  • Tokyo to Hiroshima by N700 shinkansen 'bullet train', showing the stations, trains and scenery, including Mount Fuji. For information on train travel in Japan see www.seat61.com/Japan
    We used a Japan Rail Pass, which aren't valid on the direct Nozomi trains, so we took Hikari services with one easy change at Shin-Osaka. The video shows both regular seats and 'Green Car' (1st class) seats.
    We continued from Hiroshima to Nagasaki by shinkansen and Limited Express Kamome, see the next video at • Hiroshima to Nagasaki ...

    The itinerary I planned for our 7-day Japan Rail Pass trip around Japan worked really well, taking in Tokyo, Hiroshima, Nagasaki, Himeji castle & Kyoto with a side trip to Nara - feel free to use it yourself! See it in pictures at www.seat61.com/bullet-train-across-japan.htm

      All trains in Japan are run this way. Peoples' attention is on the shinkansen but the 100 year-old trains run to the same kind of punctuality. The same levels of service, the same level of class. I love travelling on trains there, it's a pure delight.

      1500lego I was in the U.S.Navy, I did 3 Westpac cruises, I was in Yokosuka, very clean city, so are many Japanese cities. I bowed to people in Japan myself as a show of respect. In Japan is you give you seat up on a commuter train, bus to an elderly person and a pregnant woman you are given smiles and you are a hero in their eyes. I respect the Japanese culture. School students go to school on Saturday there. My shipmates & myself we went to the Yokosuka Shakey's pizza on a Saturday for all you can eat pizza, potatoes & all the soda you can drink, we sat with Japanese high school students and we all had a great time. The high school students were very respectful, very polite & we formed friendships with them.

    I'm glad U. S.and European intercity trains don't have 3+2 seating and small airplane windows. I also want a cafe car rather than a rolling food and beverage cart blocking the aisles. Japan has an excellent passenger rail system but cabins on high speed trains look cramped and claustrophobic. Thanks for the video which convinced me to travel first class in Japan.

    • @tanmay63
      @tanmay63 2 года назад +2

      3+2 seating is common across asia actually because of more passenger density due to higher populations, a cafe car would be great in longer distance trains which they do have but shorter distance trains often are designed to make full use of their rakes to cater to high demand of seats. That's why you'll find trains usually packed.
