Du kannst wirklich sehr stolz sein, einen Supra mit dem BMW Doppelkupplungsgetriebe in der perfekten schwarzen Farbe und einen R34 Skyline mit einem sequenziellen Getriebe in der perfekten grauen Farbe zu besitzen. Du hast den Traum 99,9% aller Männer und Jungs verwirklicht und das gönne ich dir vom Herzen. ❤
I thought he said ZF8 at first but then he went in the dyno and said dual clutch 7… but the zf is the cheaper option and imo a way better gearbox to drive too, can handle massive power. Torque converter on zf8, dct is basically a manual but controlled by computer. So which one is it😂
@AI-Records24 It's the dual clutch trans from the F80 M3. So a high performance transmission that can hold easily 900 Nm and with strengthened little parts up to 1400 Nm even. So a really good trans like the 8HPs.
@ but why he first say we’ve 8HP swapped it, the guy didn’t correct him but then goes to the dyno and says dual clutch 7.. the dct isn’t cheap either whereas zf8 is, and is a much better option imo. He used the gear selector from an f80, sure, but the trans remains to be seen on the autobahn really see if we hit 8th or just 7thx

I think it's the DCT, not 8HP.
He said 8HP but also that it's from an F80. And the Knob is from a DCT too.

11:10 Actually the ZF 8HP has a hydraulic converter with 8 gears, its not dual clutch.
It just shifts really fast for what it is and is in general a modern automatic gearbox, with a electronic torque converter lockup. And theres also some trickery you can do with the 5 clutches to make it feel like a dual clutch setup, so best of both worlds. And its nice that it can be adapted to other cars rather easy these days :)
The 2JZ with this sounds really great, something the BMW straight 6 cant quite replicate :)
Its need some fine tuning, the pops and flames are nice but it bangs in the cars so hard it looses traction, not great on a 1000HP RWD car. Also the suspension needs to support that.
all of this is true, however, I thing he made a mistake when showing the transmission the first time, this should be a 7-speed dual-clutch from M3 F80, not a zf8hp, judging by the shifter in the car.

Why use a DCT shifter for an 8HP? And he described it as an F8X Trans which was the DCT, but maybe he meant just the shifter 😂
Me too!!! I’ve been very confused but surely the guy would have corrected him first time when he said 8hp meaning zf8, if it was a dct7. ZF8 are wayyyy cheaper too, and much better imo to drive. I love the zf8, I don’t much care for the dct/dsg7 boxes at all.
You can use any shifter with aftermarket TCU. Even dodge shifter if TCU supports it. Transmission type doesn’t matter, input from shifter goes to the TCU.
DCT shifter just looks better than normal 8hp shifter.
While there are a few 8HP converted Supra's out there, I think this is the first one that still retains a clutch pedal, and thats awesome! I still have the stock 4spd in my Supra but I've got a 5 speed R154 for it. Maybe one day I'd consider going 8HP as well!

If in future you have problems with the engine, bring it to Finland. Kalle Rovanperä’s drift Supra (new body) has very high revving 2JZ that seems to be absolutely bullet proof. That was ”Tuned by Samuli”. But this looks very good. And good choice of gearbox. Car sounds great too. I like all glossy black. Maybe the exhaust needs to be also ceramic coated black?

Had a JZA80 turbo automatic supra some years back, one cool thing about their stock auto / throttle body is they would actually electronically (had cable as well as electric motor in throttle body) close the throttle for a brief moment while shifting allowing the BOV to go off when foot is flat in an automatic, and making the shift much faster and more crisp.
Not really sure why they did it other than maybe stopping massive torque spikes and speeding the shifts up a bit
I agree on the side profile, such a good looking car! Happy for you, what a car! New transmissions make old cars way more enjoyable and easy to live with, great upgrade!

There are a bunch of mk4’s with dsg and zf 8 speed swaps in them here in the USA. That trans swap is becoming commonplace here now in the max effort builds.

ZF8 is bulletproof, don’t the Hellcat have it too?
I think this is the DCT 7 hence the clutch. Normally it doesn’t behave like a automatic gearbox, like for instance it won’t ”creep”. But it’s very programmable and you can make it creep if you want with xHP..and preferably from second gear.
I have the same features in my F82 and F83.
@@josefinkjellsson7051DCT will creep, u give a small blip on the throttle and it will creep just like any other automatic

Still not clear to me if they put an 8hp or a DCT in the thing. Shifter seems from DCT, both are mentioned and it's typically the DCT that breaks drivetrains due to very brutal shifting which is why many DCT guys go to 8hp, at least when drift cars are concerned. Either way, very cool setup.

Sick build let’s hope this one lasts! I’ve saw a few with the e92 DSG box there’s a few in the UK and I’ve seen a few elsewhere, but 8HP is a good and more reliable for big power, the clutch kicking is cool as hell too
