I am in Okinawa where I will shortly reapply for my reciprocal license. I’m debating whether I should buy this puppy 🐶, It is selling for UNDER $400 domestically, but the radio would be fairly useless anywhere outside of Japan due to band allocations. Today, the radio is selling for $387USD. Worth it? I’m planning to stay here. Just got rehired on base to work in the Exchange. 73
Anyone have information on using External Speaker jacks A and B (I'm using the Yaesu recommend MLS-100 External speakers, which I've tried 2 different sets, same results)? The FTM-500D manual indicates Main band audio would output on External Speaker A, and Sub band audio would output on External Speaker B. On my radio with the December 2023 Firmware, both my Main audio and Sub audio output on External Speaker B. I only receive beeps from button presses on External Speaker A.

Another important bit, for me, was that it has the mic in the head OR the body. You have choices. The dual speaker just makes it all the more sweeter.

You can turn the GPS off in the APRS settings.

How is it fastened to the dash?
So this radio only stores 5 memory channels?
