Two decades ago, C# started out squarely in the camp of object-oriented programming languages. Ever since, though, there’s barely been a new version of the language that didn’t borrow concepts and features from functional programming.
Let's chart this journey together, using evolving live examples to see the impact on how you'd write your code, and explore how object-oriented and functional concepts can blend together in practice. No C# experience required!
Big shoutout to Mads for mentioning F# in such a positive light. Makes me so happy
Great talk! Paced nicely, relaxed, and delivered expertly.
F# PRAISED, ME HAPPY
Mads is an excellent speaker and this talk has been featured in the last issue of Tech Talks Weekly newsletter 🎉
Can't wait to see his "talk from yesterday"
yeah, im looking for that. know if it exists somewhere? he can't just casually drop unions on us like that!
@@ramtennae Haven't been able to find it :(
I think his talk is now also uploaded to this channel: ruclips.net/video/l44Y6lNmNZ0/видео.htmlsi=jxSl-9JsxeWmiCic spooky action at a distance mentioned around 33 minutes in
@@Gorgggg thanks yea, I watched it. Not exactly the detail I was hoping for, but still good to see unions in the works

59:50 Big sad that fsharp is so shunned
F# like union types and tail optimisation - come on Mads - still looking for these for over a decade.
Is the code laying around somewhwre in their/your git repo?
He always wear good stylish & unique shirts. 🎉❤
Interesting topic, but WAY too many ads
Waiting 40 minutes to hear F# mentioned was not that fair :)
29:22
C# started as a knee jerk reaction to Java
The only design choice I am going to criticize in the video is the selection of the shirt.
wtf is that accent?
mads is (i assume, with a name like that) danish, but it sounds like he's lived in usa for a long time, so he's picked up a bit of an accent from there
Yeah, it's a heavily americanized Danish accent; he's probably been in the US for over 20 years now. Compare with e.g. Mark Seemann for an "original" Danish accent; I think it's a fun one.
Now you try speaking Danish...
