Jesse appears to live in some bubble that protects him from the dark side of FFXIV.
He doesn't know about Balmung how is this even possible
Not even dark side... a bubble that protects from even the average online FFXIV community at all. This stuff is like... impossible to not have HEARD of. Sure, not use them I get, but not even know about them? Literally putting blinders and earplugs on.
I play FF14, and I also have no idea what this survey is all about. I can guess some of them, but mostly, I have no idea.
@@deniszubko3819 same. Sure, I can see things like this being around. Somewhere. I just haven't encountered any of it.
I mean, it's kinda simple. Just play like it's a single player game. Idk it feels like if Jesse was gonna communicate in FF14, it would be over discord, not chat box.
"Is there a part of the community that is as messed up as wow's?"
Sweet summer child
The peak toxicity of WoW was like... 3.5/10 at best.
There are some communities out there that need to be declared Superfund Sites.
Thankfully it's really easy to avoid that part.
feels kinda bad the question that makes him bring that up is the plugins specifically made to make the game feel better to play if you don't live right next to the server though. Some jobs are borderline unplayable if you live outside of US or JP
@@TrueChaoSclx And if you're just unlucky enough to live far enough away from one of the EU Datacenters. I know the further out from central Europe you get, the worse your connection becomes.
@@Prophes0r **glares at LOL**
Translation for Jesse: Balmung Quicksand is Moonguard Goldshire.
The "Have you ever been to Balmung Quicksand?" question sent me. Like bruh, every character on that server **Has** to go there at multiple points for story reasons and a 1/3rd will start there! Also, I don't care if they've only ever been to the Quicksand and nowhere else, Table Cloth is pure!
Eh it is and it isn't
@@electronsympathy I think just playing on Balmung is a strike against the purity.
@@RubinousVT You know, the Quicksands used to be a wholesome place to find some pickup RP. It didn't become what it is until they allowed moving between servers. It's people from all the other servers that have ruined Balmung's Quicksand
@@Mitheledh yeah, I used to play on balmung. World and DC travel has made me flee.
This was so funny! It was like studying for test and not even understanding what it was about 😂
12:11 As someone who would have to answer "yes" to the question, I agree with you Jesse. There's a difference between "that character is attractive" and actually fantasizing.
Also, I think reading this survey actually made me less pure by making me aware of things to google.
Yeah I saw the question about fantasizing while doing this test with a friend and he joked about how I like Graha. I was like "Yes, I like him, and a few other characters, but I don't *fantasize* about them." There's a difference between eye candy that you're just like "Heyyy that's my boy~" and fantasizing like "YES TAKE ME!!" lol
A lot of these questions though are stupid. Like I've used ACT but I only use it to see where I myself can improve and to see where I'm at compared to others. I don't use it to be extreme about parsing and being the absolute best. I just like to see if I'm doing the worst and how I can improve to make things better for everyone. Also a vast majority of the questions on here are all about doing like savages and such which I'd say like 90% of the player base doesn't bother with.. there's really no need to do them unless you want to challenge yourself.
Lil JC is clearly named after Jesse Cox who is 100% an anime character
He and his best friend, Fujimora Pantsu
@@Pravaification They call me Fujimura Pantsu, and I swing my axe at you-u~♪
@@IrideaeSnowbloom Living so fast and free
@@Pravaification still can't believe he didnt name his character this.
Love how Jesse is the pure epitome of Johnny MSQ and is totally disconnected from all this stuff, it's so nice and refreshing.
I was totally on page with Jesse. I thought this was going to be a lewd test lol. Who in their right mind would expect Jesse to be parsing and doing all that number crunching.
it's both
@@drewmalekith4614yes, but even that section involves going into the deep end of the modding and/or rp scene. Not the more causal “I thought this cat girl was hot and seen a fan art pic once” type
Yeah this test is basically "Are you an asshole?? Yes or No." Most of the questions barely make sense and barely apply to the vast majority of the XIV player base. I thought this test would be more fun and actually a "purity" test. I saw this video then before watching the full thing wanted to do the test with a friend I play with and a few questions in we just gave up because it was so stupid. I even started asking myself if I've seen anyone do any of those things and the answer generally was no.. there's definitely a small niche of players that wouldn't be "pure" by this test's standards but people here are acting like that's everyone that plays..
@@Eventide215 i mean, it's more asking "do you use ACT, plugins, or mods (combat or visual). There are a few questions about being an asshole but the vast majority are basically "do you break the official ToS"
@@drewmalekith4614 I did the test and you're incorrect. The official stance on things like ACT, ReShade, etc is they don't care as long as you don't use it maliciously against someone. Like parsing damage and seeing who is doing the worst then kicking them. That's against the ToS. Simply using ACT to see your damage isn't against their official stance though.
The majority of the questions though are things like Balmung Quicksand.. which if you play on Balmung you'd have to answer yes because if you did the story you'd have gone through there. Balmung is known as a "special" place full of elitists and weird people though since it's one of the oldest servers.
8:47 The Quicksand is Momodi Modi's place in Ul'dah. For shame being unfamiliar with a fellow lala's place of in-world business. Balmung is just a server on the Crystal DC.
"just" a server, yes...
Jesse continues to be a heartwarming, uplifting choice every time I make a bad decision and stay up too late. Always a good watch, and especially at times like this! Never change, Jesse. Yer just a good lad.
I think we've found the purest FFXIV player out there
There’s more of us out there.
I had 2 crimes, I watched Xenos' ff14 drama vids and I have installed Xiv launcher, because it was solution for my broken files and its so much better than vanilla launcher
i got 97/100 i dont raid or use mods and i dont erp that not hard
"I don't even know what ACT is!"
Well I know how this is going to go...
"Parses are for nerds." -Jesse Cox, 2024, Proud Nerd.
The Sweep emote for FFXIV and the Violin Emote for WoW are peak comedy when someone is lying there dead on the ground. LOL
20:31 the musical timing LMAO
The summary of this video: Jesse shouts No! at the screen
9:15 - the music timing here lmao
It's such a perfect moment for an animation short.
Maybe have I maybe, died tanking checking out other Catboys 😼
Gotta check those Miq and Hroth Adventure Plates. Especially if they're in a spicy glam for the dungeon. ;)
@@CelebrinL GIrls for me, but I'm always sad when a plate is private. You know they probably have some spicy shit they are protecting from prudes that would report.
@@Heldemon I don't see many private plates anymore... every once and again... what makes me sad are the boys who are wearing something spicy but haven't made a plate at all... :(
Poor Rhitahtyn, before the Cape Westwind rework, his best defense was the sprouts watching the cutscene before the fight.
I appreciate your etiquette in mmo. Love to see it.
jesse is so pure pure, that santa cannot resist his maid skills
I think it's less about being pure and that the questions are focused on a small amount of the ffxiv audience rather than the general audience.
Love ya Jesse. :) Can't wait to see Lil JC in Dawntrail.
"I just.. i just wanna shake you" cackling fhdjfj
I'm half expecting Lil Jc to become a fixture at the Balmung Quicksand now
I don't use mods, but I have thought "Why am I second in the aggro tables as a dancer?" multiple times.
Even better - why i'm second on aggro as AST? :)
I took this test and was surprised that these are questions are for a specific part of the community and not the general pool of players.
The reason while some people would use stuff like NoClippy or XIVAlexander is so that they can play on servers with bad ping while still being able to double weave (for example, someone in Europe or South America raiding on an NA Datacenter).
Q. Have you ever fantasized about either your own character or a story character.
I've said Krile is my Bae (lore says she is an adult), but I don't log off and think dirty thoughts about her. I just legit wanna hang out with her, I think she's cool. Also, my character is a self insert same gender and I'm straight.
Right there with you, although I'm tangentially aware of more of the mod/parse stuff.
Because I, too, like to troll the sprouts in Cape Westwind (liked to in this case), The Final Day, and occasionally drop random positional markers when trial roulettes have 3 or more people in cutscenes...
19:15 I love that the answer there is a yes, but not in a malicious way. And yeah guilty there too myself.
"just go play wow if you are into that stuff" lowkey sounds like a threat lmao
The main thing I've learned from this video, is I don't think Jesse has ever done Savage.
Anyone who ran old castrum or prae has pulled when a sprout was in cutscene.
I've never intentionally pulled when a sprout was in a cutscene, but a few times I wandered a little too close by accident. I've never actually done this as a tank, usually as a healer.
92/100, and it's mostly lewds I lost score on XD gotta love being a recent joinee!
Coming From Maid Pure Pure, id expect nothing left
As someone that is on Balmung, I hate it asks about The Quicksands. Some of us don’t go to Ul’dah for this reason. Also sorry from Balmung >.
If you are ON Balmung you have BEEN to the Balmung Quicksands. Not even for the reasons they are implying though just because the story forces you to along with several events. And honestly being from Balmung....its kinda just a nice server aside from the quicksand and some player housing. We don't get alot of the more shit people and the worst thing is just the occasional time where you get some dickhead randomed into your group who raises a stink about playing with a Balmung player. And that reduced a lot after they split the servers up more and a lot of the most annoying dicks went away while cheering about our 'quarantine'.
Honestly only bad thing that really happened there for me was functionally losing one of my good friends to another server because of how many raid groups including Balmung players got broken up when one of the more raid centric servers disconnected from us. She ended up spending most her time on a new character on that server so she could keep Proging with her raid friends. *shrug*
what the hell is going on in the balmung quicksand lol I've never heard of this
The sad thing is that, at least for a while now, most of the degeneracy going on out there is from off server. Loooots of tags these days.
Eh, I RP'ed on Balmung when I am bored, most folks there respect your boundaries tbh, the whole time since dc travel open I only have to blacklist 1 person. There is a lot of hearsay about the place and people just take it at face value and run with it. Just set your expectations right, and everyone will be having a good time, if you don't want rp, throw "no rp" on your adventure plate and not a soul will bother you.
I saw someone say accidental sinning is still sinning in regards to that question lol.
To answer your question Jessse, Yes Parsing and dps chasing and funny numbers like WoW exists in XIV. Lots of people who do savage and ultimate enjoy that type of thing. The reason they do it in XIV and not WoW is they like the fight and job design of XIV end bosses better than WoW end bosses. Hope that clears things up!
Im not sweaty but using ACT and that add-on that reduces ability response time improve my experience.
People in like California and Texas and stuff probably don't need the second one. Im on the east coast though.
Honestly I loved using ACT, it let me fine tune my own rotation and timing, and if my raid group happened to be curious about how they did it was instantly accessible. Plus comparing it to the higher end could help timings too, but I've also experienced the Darkside of being shamed and kicked for not reaching a color. 😂
@@AsuraTheBass I think the one thing people don't realize about DPS meters is that they don't create a problem. They just make one that naturally occurs worse.
It's been forever since I raided in Guild Wars 2, but back when I did, people didn't really judge you by your DPS. They judged you by how many clear tokens you had or whether you had some really hard to obtain title. Basically anything that could gauge your skill and experience.
Ultimately, it really is just a part of the game, pretty much every game, that happens because hard content is very time consuming and for the most part other players are beyond your control. The one way you can control them is by picking the ones with a low probability of failure.
Tell me... what does the 'clear form'-button do? (at 3:15)
That button bothered me so much.
"It apparently saved my answers" he said.
A parse is the term for the compiled logs that packet scanner gathers from ff14, used to calculate your performance during a duty. Big numbers go brrrrrr.
Little JC is PURE
I've installed FFXIVLauncher, but that's because the stock launcher was downloading an update at 4kb/s and I wanted to see if literally anything would help
Jesse: Being a tank is the most unga bunga shit
My ffxiv tank main character's name since i started playing: Oogabooga Ungabunga
I was a fellow victim of the Cape Westwind meme before they reworked it haha
My bro, who got me into playing FFXIV, warned me that it would be a Very Difficult Fight when I was still new to the game. And in my panic, I sent a message to the party that I was a new healer and that I would try my best to perform well. Someone replied with an "lol" and then we proceeded to positively melt poor Rhitatyn's HP bar 😂
Good times! Always makes me laugh whenever I think back on that moment
i was so confused until I read the comment section. mmos are numbers games, its literally how combat works
I lost points in the etiquette tab, mostly due to accident or stupidity on my part. Yes, I have by accident early pulled an S-Rank, started a fight without waiting for cutscene and even flamed a sprout (It wasn't meant to be a flame, BUT OOPS ALL CAPS). None intentional, but yes.
Honestly I fully endorse using housing mods. Specifically Bringing Down The House. You can't do anything in it you can't do without it, it just takes away the tedium of floating furniture. And frankly the devs do not care as long as you don't stream it and aren't obnoxious about placing items outside, like going over the fence into the road. I used BDTH, I would not have the patience for non modded furniture floating
Also how many times can you go "NO. I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS, WHAT?!" before you realize, maybe this test wasn't made for you. You may argue 'then he's pure' but it's more like, he's not very deep into this game and hasn't even had the chance to do any of these things. XIV Launcher is pretty standard for most PC players for example. Hell, I work maintenance on an apartment property, and I went into a guy's apartment for an inspection and he had XIV Launcher up on his computer lol. But not even knowing what it is? That's just being an ignorant player (Not in a bad way).
But like, he doesn't even know what flaming means and he's a long time gamer lol.
I've accidentally pulled during a cutscene before, I was kind of on auto pilot at like the last roulette of the day and felt bad about it for like a week
Jesse to Raiders: Ew, Go play WoW
Jesse to Roleplayers: I love and support you
PVE over PVP at the Jesse house
I don't play 14, still thoroughly enjoyed it.
I just found out that you're a Merlwyb stan like I am. I Love my Chief Admiral.
God, Jesse is just so good at acting dumb/ignorant...
Man I can't play without some QoL plugins(MCH rotation comes to mind..), but I'm also casual as shit and don't even do Savage/non-DF things. Let me tell you tho, the housing plugin(even with just the apartment) and the glam plate plugins are LIFE-CHANGING and I cannot go back.
I just want to know when Jesse is going to do a video of him playing the Night Springs expansion. I want to see his reaction to it so bad !!! ❤❤❤
you sweet summer child
"I feel like I can get 4 commendations from guildhiests" So anyone gonna tell him......
First of all: Deathroll is the purest thing in FF14.
When you git gil cap once, you feel amazing. When you hit it a second or third time and have to out it on your retainers, its getting whatever. Thats why you NEED deathrolls o.ō
the silence when he reads "have you ever emoted on someone's corpse" XD
The statues got him man....
23:04 Benny Hill music begins to play in my head
Jesse not knowing what the hell the questions in the first section were even talking about cracked me up.
"How can I bring you down to my level," says the man with one "Yes" answer on the entire test.
I know it's not like, meant to be a super serious test but... I got a 92, but I feel like it should have been more like, 94. Because:
1: I think if you HAVEN'T fantasized about at least one of the story characters at some point, even just a little bit, then YOU are the weird and impure one.
2: There should be a bit of clarification about the 'shaming someone for low dps behind their back' bit... because I think there is a fine line between 'shaming someone for low dps', and just, looking at ACT and wondering "Why am I 65% of my party's damage?". That's not really 'shaming' it's a legitimate curiosity and worry especially when the healer is in fact DPSing and the other DPS is the lowest on the list at like 7% of the damage done. That's not really shaming them for low dps, that's legitimately wondering if they are AFK or something. I would never 'shame' someone for low dps. But yes, I'm going to judge you when you are doing 7% of the total damage as a DPS. I won't say anything, but I'm definitely thinking something. And if your response is 'you shouldn't be using ACT'... you're going to think this regardless, with a party that has dps that low, you're going to wonder why the run is taking so long, and why bosses are dying so slowly.
I feel like this might end up getting Jesse to look up some of the stuff mentioned and corrupting him a little.
hey! I use those same priorities for commendations!
Ah Deadly Boss Mod. I remember Jesse using that, back in the wow days
I got a 90/100 there myself. My time as a raider, with ACT and parsing brought my score down. Never really cared about the parse, but it was the done thing. Never bothered even checking other people's parses. But I do admit that I did feel good the one time I got a pink parse (95+) from a savage raid.
the XIVLauncher is something alot of people use to be fair, the official launcher can act up or have issues, it dos everything the official launcher dos, and generally more stable i guess?
it dos have optional plugins, like chat bubbles and other harmless things, as well as the mentioned more game changing stuff like lowering ping.
as for balmung, its a server, and quicksand is the bar at uldah, wich is where the more denegerate chunk of FF14 hang out.
omg. the rescue/shirk thing... it was one of my last prae runs before they changed it, and me and the other healer had a dragoon leap at nero, then BOTH of us rescued so he just went flying ALL over the place... it was the funniest shit i've ever seen in the game. naturally nero went down like 3 seconds later... but that dragoon.. man... i wish i could have seen that shit from his POV lol... /sweep.
... also the 2b leggings and hempen camise is the thighlander official uniform.
Jesse is by far the purest RUclipsr I've seen take this test
Am I insane or does everything seem really zoomed in? I have no idea what the result was.
Must have been before MoP. You joined us in Cata and that never happened to us haha
Our main tank got banned on Mannoroth Progression in the middle of a pull, with the boss at 10 percent but that was WoD.
I scored a 86/100 for this purity test. I just use bunch of quality of life plugins, some to bypass annoying mechanics, and a bunch of uprezzed textures to fix the blurriness of objects up close. (Glad that SE are fixing the textures and implementing some of the quality of life plugins into the game for everyone. But still, there's plenty of reason to use plugins still.
I mean i also havent experienced the dark side since starting in heavensward. But im also a casual who doesnt surround myself with that type of person. If i encounter them i usually wont remember because i wont stick around.
"Is there a part of this community that was all hugs and kisses...but was actually as messed up as WoW."
Yes. It's absolutely crazy the amount of people that will be all high and mighty when someone gets caught with addons in a raid, while simultaneously using as many plugins just for other things because they don't see those as effecting anyone because they can't see past first order effects.
"I did an Ultimate, Midcore"
Oh... Oh OK... 😢
Most of this stuff has to do with plugins against the ToS, we don't talk about them for that reason. But this part of the community definitely exists, especially in savage raiding. That being said I know a crime tool that you can use to ride other players as a lala so.. do with that info what you will.
It's true they're against TOS but at the same time you REALLY need to go out of your way for the devs to bother you about it. It's really not worth their time to fight it unless it's actively causing harm to other players or blatant cheating
@LooseCo true we generally have an understanding that they'll look the other way as long as we aren't blatant or crappy about it
The only points i would have gotten on this test is:
I am using XIVLauncher and I am using XIV Alexander, because I play on US East from Europe, and XIV does help in ping reduction, most notably on Machinist or when trying to double weave.
18:30 Yeah, I was watching Twiggie last night... I saw that. LOL
I initially play on JP servers because that's where I come from, but I moved to EU a few years back. Imma be honest to say I do use ping plugins so I could continue to play with my friends with constant 250-280 ping (and that I can't transfer between data centers). It does make double weave slightly more possible for me but it's not to an extend that some people say it's straight up cheating. It feels somewhere around 100-150 ping even with the plugin tbh, so some jobs are impossible to play for me - I can't use all machinist hypercharge charges even after they capped it, the ninjutsu rubberbands, dragoon rotation never loops perfectly etc., not to mention it's borderline impossible to handle bubble mechs in high-end because what I see on screen does not match with what's happening.
I have shit talked other dps players, mostly because I was definitely the one doing all he damage. "Homie... You know how combos work right?"
Where is Skyrim?
Callers in raid are pretty common in statics.
Balmung Quicksand is basically Moonguard Goldshire. If you know, you know.
99. Sometimes you just Need the loot from your daily's because it's pretty and you're the Tank.
Forget farming Guildhests for commendations. I used to do one per day for the daily completion XP, when I was still lower in level and almost nobody commends in Guildhests, on top of having long queue times, because so few people play them (on the European datacenter at least). You're better off playing healer in trials. It's also more fun.
Does the 2B question still count, if a skirt hides everything except the shoes and ankles? Because I have it as part of my Scholar glam, but as I said for the shoes, with the pantie part being hidden under the ankle-length skirt. Most of the scholar specific shoes are very utilitarian and robust, rather than elegant, which fits the class, but sometimes I just want something a little prettier.
Technically I left EX trial parties right after getting the mount, but only because I was the last one in the party to finally get the mount, on multiple occasions, at one point even with a need roll of 1. But when someone else needed the mount still, I stayed, either until everyone had the mount, or until the party dissolved due to too many others leaving or the party leader hitting dissolve party, instead of leave party.
I loved messing with sprouts with old Cape Westwind; when we used to put down raid markers and act like this was some kind of high tier nonsense before pulling
Also if I’ve ever intentionally failed a mechanic: yes. I wanted the Squeenix building in the last nier raid to launch me into space. It was worth it. (I was also on call with the healers and told them I wanted to and they let me 😂)
I'm like 7m in and Jesse is the PUREST
12:05 "Then why even say it? Because SHE'S OBJECTIVELY HOT!" Bless you Jesse xD I couldn't agree more about Merlwyb (and also your argument that there is a difference between that and actively fantasizing - there ABSOLUTELY is!)
Chat's hellbend to make Jessy look like them XD
6:00 i suddenly got my answers to why people do this in FFXIV
I got my new t-shirt - "Parses are 4 nerds".
Have you ever Accidently pulled while Baby"sprout" is watching cutscene, Yes. XD
... I've told Sprouts that Cape Westwind is SUPER HARD, and put down the markers that read D1C BA4
And I've mocked streamers for not making the DPS check at the end of 6.0's last trial.
I don't ask for resets, they ask me to reset cause I'm the last one left alive
Ok ok wait I said used to asking for a reset because I died because I'm like last line of defense there, usually the other tank is dead and we're screwed because the other healers are out of MP. I will not complain because I didn't Crit don't lump me with them.
All of that very much exists in FF14. I am pretty casual, and I see it.
Feel like I'm gonna be pure just for playing on console haha i had no idea so many mods existed!
