    Great video as always! So I’m still hesitant to get a business card but seeing how much I’m missing gets me into more dilemma. Will getting a business card mean that all expenses put on it are business expenses? I don’t really have a business but have a side gig once in a while. There are years when the income of that is zero. Do they have tax implications? Ie. do the card companies send forms to the IRS like banks does for interests gained?

    I think it would be better to get another Ink bonus rather than the Hyatt biz. Just apply for another Cash/Unlimited (75k might be 90k again soon) or the the preferred (100k).

    • @SpencerJohnsonOfficial

    Just got approved for the CitiBusiness AA card. My first Citi card with no relationship. Pulled my Equifax which was 795. Currently at 8/24 with my personal cards. Applied and denied for the personal version of the Platinum Select card last September. So I waited to apply for the business side.

    The American Airlines card looks like a pretty good one. I've been thinking about getting a business airline card since I don't have one yet and American miles seem more valuable than many other airline currencies

    • @SpencerJohnsonOfficial

    Hi Spencer! I’m at 5/24 also. Thinking about a business card that won’t affect my 5/24. Do you recommend other cards besides Citi premier business?

    • @SpencerJohnsonOfficial
      @SpencerJohnsonOfficial  7 месяцев назад

      Hey William! I would definitely look into some of Amex's business cards like the Amex Blue Business plus or one of their cobranded cards depending on your goals. With their business cards (and personal cards actually), you shouldn't get a hard pull if you already have Amex cards in your setup which is a pretty awesome perk!

    Wouldn’t recommend the AA card. They just pulled a toooon of flights out of Austin airport. Southwest still remains the dominant carrier there!

    • @SpencerJohnsonOfficial
      @SpencerJohnsonOfficial  7 месяцев назад

      That's good to know! A lot of my flights have AA options still, but I'll look into that more. I'd likely go with a SW card if 5/24 wasn't a thing.

    Great video Spencer! Always looking forward to your roadmaps. If the Hilton Business gets updated in the near future, that would be the card I'd recommend you get, kind of how you explained it - definitely much more helpful IMO than the the Hyatt cards. Hilton Gold is a great benefit to have! It will also put you in a great spot with one less inquiry when you eventually decide to pull the trigger on the Citi Premier card. I would probably apply for the Citi Premier before you start putting a bunch of hard pulls on your credit report with those other cards, except, of course, the Hilton Business, which is an Amex card, which is why it should go first - but we have to wait until it gets refreshed!! And don't get me started on WF since their new products have been delayed for many months as well!

      Thanks so much for the detailed answer man! What you listed here is really my ideal roadmap. I actually just had a ton of spend come up really quick and didn't apply for a new card in time, so I'll likely just sit on my hands for now in hopes that that the Hilton Business gets updated. It's definitely better to add less cards than more if I want that Premier bad enough! Thanks again for all the help brotha!

    It makes us have to work around. Also, Citi forcing us to go into gardening our credit cards 🤣.

    For 2024, 20k on 500 CFF with 5x gas and grocery bonus and CFU with double match bonus. - Give that CFF has Q1 grocery category, these stack to 9x on all grocery so gift cards to Amazon and home improvement stores everytime I go. With CFU I'm getting 6x on dining and just booked a flight through CTP for 10x. Take that Amex Gold + Platinum.

    Long term I have concerns If I get a hotel card with a 35000 night certificate if it will be something my wife and I will want to use. .a year ago I was thinking of the WOH for mgm and vegas. But then I was thinking of Marriot for the same reason and seem disappointed with both in this possible use. I may just get a mgm or ceasers credit card to inspire them to want to comp me rooms.

    Love these roadmap / spreadsheet style videos Spencer! The AAdvantage card is a great play, as AA miles are some of the most valuable out there. I'm trying to fly business class to Japan with my AA miles but argh the lack of award availability. Also, wanted to clarify if you'll still apply for the Citi Premier if the SUB at the time is still 60k points? I'm always torn with such decisions, like yes there might've been multiple past instances of an elevated SUB, but you can't know when or even if there will be another.

    • @SpencerJohnsonOfficial
      @SpencerJohnsonOfficial  7 месяцев назад +1

      That's awesome to hear man! They're some of my favorite to make for sure. I'm still undecided on the AA card just for inquiry purposes, so we'll see about that one. As for your redemption, that award availability can definitely be hard to find, so I feel you! For the Premier card, it's very possible I apply whether there's an elevated offer or not. It just kinda depends on how eager I am to keep the roadmap rolling. If there's nothing I want soon after, I'd have more reason to wait.

  • @chadpennycuff
    @chadpennycuff 7 месяцев назад

    Personally, I'd be looking at a USBAR card if I were that low on the 5/24 basis. I've had a Double Cash for years (before they converted it from cash to TY points), and I just can't get excited about Citi. I'm avoiding the $95 AF and complexity of a 4th ecosystem, but I don't create content on the cards. Citi experiential content would probably do better than USBAR content.

    • @SpencerJohnsonOfficial
      @SpencerJohnsonOfficial  7 месяцев назад

      I could definitely see that card being a part of my end game setup, but I'm not in a huge rush for it just yet. It's definitely worth considering though! The Premier is mainly an addition to get my Citi points out to transfer partners, but it'd likely get downgraded to another Custom Cash eventually.

    You guys think it’s a good idea to try and apply for the Bilt Mastercard and the CFU at the same time with 6 or 7 (I don’t remember) previous inquiries? My scores range from 730-749 across the 3 major bureaus.

    • @SpencerJohnsonOfficial
      @SpencerJohnsonOfficial  7 месяцев назад +1

      I can't say for sure if it's a good idea for you or not, but my one word of advice is to apply for the one you want more first, that way if you only get one, you get the one you really care about. Both of those are solid cards though!

    Great video! I had previously overlooked the citi AA cards. We live near a Delta hub and have preferred either Delta, bank points, or just buying cheap flights on Fronteir. However, I've started to realize the American Airlines points are actually really valuable. A 7500 point flight would be 12000 points through British Airways. So, I like that. I just got approved for the AAdvantage Platinum, so we'll see how it goes!

    • @SpencerJohnsonOfficial

    • @SpencerJohnsonOfficial
      @SpencerJohnsonOfficial  7 месяцев назад

  • @RickFarris

    I've read that it's important to have 3 business card companies reporting your business cards to business card credit reporting companies (D&B, etc). I have a Chase (well several) business card, and a BofA business card (Alaskan Airlines) and I'm considering the Citi business AA card. I don't really need 2 airline cards, but I *do* need to get reported on 3 business card companies. Am I thinking correctly? Is there a better way?

    • @SpencerJohnsonOfficial
      @SpencerJohnsonOfficial  7 месяцев назад

      If I'm being honest, I've never heard of that personally, but that doesn't mean it's not true. I worry less about the business reporting and only look to add cards that actually make sense for my setup, but everyone's goals are different.

    Looks like a good road map, Spencer! Those hotel and airline cards will definitely come in handy for you. My roadmap for this year will be mostly travel cards. I plan to get a Marriott card and I may try for the Hilton Surpass card this year because I would like to get the welcome offer on it in the event that I get an upgrade offer on my Hilton Honors card. Hopefully, you have good luck with getting approved with Citi! Citi keeps sending me offers on the Diamond Preferred card, the Rewards+ card, the American Airlines Mile-up card, and the Citi Premier card. The only reason I’m not applying for any of them is because of 5/24.
