I don’t watch AEW, but every Saturday the SmackDown episode has been a part of my routine! Wish it wasn’t changing. These two have the best chemistry out of them all!
I agree with Tempest on his rant about Roman. With the exception of IYO SKY (who doesn't have a match at the Royal Rumble), SmackDown has no full time champion. I've tried to defend and justify the Rhodes WM 39 loss, but seeing the way things have panned out it makes the decision so much worse. What is there to fight for on SmackDown? Roman is beyond part-time and has constant help from Jimmy and Solo, Logan is having his first US Title defence since winning at Crown Jewel, IYO only defends on non PLEs and both men and women's tag titles are on Raw. Now you factor in that The Rock is just gonna waltz his way into a title match, like come on now.
You got to think, that’s not a smart decision to combine two episodes of two different companies. I hope they succeed with the plan, but it sounds it’s going to be a mess
I'm sad that this is the last Saturday podcast with Sat and Tempest. I've used it to listen to while at work on Saturday mornings. Have loved their chemistry. Hope that they continue to be on other shows together in the future. On the Roman title reign; I've thought pretty much the same way since Mania last year. I said then, and feel the same way still, that there is a difference between long-term storytelling, and stories that never end. If the title reign ended at Mania with a Cody win and then branched off into the downward spiral of Roman, that would be long-term storytelling, but at this point this definitely falls into the latter category. It really does feel like when WCW tried to stretch out the NWO storyline instead of ending it at the logical conclusion point of Starrcade 97.
I'm sorry that they're switching the format. I've always enjoyed the chemistry between the two of you, and have agreed with a good amount of your opinions and commentary. I'll still support the Wrestletalk Podcast, but I'm curious... what's causing all this???
Damn, Tempest has been holding that in since last April, I bet. He's had enough, and I can't say I blame him. Its gotten kind of ridiculous. And it's crazy people are saying this man needs to hold the title until September to beat Hogan's reign.

The problem is they are trying to book Roman like 2007 Cena & 2011 Undertaker. They want him to be the Top attraction and the top champion. Which unfortunately you can’t do successfully if you want him to be a part time attraction to always pull out a decent story like Taker from 2010-2020 book him like that, if you want him to be top champion of the company do it. But they really need to stop trying to do both with Reigns. I like this character and Reigns performance in 60% of this run, but since April 2023 it has been atrocious. At least HHHs reign of terror had him on TV weekly and sometimes on both shows.

Having a combined Smackdown and Collision cast is a bad idea. You all could have tried changing it back to a live for ultrachats (unless Sat or Tempest cant do that for some reason) for the money, but i guess I'll suffer through having to wait until tuesday for news given i cant usually warch the podcast and listen on Spotify at work.

I truly agree with just about every word of that Roman rant. It won't happen overnight, and it won't be every time, but I can't remember the last time there was a decent/basic world title defense, as in not big 4 level, where you had a non-0% chance of a new champ. Less egregious, but we might be starting to get there with Rhea and Iyo as well. Long reigns are "prestigious," but they can also be boring.

Tempest hit it clean on his view on Smackdown. I literally come here every Sat-E-day just to listen to this podcast because I haven’t watched Smackdown religiously in like a year. I watch Raw every Monday. Raw has been way better in every aspect. Smackdown has been hit or miss.

Pete Dunne is back, yes! I love Aldis as as GM so far. WWE has botched Alba and Isla so much. They have not made one good decision with these two since their call up, not one. Beating Cena has done nothing for Solo so far.

His title reign need’s to have a the Rock title defence to add to his historic title reign. It started with fighting his cousin and needs to end like that. A better story has come to light in The Rock I’m sorry. I find it quite disrespectful that he mentioned that that’s not the title he wants as it has no history. I hope this show does well on Monday, considering that there are other podcasts covering Smackdown on Friday night and covering Collision on Saturday night and Sunday (Rampage just gets ZERO love). Speaking of Rampage, it's the best wrestling matches on Friday night. If you say no, you're lying to yourself and need therapy. Randy Orton vs Solo was a good match. Darby Allyn vs Jeff Hardy was an amazing, fantastic match. Or compare the LWO vs Legado match with the Penta vs Anthony Henry (a mid-card jobber). Sadly, the LWO are jobbers again, but Anthony Henry is a LEGIT jobber, and yet his match with Penta was 🔥! Anyhow, Smackdown was overall okay because of the excellent segments. Agree with podcast on all their observations.

Also, as far as long reigns, to quote Paul Heyman, were only in "the bottom of the third." We're still over a year from Roman passing Pedro Morales' 1027 day reign. "What? He's been champ for over 1200 days!" Yeah, *Universal* champ. The title that only had 14 separate reigns and the second longest reign Roman has already beaten twice over. As far as the WWE Championship, he only beat Brock for that 656 days ago.

I can very well see WWE booking a Triple Threat between Cody, Rock and Roman. Cody pins Rock for the championship and have his one-a-one rematch with Roman at Summerslam. It will be LAME but it's better than not to FINALLY end this reign at mania and not giving Cody Rhodes the moment we are all impatiently wanting for.

Wouldn’t it make more sense to merge the AEW collision and the AEW dynamite podcast together and leave this one on Saturday? I have zero desire to listen to anything AEW related not because I hate them but because I don’t have time to watch it, I would rather have smack down, which is arguably a bigger show have its own podcast.
Honestly…. Smackdown moving to Monday reviews since more ppv’s happen on Saturday now more than ever makes sense. Makes Saturday reviews with ppvs whenever the new live events wrestle talk does happen harder to do, and everyone wants collision reviews again, I respect it. I had enough of the reign in late 2021 mainly because it was the same promo as nauseam at that time and sure the Sami stuff leading up Mania 39 season was great but it was still nearly a year of nothing before that. I think there have been a few really good smackdowns but that's because damage control and not the blood line. Damage control in the build to war games was excellent and they kind of f***** it up at war games. But you know we're not gonna talk about that.

The bloodline storyline is stale. Not entirely Roman's fault, and doesn't mean his title reign needs to end... But we do need something new. Hopefully, the Rock puts an end to the Bloodline and we get something new.
It's a sad day. I hope whatever they put on in place of both Saturday's news and the smackdown review does well. But they have a high bar to pass. Sat and Tempest's news and review podcast has been my Saturday morning ritual since they came together. House of the black mask has been awesome. I loved the positivity, critiques, rants, and especially the humor. House of the black mask news and reviews have been the bright spot of my Saturdays. In my opinion Cody didn't win is a bad booking decision but if they wanted to do that they should give Cody the rematch a lot earlier like to summer slam . I would book it that the bloodline would cost Roman the title so I would do the bloodline fallout a lot earlier.

Tempest hit it clean on his view on Smackdown. I literally come here every Sat-E-day just to listen to this podcast because I haven’t watched Smackdown religiously in like a year. I watch Raw every Monday. Raw has been way better in every aspect. Smackdown has been hit or miss.

His title reign need’s to have a the Rock title defence to add to his historic title reign. It started with fighting his cousin and needs to end like that. All due respect, Cody’s story is not that important in comparison, I feel like he was promised things after fighting in that hell in a cell match injured against Seth. A better story has come to light in The Rock I’m sorry.
I think him fight Seth at WM and fighting for THAT title makes the most sense as that’s who he returned at mania and faced.NOW THAT FINISHING A STORY! I find it quite disrespectful that he mentioned that that’s not the title he wants as it has no history. Dude, that story suits you best, leave Roman’s title alone, you ain’t that guy to finish Roman’s story.

I hope this show does well on Monday, considering that there are other podcasts covering Smackdown on Friday night and covering Collision on Saturday night and Sunday (Rampage just gets ZERO love). Speaking of Rampage, it's the best wrestling matches on Friday night. If you say no, you're lying to yourself and need therapy. Randy Orton vs Solo was a good match. Darby Allyn vs Jeff Hardy was an amazing, fantastic match. Or compare the LWO vs Legado match with the Penta vs Anthony Henry (a mid-card jobber). Sadly, the LWO are jobbers again, but Anthony Henry is a LEGIT jobber, and yet his match with Penta was 🔥!
Anyhow, Smackdown was overall okay because of the excellent segments. Agree with podcast on all their observations.
Gonna miss the Saturday Smackdown podcast, but the Monday combo will make it better. Plus, if it works well, I'll be waiting for the TNA/ROH Friday podcast! Lol
Also, as far as long reigns, to quote Paul Heyman, were only in "the bottom of the third." We're still over a year from Roman passing Pedro Morales' 1027 day reign. "What? He's been champ for over 1200 days!" Yeah, *Universal* champ. The title that only had 14 separate reigns and the second longest reign Roman has already beaten twice over. As far as the WWE Championship, he only beat Brock for that 656 days ago.

I can very well see WWE booking a Triple Threat between Cody, Rock and Roman. Cody pins Rock for the championship and have his one-a-one rematch with Roman at Summerslam. It will be LAME but it's better than not to FINALLY end this reign at mania and not giving Cody Rhodes the moment we are all impatiently wanting for.

I am legit fed up and bored of seeing Roman as champion. He overstayed his welcome as champion. He should've lost it to Cody last year cause him winning again which for some reason allows him to defend it 4 times in a year is just lazy booking. The Reason Smackdown is going down hill is because it'll be moving back to USA Network so they care less about making it great on FOX. Also It's Ironic that Blade 3 was the one with Triple H right? The only GOOD smackdown review on a Saturday, gone. I don't know if I can be bothered to wait untill Monday for a SD review, as well as having to skip the Collision portion of the review to get to the SD chunk. Selfishly, I hope the new format doesn't work out so we revert to how it currently is...

Wouldn’t it make more sense to merge the AEW collision and the AEW dynamite podcast together and leave this one on Saturday? I have zero desire to listen to anything AEW related not because I hate them but because I don’t have time to watch it, I would rather have smack down, which is arguably a bigger show have its own podcast.
Honestly…. Smackdown moving to Monday reviews since more ppv’s happen on Saturday now more than ever makes sense.
Makes Saturday reviews with ppvs whenever the new live events wrestle talk does happen harder to do, and everyone wants collision reviews again, I respect it.

I had enough of the reign in late 2021 mainly because it was the same promo as nauseam at that time and sure the Sami stuff leading up Mania 39 season was great but it was still nearly a year of nothing before that. I do not get how anyone can defend the booking decision of Cody losing now because it shows they did it just to pad some stats.

I think there have been a few really good smackdowns but that's because damage control and not the blood line. Damage control in the build to war games was excellent and they kind of f***** it up at war games. But you know we're not gonna talk about that.

The bloodline storyline is stale. Not entirely Roman's fault, and doesn't mean his title reign needs to end... But we do need something new. Hopefully, the Rock puts an end to the Bloodline and we get something new.
It's a sad day. I hope whatever they put on in place of both Saturday's news and the smackdown review does well. But they have a high bar to pass. Sat and Tempest's news and review podcast has been my Saturday morning ritual since they came together.
House of the black mask has been awesome. I loved the positivity, critiques, rants, and especially the humor. House of the black mask news and reviews have been the bright spot of my Saturdays.

In my opinion Cody didn't win is a bad booking decision but if they wanted to do that they should give Cody the rematch a lot earlier like to summer slam . I would book it that the bloodline would cost Roman the title so I would do the bloodline fallout a lot earlier.
