    That's beautiful! I've seen many of your videos and love them all.
    1st: You should have 20 times the subs.
    2nd: Great to see a young man into woodworking.
    3rd: If you can to that with the few tools you have, Can't wait to see what you do with an entire shop full like most guys on RUclips have.
    4th: Will someone PLEASE get this young man several sponsors/tools/shares/likes and subs!
    Keep up the great work and content. Keep this up and I have no doubt you'll be rewarded.

    I'll buy a set of plans when they're up. IMO the handle should pivot down so the grip lands on the edge of the upper compartment (out of the way) & at same time levers up the gear thereby pushing out the drawers. Lots of paste wax req'd.

    This is a well made and beautifully artistic piece of woodworking.I would say I would buy the plans, but my skills are nowhere near what this would require. I would say I would even buy one, but my top end would likely be insulting to a person who is able to achieve this level of magic. Congrats on this amazing piece and thank you for sharing your gift with us.

    Josh oh my goodness your work is fabulous. My husband started watching you last night and he was so taken with your work that now he is absolutely addicted to watching you. He is 47 years old and he has been a welder his whole life and he just retired from it about 3 years ago and he has been trying his hand at wood working. He has watched countless videos and has learned alot but none have helped him as much as you have. Most of the people he has watched while they have been master craftsmen has had a shop of what I call "the wish list shop". I have told him baby put that on the list and we will see about next Christmas...lol. You however are making these most beautiful and wonderful pieces of craftmanship with the same exact tools that he currently has and you have taught that old man some fabulous tip and techniques. Oh and by the way in you doing this you have added to my own wish list of honey I really want one of those so will you make that for me... So yeah thanks for that. But I just want you to know that you are a blessed young man and you have a great talent and even if you may not I think you are a master craftsman and boy your momma is a lucky woman.

      Thank you! I actually gave it to my dad so I guess it is up to him what he wants to put in it. He is an electrician and he asked me to make him a simple toolbox for his job stuff about a month ago. I got a little carried away and end up making this. He says it is too nice to beat up on a jobsite so he will probably just keep it on his desk to hold drafting/drawing stuff. I'll have to make a simpler one he can throw around some time soon.
      I'll probably make a small follow-up video to show the inner workings soon.

    • @rwind656
      @rwind656 2 года назад

      @@JoshWrightWoodworking that's a lovely gift!
      But he would really impress his customers and the others on any job site with that tool box!
      I guess someone might also walk off with it. It's a treasure!
      If you're making another one, I think he needs some secret compartments to keep
      small stuff from wandering off, but only he would know what those specific tools are.
      And maybe he would like some specialized holders for his other tools or jigs.
      Have you seen Patrick Sullivan's Instant Access Tool Center? I've been following him way before the "end grain glue myth"
      that has so interested everyone. I really like his approach to design.
      The tool center is for bench top use, and my son and I made one last year for my spouse's electronics
      lab work bench. Trying to keep little tools from getting buried. Our prototype seems to be working.
      But I've wondered if the concept could be adapted to a portable tool box. Have to keep the weight down.
      We didn't use any fancy wood -- instead made a prototype out of pine 2x4's and such, to try out the
      locations. I already know several design decisions that could be improved.
      We just use buckets with liners and pockets for most of our various sets of tools. Plumbing bucket. Painting bucket.
      Carpentry buckets. But the electrical is in an open tote and I've not stopped to think how well that is working.
      What I've noticed is lots of small extra components get dropped into the tote -- wire nuts, etc. -- and it becomes
      quite a mess. Your dad's work habits may differ.
      Have fun! :) Thanks for sharing your projects. Always interesting!

    If I'd build a second version of this, I'd probably swap the gears so that the handle pulls on the big gear, also I'd switch sides of the levers for the handle so it opens when you push down on it, that way you don't need the locks because the weight of the box will keep it closed when you carry it.
    Awesome first iteration though.

    This is absolutely astounding! One thing I think might have been slightly better (Backseat woodworking here) might be to have the handle raising actually close the drawers, that way you simply grab the handle and lift the box to close everything up.

    • @JoshWrightWoodworking
      @JoshWrightWoodworking  2 года назад

      Thank you! I agree, that would make alot more sense. That was actually my original plan but Unfortunately if it opened in the opposite direction, in the process of opening the 4 top drawers, the handle would block the bottom drawer. It is a great idea, I just could not get it to work with my design.

    • @anonymousaccordionist3326
      @anonymousaccordionist3326 2 года назад

      @@JoshWrightWoodworking Just a thought, and it's likely I am misunderstanding the mechanics of something here, what prevents you from mirroring the center handle so that it simply turns the gears the other direction? I am assuming you have considered this as you are nothing short of a genius to have designed this in the first place, but I am curious what I am misunderstanding here.
