Been in and out of Spain for the last 40 years lived there for 6 years won’t ever be coming again as long as these rules exist looking to further afield out of Europe their loss not mine
Hi Wonder if that applies to the likes of us,who have holiday homes here as non resident who have family and friends who stay over?? Bit off putting I guess
It will negatively impact on tourism (perhaps that’s what is wanted, who knows), but my bet is that the decree will be withdrawn within a few months if it does appear to be having negative economic impact. Is it an infringement of civil liberty? That’s debatable. I guess one could argue that a country is entitled to impose whatever rules that it likes to aid government control. The amount of, and the detailed nature of the information, appears excessive. It’s important to remember that they’re not singling out the UK or discriminating against us - the rules will apply to anyone staying in the country (not clear if it also applies to other EU member state’s citizens, I’m assuming not). It would certainly put me off travelling there. What appears to be happening here (and in some other countries too) is a gradual rowing back of personal freedoms and freedom of movement towards ‘authoritarian’ type control. The World is a dangerous place right now, and in many areas on a pseudo wartime footing. It is inevitable that impacts on personal freedoms and increases government controls.
@@bradcobb3418 It comes from the decreto 633/2021, which is a Spanish law and only applies to Spain. It has now been delayed until December, but there is bound to be more lobbying from all concerned.
What's the fuss about? This is standard information that you hand over when booking into a hotel in many countries, especially the States. Why do the British feel that this shouldn't apply to them?
Reading some of these comments people really need to calm down … 99% of the list of details are already known by the Spanish government because it’s all linked to your passport… the only thing that’s not is your bank account details… so use your heads and just take a pre paid currency card simple
I wonder if they have all those details for the north african and syrian squatters in cerezo, agustina, san Pablo etc. in Zaragoza. The ones that openly deal drugs.

I don't think the airport will be much different. The electronic scanners are already in use and seem to work well. Next year we will have ETIAS (no date fixed yet), but that is all done before you get to the airport, so that shouldn't be a problem. This new law about collecting data could be an issue, if it comes into force. It has now been delay to December. We'll have to wait and see, but most of that data could be collected before you travel.
@@SteveandAnitainMallorca the airport scanners will be like when u go to the states they take forever 3 hours sometimes to get through depending on volume of ppl .. those machines are not great fingerprints and photos will cause loads of queuing for brits ,, they will just stop going I lived on the island for 7 years I’ve still got loads of friends out there they are all worried about how this will affect ppls decision to come to the island
@@RickyAllen-j8u The scanners are already in use in Mallorca and cause few delays. The finger print will be introduced in November, when it is quieter, so shouldn't be too much of a problem. The problem is about the amount and security of the data that is being collected. It sounds a little uneasy to hear of a government taking control of its citizens.

Havent they realised you are now classified as third world. But you cant do that to us we are English and we are privliged.
Everyone is being monitored at some level.. this has been going on for years.
Indeed
They know all this already. My guess is it's another level of inconvenience to convince folk to beg for/ adapt digital ID, for safety and convenience.
They have some of this, they will be asking for a lot more personal data.
glad i live hear, i dont think id bother.
We often say how lucky we are to live in Mallorca.
Have they not exstened it now untill December 2nd but they will be asking for your full phone number credit and bank card details full name date of birth how load of personal info that you would not normal have to give any one and they are saying it's to help with terrorism
Yes, it is delayed until December.
@@SteveandAnitainMallorca thank god for that I'm flying on Monday untill the 1st going ro playa del ingles definitely won't be booking Spain again as won't be comfortable giving personal info like that lol
@@theforbiddenexplorerswitha2796 We'll have to see what happens in December.
Spain has a rite to defend itself.
Agreed.
Right
A good reason to change your holiday destinations. There is plenty of places to visit.
It has been delayed until December.
Thanks for this Steve. So this sounds to be in addition to ETIAS? This is a lot more than marketing data. Hmmm…
This is completely separate to ETIAS and is only in Spain, as far as I know.
Do they really want tourists?
nope
No
@BobelSilencioso-g2icorrect
It makes you wonder.
Switzerland is a far nicer country to visit and these EU regulations obviously have no effect.
No limit on how much money you can spend on items. No anti tourist protests and its very clean and friendly
This isn't and EU law, it's a Spanish law. Switzerland is part of the Schengen area so they will be part of the the EES in November and the ETIAS next year. There seems to be no escape! www.euronews.com/travel/2024/05/24/overcrowded-swiss-village-considers-venice-style-entry-fee-for-visitors-who-arrive-by-car
Then I won't be affected I'm quite happy in the UK as a farmer I'll simply stay here.
I have great sympathy for you though
@@stephenholmes1036 Thank you.
If Spain wants tourists this is a major deterrent...people will just go somewhere else..
I'm sure that some will go elsewhere.

one word ... sovereignty ... second word security ....
Interesting that Brexit was all about sovereignty. Spain seems to have sovereignty within the EU.
Enough said I won’t be going back to Spain. There’s plenty of places to go
Sounds like the protestors are getting their way.
Well if we hand over this stuff our banks should protect us against fraud if this is a law. We were asked for credit details in a hotel in portals nous in april , we had no trouble. Its all invasion of privacy and a ploy to stop us going to spain on holiday, maybe to cut tbe number of tourists, i dont know. But nothing will stop me from coming to majorca we love it here.
We are here now for 10 days its a great place to visit❤.❤❤❤
Hope you had a lovely time.
Been in and out of Spain for the last 40 years lived there for 6 years won’t ever be coming again as long as these rules exist looking to further afield out of Europe their loss not mine
We shall miss you sorely, when spain sets yet another record for visitor numbers next year ❤
The rules have not been implemented yet, postponed until December.
Hi
Wonder if that applies to the likes of us,who have holiday homes here as non resident who have family and friends who stay over??
Bit off putting I guess
No, only people who charge and are registered for tourist stays (B&Bs, Hotels, Camps, etc).
Looks like the Spanish tourist industry is going to take a big hit.
We will see.
the Spanish economy is doing very well “ possibly the most growth than anywhere in Europe .
Mallorca does seem to be doing well, for the most part.
It applies to all, but it has now been delayed until December.
pretty sure it is Eu law for all our 27 countries.😊
@@bradcobb3418 It comes from the decreto 633/2021, which is a Spanish law and only applies to Spain. It has now been delayed until December, but there is bound to be more lobbying from all concerned.
Great article Steve, very informative but nothing they don’t or can’t do ate home, at least the Spanish are being upfront about it.
Thank you
What's the fuss about? This is standard information that you hand over when booking into a hotel in many countries, especially the States. Why do the British feel that this shouldn't apply to them?
Coz “special”😂
It is more the fact that the information is then going to be shared.
been thinking about returning to Majorca, that will no longer be the case.
Mallorca is still a great place to visit.
Thats going to take a lot of civil servants to process the information. What happens if the system gets hacked?.
I think it will be an automated system that the police can search as, and when they need to for an investigation.
Reading some of these comments people really need to calm down … 99% of the list of details are already known by the Spanish government because it’s all linked to your passport… the only thing that’s not is your bank account details… so use your heads and just take a pre paid currency card simple
That seems to be one solution.
Good idea!
O spit it out!
Trying my best!!!
@@SteveandAnitainMallorca Don't worry, I was being impatient and humorous at the same time!
Wonder if my Monzo card details would suffice for their purposes?
If you are a Briton, you would need a passport to enter any Schengen country.
We will have to wait and see.
I wonder if they have all those details for the north african and syrian squatters in cerezo, agustina, san Pablo etc. in Zaragoza. The ones that openly deal drugs.
I wonder
The only additionally new data is dte of birth. You are already giving up all the rest
Your date of birth is on your passport/ID
What if you refuse and what about the right to be forgotten in GDPR?
GDPR could be an issue. There may be a breach in EU law, particularly for minors. The implementation has been delayed until December, but once implemented if you refuse to give your data then no keys!!!

Pretty straightforward problem-reaction-solution ploy, text book. Problem- burdened by having to give and collect this data, reaction- must be an easier way to do this, solution-digital ID. The solution is already prepared but how to get people to accept this infringement of privacy?
A valid point.
I won't be giving my bank details out. Most info's on your passport which they look at anyway.
They get your bank/card details when you pay I guess.
Not good but every time we post, so much information is taken about us. Not just physical things like where you live and age ( which many people here share ), it also shares your personal, political and psycholgical data! This can be collated to build up even more knowledge about us. "If you haven't paid for the product, YOU are the product " 😮
Very true.

Too many Brits in Spain.
I'd rather holiday away from them....
It's hard not to be a number in the modern world!
Watch tourism plummet like a stone . But isn't that just whay they want?
Maybe they will have achieved their aim.
Been coming to Mallorca for 30 years but this year was the last and that goes for most of the ppl I know who go ,, the airport will be a absolute nitemare next year with crazy ques to get out the airport.. and then when u get to your hotel will be the same nothing but ques as there is no automatic way of doing it ,, when you arrive at your hotel they want your passport credit card details phone number email address, and photo ,, it’s a joke it will ruin tourism on the island ,, oh well there of lots of other places that will gladly take my money without the hassle
It could be a problem.
So Spain thinks it can just override all international agreements on the use amd validity of Passports.

Just control.
My family have a home in Spain and we could stay for free ,does thi stii apply?

A simple fix.. Dont go to Spain.
Well said
And some will do that.
Well Spain is now off my bucket list along with Great Britain.
It is still a great place to visit and live.
Spain is taking back control. You’ve a problem with that?
Well said
The problem is about the amount and security of the data that is being collected. It sounds a little uneasy to hear of a government taking control of its citizens.
Isn’t it a case of if you’ve got nothing to hide, you’ve got nothing to worry about? I’ve just visited a dentist in Spain & I had to provide a good deal of this same information before I got any treatment
It's got nothing to do with that at all, the more people that have your private details such as bank details, D.O.B, name, address the more chance of these details being leaked or hacked.
I would like to think so. The thing that bothers me is the amount of personal data that is being shared and the security of that data.
That would be my concern.
Thanks for the info, I will not be going to Spain or any other country that requires this data. They have your home address and you are in Spain, you get home to find you have been burgled and you bank account has been emptied 😂
That's a thought.
Work of the elites, control.
This is identity data gathering to facilitate Digital Identity, just add biometrics (which big tech hold) and voila!
The biometrics will be collected on entry to the Schengen area from November.

When I bought my 2nd house I had to send proof were I had got the money from, but on the flip side the TIE ID card is brilliant use it everywhere esp the bank at least they know its me 😃
I like having an ID card.
Nothing to do with mass immigration then?
Not this particular law
They also want to know weather you can afford your holiday and weather you are not going to be overspending! This means they have access to look at your bankdata. This is just disgustingly implementing their agenda. All this with the excuse `security`and `terrorism`.... but the borders keep on to be widely open....This is how they will make people avoid travelling, bit by bit we are driven into staying at home, close to our homes (15 minute cities will come to live more rapidly than we think). I read yesterday that this rule has been postponed for the 3rd time... but for how long?
It is being delayed to December... for the moment.
