A big THANK YOU to Brian and Active Melody for all you've taught me and thousands of others. Six hundred lessons, that's amazing, congratulations! Even more amazing is the depth and breadth of your material, delivered in such a friendly manner. You are indeed one of the nicest teachers on RUclips, thank you
Being a premium member I have learnt so much from you Brian. 4 years ago I was diagnosed with cancer. One of the things that has helped me through it are your lessons. You explain everything so clearly, and they sound great. It's definitely helped me take my mind off my health. I can't play as much anymore because of peripheral neuropathy in my hands. But I do still try. Anyway thanks again. 🙂
Brian, I have learned several dozen of your songs and more then 50% of my repertoire is thanks to your fantastic songs/lessons. As a math teacher, I find your teaching best among many great guitar teachers on youtube. Thanks so much for making me a far better player!
Thank you Brian, even though your material and content may change, we still have access to all those 600 lessons and the micro lessons you already have completed. I for one, as an Active Melody member, haven’t even scratched the surface in going through those. They are available to me anytime I want. I’ve thought that a big lesson every week, for me, was like drinking out of a fire hose - so much material every week. I couldn’t keep up and went at my own pace anyway. So thank you so much for making all that history available at anytime. Please, please continue with whatever you have planned. Thank you again …. Don H
You have done a tremendous job Brian! I'm 70 years old and I have been playing forever and I still look forward to your video's. I can't wait till the next 600. Thank you so much!
Brian, thank YOU for your down to earth explanations of music theory! I can't believe I've learned so much about music theory in just 2 years or so...without even trying! It has just "soaked in." It has benefited my playing, my improvising, learning new songs... In fact, I can't think of a way I haven't benefited from it. All because of your style of explaining things! And I've learned (& modified) many of your compositions. So, I have things to practice, and things to "build on." 👍👍👍
Thank you and a very Happy New Year!! Looking forward to more awesome good stuff next year!! Some lessons on rhythm breakdown and practices will be helpful!! Micro lessons are a big welcome and a very good idea !! The small concepts and light bulbs 👏👏👍👌
@ I’ll always just think of a random number and go to that lesson. No matter what, I get something out of it. Even in ones I’ve completed in depth before. If you’re ever in Boston let me know would love to jam and just have a beer or coffee. Thank you again friend, it’s been a long time learning and playing together and I’m very grateful for having found your lessons in their infancy and learning them along the way with you.
Brian I love you dude. I’ve been with you from the beginning and you have opened so many doors for me. Really man you’re responsible for me being a better player. Thank you my friend. I wish I could have coffee with you sometime and shoot the breeze. Mike Kane
Hi Brian, Since I discovered Active Melody I have learnt more from you than from anyone else...ever! Safe to say you remain the biggest influence in my musical journey. You have moved me from a rank amateur to a competent player. But, like many of us I suspect, I can't keep up with the huge output you produce and every lesson has value, so micro lessons are good for me. Alternatively if you released one a fortnight or even one each month, I still wouldn't be able to keep up your pace. You are phenomenal, there is no other way to put it. With 600 lessons there's still a back catalogue of 300 I could visit for the first time, many more I have done, learnt and half forgotten that would happily revisit. So take a break, recharge and come back refreshed. We love you very much.
Brian, thank you so much. Your lessons inspire me and your approach motivates me to learn and be a better player. I’m really looking forward to your new direction and I hope you have a well deserved week off. Thank you, thank you, thank you 🙏
I often have wondered how you keep doing it week after week. It is really an outstanding feat. This change sounds really good to me. Keep up the good work and thank you for your service. God bless you.. Angelo
Thank you Brian! Enjoy your week off! Thank you for all the gems over the years! Wow, 600 lessons and 15 years... that is quite an achievement.... and your content is very good, so just want to tell you that I really appreciate you and all you have done!! I like the Micro lessons and you could probably pull from some of the 600 videos that you have already made and make Micro lessons out of them! 😅🥰💖
Incredible achievement Brian. I’ve been a premium member for almost 5 years now and have made progress on the guitar that I would never have achieved had it not been for your lessons. You continue to inspire me to improve and I can’t thank you enough for it. Here’s to the next 600!
Thank you so much for your great lessons! Because of you I have become a much better guitar player and I enjoy everything I learn from you, Brian. I am totally ok with changing deep dive EPs and MicroLessons. There's so much content to digest on your site anyway. You are the best blues guitar teacher and you create such great music🎸🙏. Denise
Brian your lessons are amazing Im continually impressed by the original compositions the versatility in your playing is so broad. Thank you looking forward to the lessons to come.
You are without a doubt the best guitar teacher on the web. I've been playing music for 60 years and like Michelangelo said when he was 84, "I'm still learning."
You never disappoint, so whatever you put out as far as lessons - micro or macro - is always welcome. And as others have said, there is so much archived material, we're never at a loss for something to work on. While I wish I had found you 15 years ago, I'm happy to say I just passed 3 years as a premium member and I'm still blown away at the value that membership provides. Happy 2025, and thank you Brian!
Congratulations 🎊 on the 600 th looking forward to the next year. Good u take some times out working for myself in construction it's easy to over do it! So be kind to yourself take a bit more time out we will still all be here .
I truly appreciate all of your efforts toward making people better on guitar and will continue to renew my subscription to your site. It really helps my playing. Thank you.
Congratulations Brian!! 600 is quite the milestone. I can't even begin to tell you what a tremendous effect you have had on my playing. After putting the guitar down for almost 40 years, it was hard to know where to begin. Active Melody was the right choice! Thanks for everything you've done and in advance for everything to come. I'm looking forward to 2025.
Thanks Brian. I am sorry never gone so far as to be a member but you've always been there when I've had a look at what you've up to. Many thanks for all your hard and.... often personally inspirational work. Happy New Year. Brian G in UK.
Congratulations, Brian. Well deserved and thanks for all you’ve taught us and this great community you created here. Also, it’s rare and cool for someone over half a mil subs still respond to comments. You’ve always answered my questions on your guitars or other gear. Hope you have a wonderful 2025! 💪
Brian, Appreciation story - I have been a member since the low 200s. I knew how to play cowboy & barre chords (no pentatonics/scales) from my teens but quit playing for 30+ yrs. For the last 7yrs, I have used 90% of free time (~12+hrs wk) learning theory & fb/lead knowledge. Your teaching has been the LARGEST part of my journey and the biggest ROI yearly low cost $. TODAY - I can instantly understand 100% of your wkly theory and usually play your lessons within a couple hrs and that’s not easy at times…YOU taught me how FUN & interesting the guitar can be. Thank you, thank you & thank you! You are my guitar hero🎸
No, I'm not 74738 years old, and I have just been playing for 5 years, but I started to follow your channel this years, and became an AM member just this end of 2024. Not only I'm excited for all the content It's available to learn and improve my melodies, fret. fluency, improvisation, etc. But I need to appreciate your dedication, effort and hard work, as also your way to communicate, and how you help people without making a show of this, pure useful knowledge taught gently. Thanks and please please, don't stop doing what you do, you are actually helping vastly so much to lot of people. Thanks Brian!
Hey man.. I'm still playing some of your first lessons 10 + 15 years later, you are the first port of call I go to when I need to push myself forward or get out of that annoying guitar rut we often get stuck into. So also to you, a big thank you, I think I speak for many of us. Keep it coming and I'll keep supporting you for as long as my fingers will allow me. Peace!
Grazie infinite a te Brian! Non sai quante lampadine si sono accese in questi anni con le tue lezioni! Complimenti perché la tua didattica è anni luce avanti, sei in grado di aiutare l’allievo a creare quelle basi solide con cui iniziare a camminare da solo e provare a esprimere la propria musica. Tra l’altro sono iscritto al tuo sito da un anno e lo trovo una meraviglia… complimenti! Auguri dall’Italia. CIAOO
Thank you so much Brian. You have helped mold me into the player I am today. I started watching your videos when I first started playing in January 2019 which doesn't seem that long ago and I still have a few problems that I switched fingers to deal with. I have 2 Squiers classic vibes that I like but I've never played a good guitar so I don't know if that's part of it or not but I'm saving. I purposely started playing so I could play all the songs I grew up on. Right now I'm playing a lot of Al Green music and I couldn't have done it without you, thanks my friend, congratulations on 600 videos and compositions.
Your lessons are so informative and your library of past lessons could keep me busy for the rest of my life! Keep doing what you're doing but don't burn yourself out doing it. Love the idea of more micro lessons. Thanks for all you've taught me!
Thanks so much Brian! Love everything you put together. Have learned a ton. I think the idea of more micro lessons covering a specific topic, riff, idea, etc., is phenomenal. All the best!
That’s awesome Brian! I like both lesson versions. I’ve been playing for 50 years, primarily blues. Lesson topic ideas: double stops, thirds, 6ths, how to play with fewer errors, playing cleanly, suggested practice routine.
Thank you, Brian. I'm not one to interact much but I've followed you since you ran a basically free web site. I just love your micro-lessons so am way happy to hear that you'll be building on that concept. You have a life-time of longer lessons which are wonderful, but I'm old and the shorter focused micro-lessons really draw me in and are easier for me to remember and learn.
First, I’d like to add my thanks to all the others. Second, I think your plan to add more micro lessons into the mix is a good one. I mainly play covers at open mics, parties etc and incorporating these ideas into a song definitely adds interest. Third, I think I’ve learnt more, useable music theory from you than anywhere else, which was never my intention but immensely valuable nonetheless! Thanks again. Mick in the UK
Time flies when you’re having fun 🤩 can’t believe it’s already been 15 years. When I first found you I would go to McDonalds for WiFi and watch the video make notes and then go home and practice. Congratulations and thank you 🙏
Thank you Brian ,I knew virtually nothing about how to play the guitar until I found active melody,..I'm 74 now and do struggle a bit at times ,but you always seem to come up with something to keep me playing . Thank you.
No, I'm not 74738 years old, and I have just been playing for 5 years, but I started to follow your channel beginning of this year and became an AM member just this end of 2024. Not only I'm excited for all the content It's available to learn and dive deeper in my melodies, fret. fluency, improvisation, etc. which I'm already feeling the improvements. But I need to appreciate your dedication, effort and hard work, as also your way to communicate, and how you help people without making a show of this, pure useful knowledge taught gently. Thanks and please please, don't stop doing what you do, you are actually helping vastly so much to lots of people. Thanks Brian!
Brian; thank you for for all your lessons and for just Being There. I know I personally have benefitted from all your hard work. So many of us owe you so much. Continued success !
Back at ya Brian! Thanks for the consistency and structure. It's definitely what I need and you deliver that with style and professionalism. Thanks for making me a better musician. I look forward to every lesson.
Congratulations on reaching 600 lessons, Brian. I’ve been with you for over 10 years now, and Active Melody just keeps getting better and better. I hope you’ve enjoyed your week off, and I look forward to what is coming next.
Big fan of micro here. I took lessons from a brilliant guitarist once and always felt stupid after the lesson because there was so much info that I didn’t remember. Took me a while to realize that if I get ONE THING that I didn’t have before, its a win! All hail micro!
And to add an appreciation, I think your comittment of creating your own piece and lesson weekly, stablish an equal sense on me (or us, for those who feels represented). Where I feel like in an academy where I go weekly, and I would commit to also attend, study and dive into the content and lesson theory/logic behind. Congrats again Brian!
hey i just want to say thank you to you for teaching me, over past 3 years , im only 15 . You have made me learn atlest 1 compostiton every week , and i have improved so much because of you, thanks alot
A big thank you Brian for all you do for aspiring guitar players. I have been playing for over 50 years and finally became a member two months ago and it is the best thing I have ever done to help improve my skills and guitar theory. Whoever said you can't teach an old dog new tricks has never been exposed to your down to earth teaching skills!
Congratulations, Brian! Hands down the best guitar lessons on the internet. Micro or regular, just keep making the videos! At my skill level, I find I can follow most of your instructions, but it’s a lot for me to try to learn a whole song/solo. So the micro lessons are perfect for getting a new concept! Thanks for all you do.
Thanks, Brian! Looking forward to the new material. Just like I did the previous years. But take care of yourself! Don't let burnout catch you... You're by far the best guitar teacher on the internet. A member from Belgium since 2016 or so...
Thank you for your work, I have already learned a lot, you are a great teacher, the videos are very well done, and I find the tabs that you display in the video at the same time helpful. I think the idea with the micro-lessons is great, because as a hobby guitarist I often don't have time for long tutorials.
Thanks, Brian, I don't mind you having the odd week off, there are so many lessons to return and dip back into. Your channel is so great because it focuses on playing real music and not scale exercises. Having said that, I think it would be cool to get some introductions to say using secondary dominants to navigate the circle of fifths, and maybe some microlessons with a capo doing finger style blues or fifth fret ukulele inspired microlessons.
Thanks so much! I can personally say you have definitely helped me go from novice player to intermediate in a short time! So thanks again again. Happy New Year.
Hi Brian, congratulations! Being an Active Melody member for 6 yrs now ( I guess) I am always looking forward to what comes next. I am a big fan of your micro lessons so for me the new concept is a step in the right direction. A big „Thank you“ for all you do for us!
Thank you so much Brian. Not sure when I started following you, but it’s been at least a decade. Your content is just the best. You look healthier than ever. What have you been doing differently for health over the 600 episodes? Hoping to learn more from you than just guitar. 😊
I think more or all micro lessons is a great idea. I have learned and play 4/5 of your compositions note for note (which I love BTW), but I typically find 1 or 2 tidbits and the theory behind them most useful per lesson. Theory goes a long ways for me. If I can understand why some phrase sounds especially good, then I don't have to memorized it, I can reconstruct it if I should forget how it goes and then I will also fiddle with the phrase and find other combinations of notes that sound great. Because of this style of teaching, I have by far learned more from you than any other teacher. Thank you for all your hard work and dedication. PS: I've been playing guitar off/on since 1965 (embarrassed), but I've learned more from you in the last 4/5 years than all the previous years combined. 😯
Thank you Brain. I truly value and appreciate what you do. Hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas, new year. All the very best for 2025.......plymouth, uk.
Congrats on 600! I could spend the next ten years reviewing those videos and would continue to subscribe even if you only did micros! Happy New Year. Thanks for all you do.
Congratulations are in order for 600 lessons! I like the MicroLesson format so I’m looking forward to more of those. I also really enjoy the “in the style of” lessons. Thanks so much for all you do, I have probably learned more from you about playing guitar than anyone else.
I like Micro-Lessons most overall, so I support the change to perhaps include more of them. I enjoy the discrete focus on some point of theory and what you bring by way of perspicuous licks and phrases. You obviously work hard at what you do, Brian. You're a talented and relatable teacher. So thanks back.
Time to celebrate! Take your time, micro lessons are fine to me. Yesterday I was struggling to finish EP582 and I imagine how tough it can be to you to publish a lesson.
Brian We can’t thank you enough for all you have done to make our guitar journey amazing! Please continue to do what you do! Merry Christmas and happy holidays to you and the family.
Well deserved break, Brian. Thank you so much. I like the idea of mixing macros and micros and what you said makes sense. Also, we don't want you to burn out! BTW, you're losing weight too :-)
Thank you so much Brian, my guitar playing has improved a lot because of you. I wish you a Happy New Year, have a good week off, spend good time with your family and friends. 🎸

Brian, thanks so much for all you do for this community. You'll never know how many lives you've touched, including mine.
Thank you Brian ,I knew virtually nothing about how to play the guitar until I found active melody,..I'm 74 now and do struggle a bit at times ,but you always seem to come up with something to keep me playing . Thank you.
Thanks a lot for all your FREE LESSONS WITH DETAILS!
Congratulations and thank you for doing what you do.
You are a phenomenal teacher and video creator!
Brian; thank you for for all your lessons and for just Being There. I know I personally have benefitted from all your hard work. So many of us owe you so much. Continued success !
Awesome channel Brian. Have learned so much from you. Much appreciated. The gold standard in doing RUclips the right way.
Thank you from France where I follow your lessons with pleasure
Happy New Year
And to add an appreciation, I think your comittment of creating your own piece and lesson weekly, stablish an equal sense on me (or us, for those who feels represented). Where I feel like in an academy where I go weekly, and I would commit to also attend, study and dive into the content and lesson theory/logic behind. Congrats again Brian!
Thank you for all your hard work. Quite an accomplishment to be proud of and thanks for sharing it with everyone. Very grateful.
hey i just want to say thank you to you for teaching me, over past 3 years , im only 15 .
I always look forward to Friday afternoon to see what you have created. I always learn something. Keep up the great work.
Thanks, Brian! Looking forward to the new material. Just like I did the previous years. But take care of yourself! Don't let burnout catch you... You're by far the best guitar teacher on the internet. A member from Belgium since 2016 or so...
Thank you. I’ve learned a lot from you. You explain things very well.
Learned so much Brian! Great format and you have a super technique! Thx!
Thank you for all your work!! Thanks to you I picked up a guitar in my 40s. Cheers from Arizona 🍻
Microlessons is what brought me into the Active Melody fold. Love every single lesson you send from Scotland 🏴.
Mate, you do what suits you. Love your work! Micro and macro…
Thank you Brain. I truly value and appreciate what you do. Hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas, new year. All the very best for 2025.......plymouth, uk.
No idea you had so many lessons!! Congrats! I appreciate you!
Brian
We can’t thank you enough for all you have done to make our guitar journey amazing! Please continue to do what you do! Merry Christmas and happy holidays to you and the family.
Brian, have been with you for 3-4 years. I have learned so much….thank you for the music
Well deserved break, Brian. Thank you so much. I like the idea of mixing macros and micros and what you said makes sense. Also, we don't want you to burn out! BTW, you're losing weight too :-)
Thank you so much! I am so glad to be part of your guitar community. Brgds Eirik
Thank you so much Brian, my guitar playing has improved a lot because of you. I wish you a Happy New Year, have a good week off, spend good time with your family and friends. 🎸
I’ve learned a ton from watching and listening to you , I dig your channel and everything you do , keep it going Brian !!
I'll say it again, the best fundamental lessons on RUclips! The way I was taught 35 years ago.
