"You Can't Always Get What You Want" is a song by the Rolling Stones released on their 1969 album Let It Bleed. Written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, it was named as the 100th greatest song of all time by Rolling Stone in its 2004 list of "500 Greatest Songs of All Time." In a 2003 interview, Mick Jagger said he had an "idea of having a choir, probably a gospel choir, on the track, but there wasn't one around at that point. Jack Nitzsche, or somebody, said that we could get the London Bach Choir and we said, 'That will be a laugh.'"
Scala performs this on a "De Laatste Show" - a late night talk show in Belgium similar to those in the United States. The singer is Patrick Riguelle, leader of the "De Laatste Showband." It's rare to see a live Scala performance in their "street" clothes. Enjoy!
-- Lyrics --
I saw her today at a reception
A glass of wine in her hand
I knew she would meet her connection
At her feet was her footloose man
You can't always get what you want
You can't always get what you want
You can't always get what you want
And if you try sometime you find
You get what you need
I saw her today at the reception
A glass of wine in her hand
I knew she was gonna meet her connection
At her feet was her footloose man
You can't always get what you want
You can't always get what you want
You can't always get what you want
And if you try sometime you find
You get what you need
And I went down to the demonstration
To get my fair share of abuse
Singing, "We're gonna vent our frustration
If we don't we're gonna blow a 50-amp fuse"
Sing it to me now...
You can't always get what you want
You can't always get what you want
You can't always get what you want
But if you try sometimes well you just might find
You get what you need
I went down to the Chelsea drugstore
To get your prescription filled
I was standing in line with Mr. Jimmy
And man, did he look pretty ill
We decided that we would have a soda
My favorite flavor, cherry red
I sung my song to Mr. Jimmy
Yeah, and he said one word to me, and that was "dead"
I said to him
You can't always get what you want, no
You can't always get what you want
You can't always get what you want
But if you try sometimes you just might find
You get what you need
I saw her today at the reception
In her glass was a bleeding man
She was practiced at the art of deception
Well I could tell by her blood-stained hands
You can't always get what you want, no
You can't always get what you want
You can't always get what you want
But if you try sometimes you just might find
You get what you need
You get what you need
You get what you need
You get what you need
You can't always get what you want, no
You can't always get what you want, no

I wish this song was entirely just the choir
Soccercrazyigboman same. I absolutely love that beginning with the choir.
I love the opening choir part the best!
They completely underused such a great choir
both great: the chorus and the band. a remarkable version
Beautiful❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉
I first heard this song, too, on House. I think it was the pilot episode when House was saying to Cuddy "To quote the philosopher Jagger" and then, later on, Cuddy responded back "I looked up that philosopher you mentioned and learned if you try real hard, you get what you need." Great collaboration. I will always think of House when I hear this song from now on. Oh, yeah, great song as well!
man - one of the theme songs of a generation, including my own misguided youth.
"I knew she was gonna meet her connection
At her feet was her footloose man
You can't always get what you want
But if you try sometimes, well, you might find
You get what you need "
Ans this is a killer version - thank you! great version..
This is perfect, just perfect.
Tremendo . Honor a los rolling stones
A fine performance of this Jagger/Richards classic!
I think House and Cuddy had the best explanation for this lines too XD
Beautiful❤❤❤❤😂😂😂😂😅😅😅😅😅
FINALLY a cover of You Can't Always Get What You Want that incorporates one of my favorite parts of the song: the choir part.
have you found a choir only part of it? Thats really all i care about
what can i say?
this is the real music
Thank you Mick, thank you Keith for this fabulous song !
I remember Californication's first episode when I hear this song!
extremely good cover, mick and co. would be proud.
Un chef d'oeuvre de JAGGER RICHARD
MAGNIFICO TAMBIÉN!!!! SALUDOS DESDE MEXICP
CALIFORNICATION!!!!!
Was Scala the back up for the stones for their cover in 21. During the last scene it begins on the steps of MIT and continues through the credits. Awesome song.
I need the album. Scala is awesome!
What an amazing cover! This is a great choir 🎼🎶👏
Love, love, love this!
Fantastic. Patrick's voice is stellar. Thanks for posting this! A classic song, with a good cover.
this is so beautiful, I heard it on Californication and I have to say it made me shiver. That's lame, I know but the original Rolling Stones version didn't do that to me. Thanks for posting this, it's great quality.
Hmm. I had that album and it wasn't on there.
Hank Moody Rocks hard!
America shall be made Great.
21!
I`ve just heard this song by `My name is Earl`´ ! Sweet!
Every. Goal. Matters.
Just heard this on Raising Hope!

hank is my hero !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
like the angels
the conductor is so entertaining.. i think i couldn't sing in this choir because i had to just start laughing all the time :D
but great song, great interpretation.. and great conductor :D
Californication you can't always get what you want
I like this song and I would like to a version on stage with a choir.
You can't always get what you want!! :)))))
Genial 5 *
très bonne version ! bien sur cela ne vaudra jamais le live de bruxelles en 1973 !
So long Moody
their conductor looks like just spot on to a younger Ian MacKaye.
Anyone here from House.Md?:)
Gilbronian Girls Choir accompany Graeme Le Tissier on a Pearsonian version of this song and it sounds very interesting. A Test Card/Ceefax version has a national choir singing the opening lines.
Better than the stones. These guys win. Alot.
This is absolutely beautiful..where can I find this song to download? Gives me chills. I'd love to see them live in concert : )
@esciN Yes I'm sure, the original song starts with a similar choir singing the exact same arrangment. You can probably find it on youtube somewhere.
House MD & Californication. Top series, and top BSO.
@BrittVonKruel The version you hear on californication is actually the original Stones version, and it does indeed make you shiver.
i can always get what i want..just try
omf californication song yes yesssssaa
Where can I get this song to down load..it's absolutely beautiful..gives me chills.
CHOIR CUTS YOU IN TWO
Wow! Who are you guys? This was awesome!
@BrittVonKruel The version on Californication that made you shiver is in fact the original by The Rolling Stones.
Californication :)
@BrittVonKruel I heard this song on that show too.
Californication!
I cant get all the scala girls
@jessemaes1990 are you sure? i also thought i heard this song the first time on californication (with exactly the same choir).
where can i find this song to down load..it's beautiful
@ritschmast0r yes. sometimes when he has a very angry look (he often looks angry^^) then he reminds me of voldemort^^
What's your opinion on a Pearsonian autistic boy guitarist performing a rendition of "You Can't Always Get What You Want" with help from a radio orchestra choir?
Excuse me, I missed it. What was House and Cuddy's explanation?
The song ends when the choir stops singing
Great cover! You might also wish to check out Medley - Battle of the Choirs Australia Semi Final with Tex Perkins.
Ок :(
I'm here because the new POTUS played this in his victory rally.
me too
ruclips.net/video/vW954nbcLe8/видео.html stones these guys need credit
Tom Riddle
They're good, but the Bach Choir singing at the beginning of the Rolling Stones version of the song is better.
What's your concept on an autistic boy doing a version of this song with help from an Eastern European music choir.
The conductor doesnt know what to do with his hands lol
Go TRUMP!!!
the Rolling Stones ( EMI ) vs Donald Trump
practiced at the art
C'mon dude the song is supposed to be fun not proper and like a concert
Sorry, I could have sworn it was. It's pretty all the same.
Ugh
Sorry not like a chorus concert
I understand why trump uses this song in his rallies now, he's such a lad, like he is actually a god, do people even realise this?
no they just folow
Stupid is as stupid does
what the fuck you trying to get really ??? your not really getting nothing from trump !!!
Ew
Sung way too pathetic, give me the original please. Rolling Stones Let it Bleed.
.... demonstraitiuun .... please !!!
