In my hometown of Westminster, Colorado, Denver7 was the place to watch on TV, and was watching from Bender's Bar and Grill that's connected with the Ice Centre at the Westminster Promenade when all this was unfolding.
I was 32 when we won this one. As that clock hit zero and the players came pouring out on to the ice, I was instantly taken back 21 years to when Ray Bourque was mobbed after winning Game 7 of the '01 Cup Final, which at age 11 was just the coolest thing to watch. Hard to not get emotional!
I'm still watching all these videos. I'm so happy for so many guys. MacK has been a big favorite of mine for years. Rants and Lehky as a Finn. And ofcourse, I'm in total awe of Makar!

ALL 3 Stanley Cups my hometown town has won, I lived in Westminster. After the 2001 Stanley Cup over New Jersey, my parents moved me & my siblings to Longmont in December 2001, but was still at Standley Lake High School my Junior year, but was pulled out of Standley Lake and went to Skyline my senior year. And in my 20 years in Longmont, the Avalanche made it to the playoffs 10 times, only making it to the 2nd round 6 times, but never past the 2nd round. And then work 2 jobs to make my way back to Westminster and then the last day of 2021, New Year's Eve, I made my move back to Westminster when I landed my apartment about a couple miles from the Westminster Promenade. And was watching the Avs entire Stanley Cup run from the Bender's Bar and Grill that's connected with the Ice Centre at the Promenade. To see the Avs win the Stanley Cup again 21 years later, I thought to myself, this was why I left Longmont!
That last 10 seconds was so awesome by Makar, shuts down the guy at the Blue line and then hustles his ass off to go battle in the corner to drain the clock. Love to see it

Which WAS the official beer of the NHL (Now it's Bud Light/Budweiser), and to finish it off with a Pepsi. The official soft drink of both the Avalanche AND the entire NHL! The Jager shot i take is strictly - AND I MEAN STRICTLY!!!... for the Stanley Cup Playoffs if the Avs are in it! And I take the one shot of jäger for every win the Avs recorded in the playoffs until they won the Cup.
It would’ve been great to see Tampa Bay, an American State team be the first to win 3 Cups in a row as it would’ve made hockey a bit more popular in the states, but as a Colorado native, I’m happy we won after 20 years of being damn near the bottom. Such a great series from 2 great teams. Thank you Tampa Bay for making us work for it.

"what the lightening have accomplished in this salary cap era"????? How is it possible that the entire sports media has completely forgotten that the lightening won last year 13 million over the salary cap? That should have never been allowed as it gave them a massive advantage over the rest of the teams that made the playoffs. I'm glad Tampa lost, they actually had T-shirts made last year that said 13 million over the cap. How's that for giving the middle finger to the entire NHL?

When Jon Cooper was making such a big deal about the winning goal in game 4 occurring while there were too many men on the ice, he must have forgotten that in the final round last year, the lightening scored a goal with 7 men on the ice. Didn't seem to bother him then.....
