be up 5-0 and it's the 85th minute, and Ødegaard won't be downing tools, but instead he's going through lead the press that will help his team regain the ball.
That's the biggest difference between these two players: Work ethic.
