This is a very beautiful and touching short feature. What strikes me the most is that I just watched a program made by a man who had managed to gather all the home movies his grand father in the late 40's, and... you can see the people in this French village doing the same things. There was the harvest, with all the straw gathered in enormous bundles, and then thrown in a horse drawn waggon . the sowing as well was done with a horse drawn plow. And the women worked, worked, watering, cleaning between the rows of vegetables , picking them , making preserves for the Winter. There was a blacksmith who mended tools, made new ones, the baker... in other words, it's incredible to see how fast people forget, but, up to the mid fifties, people in small towns in France still lived like that. Oh, not to forget the families. The people still lived in farms, with whole families - several generations - enjoyed living together, helping one another when necessary, and dancing on feast days ... of course, they all knew each other. Yes, this was the way people still lived in the coutry up to the late mid 20th Century...
Such a therapeutic movie for the depressed. We should think, well, I feel quite down, but there are people who felt and still feel worst than I. I love their movie so much. May this man who sang such beautiful songs RIP. 😢
right after high school, I played in a pit band for Fiddler. That clarinet part was a bitch, but it was a blast to play. I always tear up when I hear "Far From the Home I Love"
Thank you for remembering to include all of the three eldest daughters in this. 🙏
Some of my favorite parts are in here. ❤️💙❤️💙❤️
Thank you. 🙏
