Be careful handling quikrete / dry sand! You don't want to inhale this stuff! Either scoop carefully or pour very slowly! This stuff will linger in your workout room, settling on surfaces and then become re-vaporized again as you workout, step heavily on the gym mat, strike the heavy bag, etc. and may be a health hazard when breathed in. If you don't want to sit there all day filling the base up carefully, you should do the filling outdoors, while wearing a mask, then find a way to get your 300+lbs base into your workout room. One thing you could try is to get a vacuum cleaner, turn it on and actively suck in the dust with it as it is created to minimize the pollution in your room as you do the pouring / scooping work.
I had to fill an outdoor umbrella base a few years back, and after doing the math, I found that filling it with pea gravel and then topping it off with automotive antifreeze was the way to make it as heavy as possible. I had to use antifreeze (rather than water) since it was for outside use. Automotive antifreeze is also a little denser than water, but not enough for it to matter. *Edit:* I recently filled a Century Wavemaster 2XL Pro, and this time, I actually used a postal scale to test whether pea gravel or sand was denser/heavier. The pea gravel was, although not by a great amount. Between tipping the base to add as much pea gravel as I could, and adding water/antifreeze afterward, my base is a full 400 pounds. "But why would you use antifreeze if the weight bag is indoors?" -- Because I may move one day and my stuff might be stuck in a moving truck for days in freezing weather.
Why haven’t we designed a stand yet that the top plate or side plate can be separated then base can be filled with sand bags unopened- weight plates or other options than sealed up that way if the unit needs to be moved it can be emptied easily and reused later?
I've got a sand filled base and its heavy. Perfect. But now we are moving house. The sand is not coming out easy because the opening is so small. so any tips? Please....
Hey guys! Noticed y’all said don’t use wet sand at first, but then suggested mixing water or even just using water. Will this develop a lot of mold/bacteria? Could we pour in a tub of vinegar to prevent gross things? Or will it hurt the plastic? I’m setting up a new base today thanks in advance to any help from any persons who know😁
Avoid wet sand because it's a nightmare to get it to go into the hole, it clumps together and jams the funnel every 2 seconds you'll end up spending hours filling, de-clogging, filling, de-clogging and so on, that's the primary reason why you don't want WET sand. I went through this filling an outdoor parasol base, never again. Dry sand or pool filter sand only for me. Worth noting that the same applies in reverse, if you intend to ever empty the base, DRY sand is best, adding watter will make it IMPOSSIBLE to ever empty.
Buy the fairtex HB14 Free standing punching bag. You dont have to deal With sand of water and it is as stable as fight camp bag. Sorry fight camp. Your videos are really good fight camp. I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS ❤️ Thank you 😊
Here I'm thinking, oh yeah, i can do this in the kitchen by the table and then drag it to the gym room.... and then you say: Sand Only = 350LB... now, I'm like... so just water then? Yeah ok.
Guys fille this thing only with sand if u never eve want to move again. But if u gonna move it somewhere else... only fille it with water. Believe me i had xxl wavemaster ober 10 years. Sand is unnecesarry.
Fill it up with water and put it against the wall so it doesn’t move around. I don’t have the fight camp bag because it’s too expensive. I have a wavemaster. Buy smart and train smart.
i reccoment rolling it if your moving it slightly, but if your moving it to a different area, come get a friend over. because you might not have friends, try finding a neighbor, or pay someone to help move it
FightCamp Tram - HELP! We filled our FightCamp base with the max. recommended 350 pounds of dry sand, but the bag base STILL tilts/bounces and walks off the mat a bit during a workout. If the base is filled with sand how much water can I add? Do I need to treat the water with bleach or anything to stop any mold, mildew, etc. from growing in the base? Any other tricks you would recommend to keep the base from wobbling, bouncing and walking off the mat during a workout????
Hi Sean! We definitely recommend getting the bag ring, if you don't have one already - joinfightcamp.com/shop/equipment/. Adding water to your sand is another great solution. You can add a much as you'd like, we recommend starting with a small amount and filling it more until you have the weight you're looking for. How you treat the water is up to you but clean hose water is commonly used. Let's get that bag locked down!!!!
dang dude you spent over a thousand dollars for a bag, followed these instructions yet dude responded by telling you to drop over another $100 for that bag.smh. how is it working out for you? thanks
Uum I’m small and moved the entire bag off the base! And yessss it is properly set up and filled to the top of the base with only water. Guess I just moved 250lbs!!!
Anyone have advice on how I can make this bag work for a tall person. I'm 6'5" and want to raise the bag up by about 5". Could I put it on something like stacked flooring squares for example?
Can i just use Dry Sand without putting water after. i dont like the mess of having water in the base due to possible mildew or smell after awhile? Will just Dry Sand do the job? Thanks
Man i just bought 200 lbs of play sand for a freestanding punching bag i purchased.. now im pissed that I saw this video.. I didnt know dry sand was an option...
Amazes me that they couldn’t just design an easier way to fill that base. No home improvement stores near me sell dry sand. Just play sand. 0/10 for the design of the base 👎

Magic!!! I wish I had this video when I filled my base 😭😭😭
Emery mesh sand, used for filling pin cushions 👍 230 Density.
Regular Sand is only 104-130.

What’s wrong with a lung full of quickrete
So play sand would be best?

Antifreeze is very smart. Thanks for the idea. 😎👌🏿
@@Gangstar41145 Yeah really smart to have that when it cracks one day and spills all over the place lol
I FREAKIN LOVE YOU GUYS!!! DAMN THING BEEN SITTING FOR A WEEK.
AYY WE LOVE YOUUU
You guys are hilarious. Love the camp. Millenials rule!
the best team! all our videos should be with these studs!
Agreed!!! hehe
This did not need to be so entertaining, but it was.
I did water but then added jelly beads so if there is a failure no leaks. :)

God help you if all the sand at the hardware store is damp. Fucking nightmare. I'm never filling one of these again in my life.

Did you find a solution?
Gonna have to need help to take it outside i guess

clever technique
Anyone use base gel? Does it work ok? I really don’t want to buy and fill this thing with 350 lbs of sand. Thanks
My fave part in this video is when you guys call each other baby

I was wondering the same thing
You ask strong men to handle it!(shhh let them think that!😉)
Get a dolly just in a case and someone to help.
Sharp sand works well. In uk
Sharp sand? I’m in the U.K. too Is that the same as dry sand? I accidentally got kids play area sand which is ‘wet’, it’s a nightmare lol
Thanks guys

Need some answers
Course u can use water, just sand is heavier and holds down the base better
Can you show us the best way to remove the sand? I’m moving my base my new home and could some advice! :)
Get a shop vac
Literally have the same problem right now. Did you find a solution?
@@DeanithForeverYoung Yes! I bought a shop vac and sucked out the sand. I filled a few buckets and transported it easily to my new place.
Hey which kind of matt is under the base?
I did 200lbs of dry sand and for now, it’s more than enough - I could barely move the base at 200lbs.
Add video using gel
I can't find this sand at home depot and don't want to buy the wrong one. Can anyone drop a link to dry sand sold on amazon you would recommend?
Just buy some fucking sand
Same here. I'm on Amazon now to find another dry sand brand.
