A bit of added lore from V. Morrison is revealed to be the one that helped Dante and Trish reach the island via a boat he secured for them.
If there is gonna be a remake for dmc1 (and 2) I hope they keep the atmosphere that mallet island had it is still imo the best location in all of Dmc and an expansion of its lore would be great aswell
It’s funny how Dante is dodging the bloody puppets while giving us a tour of the ancient castle and it’s history.
Excellent vid, man. Here are some of my thoughts.
1. (20:35) A bit of a correction and side note: Pluto wasn't the god of death, but the god of the underworld, or the dead. More specifically, Pluto was another Greek name for Hades, which the Romans eventually adopted. Still, it's very clearly meant to be Mundus.
2. (23:11) Another small correction and side note: Hermes' cadeceus being used to represent medicine is a common misatribution; the actual symbol is the rod of Asclepius, which has a single snake around it. More interestingly, the boss Trismagia in DMC2 is based on Hermes Trismegistus, legendary founder of Hermeticism, from which alchemy and astrology are said to derive.
3. (23:51) The sea of Sargasso is indeed a real place, and it's located just off the east coast of the United States, and right next to the Bermuda Triangle; which leads me to think that the plane is actually meant to be part of the legendary Flight 19, which was mysteriously lost in that region during WWII. That geographic relation, as well as the general Spanish flair (as seen in RE4) of the castle, the pirate ship (28:28) and the reference to Avalon (31:27), all seem to point out to me that Mallet Island is to be located somewhere in the North Atlantic Ocean.
Thanks for high quality knowledge.
Great deduction!
True. In the wiki it said the island constantly moves around. But it makes since if it's near the Bermuda Triangle. A island inhabited by demons who kill anyone tress-passing.
I dare say, this game has a much deeper lore, and undervalued, lore than souls series. I can even expect open world hack n slash game that tells the stories of Demon World civil war, connected to this lore, an the story will be mysterious, catchy and consistant.
I really want a remake of DMC1 right now.
and 2 in a different direction
@@maximmatiyuk5240 maybe combine the two and make the second one actually decent.
When one is surrounded by demons it's easy to miss the devil in the details. What an amazing way to see the past from a different perspective. It almost begs a spin-off manga series which show anthology events of the castle throughout time such as the soldier wandering into the castle, finding a grenade gun and dying from exhaustion. At 11:55 my best guess is St. Michael.
It's so cool to think about symbols that are thousands of years old still used with prevalence today.
This video was a lot of fun to watch. We get to know more about a game we run through and not pay attention to the story being told. Well done bro. Keep up the good work👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Wow I had no idea there was such an intricate backstory associated with Mallet Island. That’s super interesting and really cool actually. Cheers!
Anyone else find it kinda funny that the Ambrosia from DMC3 looks _exactly_ the same as the Qliphoth Fruit from DMC5?
I mean it says that its a demonic fruit too
I had the feeling this is the inpiration for the qliphoth design
@@gaborszabo7765A human cannot eat it. As it's fruit "for the gods".
I'm quite sure it's a withered fruit.
Thanks for the tour! I look forward to the tour of the Qliphoth... "This is a ginormous metaphor for a family tree, mirroring the themes and characters of the game... Aaaand thank you for joining us today, you will find the gift shop to your left--" :P
Omg the lullaby of out of darkness is amazing any version of the song gives me chills
Dante being on his own is better. It gives an Explorer vibe.
also he brings all his enemies to life in this one
As I watched this again back to back this video is amazing as this game is my all time favorite franchise and hearing more lore about the game is fascinating thank you for the hard work and effort you put into this
I don't know why but the trees waving violently without making a single sound freaks me out
Lore videos? This,I like.
21:00 I beleve this doesn't refer to Mundus, but to the first demon king mentioned in the DMC3 Manga, with him being overthrown by Mundus. This demon king was the one who first split the Human and Demon worlds, and this says that Pluto "will separate heaven and earth" witch fits better with that than with it being Mundus, seeing that Mundus wants to join the two worlds.
Also, this would imply that those who lived on Mallet Island lived before the split of realms
Man.. I wish more games were paced like this. Capcom has this weird allure to their worlds. Even in Resident Evil I want to find every scrap of paper or bit of hidden info that lays the groundwork of the story. The best part is some people just blow past all this stuff. You're rewarded for digging deeper, which is super cool to me- one of the reasons Dark Souls captivated us all so much I believe. I fuckin' love this series.
Can you make a Temen ni gru rabbit hole one? This is very fun to watch!
Awesome video I’ve always loved the atmosphere and lore of mallet island
Hell yes I've been waiting for this video!
Playing Dmc whilst watching a vid about Dmc. Amazing
I didnt' think about this Mallet island as for it having human resident that had there own experiences. Cool video devil.
Great video. Well done. Really interesting lore about the Island
Amazing Video! I would LOVE to see a deep dive video like this for the Temen-ni-gru aswell😍
Would've been cool if angels were in the DMC games. Like they work with the dmc crew to fight demons.
Why? They are half demons and humans that work with half demons. To angels, this would be seen as a petty squabble amongst demons. Probably would let it all play out before ever attempting contact. That, and angels can be conceptual. For all we know, they are. Of course in DMC, demons are real, but if there were angels, why wait to show up?
I love videogames for this kind of thinks, the chance of see the world without taking care of time
This island is located in the Bermuda triangle 😂
i'd take a guess and say, Perhaps the soldiers tried to explore the island and castle and maybe use it as a base, (Or shelter after escaping a battle) and attempted to fight back or escape from the castle (Which might explain the skeleton near the drawbridge release) when being confronted/hunted down by the demons like phantom ,which might explain why it says "Another small one, I sense something A little bigger, What a disappointing catch" (By my interpretation, Implies Phantom had encountered humans before, But preferred to hunt the humans that are able to fight back, such as soldiers, etc.) Which might explain why such weapons are on the island. Though could be way off, But as I'm just guessing, I know i am possibly wrong.
I really appreciate and enjoy this content. Very interesting and informative 👍.
one thing i wish dmc kept was the interactactble objects that give text for world building...dmc3 had it at least...but i think 4 and defintely 5 forgone it. such a shame too cause it gives the world more context, or gives dante thoughts on his world
This game is giving me some dark souls vibe in terms of world building
How much of Mallet Island was transferred to the castle chapter of Resident Evil 4?
Only 5 millon sales
For DMC5? and?
@@xDevilNeverCry I expected much more
@@Mojavekight17it's quite niche. Even still.
Where is solaire on mallet island lol.
Probably praising the sun where there aren’t any demons
@@xDevilNeverCry to bad he never drops his summon sign for dante.
I hope the final devil may cry is nero taking down mundus once and for all. Maybe the DS Dante would fuse with the yamato and nero would use the ultimate creation of sparda passed through the generations converging on the poin of finally riding the underworld of its kings and gods.
Mundus is confirmed dead in both the DMC2 novel and the Visions of V manga
@@xenowarrior282 did he die in the dmc 2 novel? Its been a while since i read it.
