Good to see a new FFXIV video ❤. Kinda agree with how the MSQ is not resonating with many people and that YoshiP and team are trying to testing the waters as you mentioned "slowly steering the wheel".
The mechanics is up in difficulties due to our new level cap. And I enjoyed the challenge, hating my derpness along the way but I had fun. Then again, I am always the glass is half filled type of person, I kinda like how we went from the main problem solver to somewhat a mentoring role. There some slow parts still, hoping to see more of the later patches to know.
And like YoshiP encourage us, it is okay to take a break from FFXIV. There is a Chinese saying, "You rest in order to travel further". So rest, look at the world and most importantly have fun.

I've been playing FFXIV since 2014 and I didn't enjoy the MSQ in this expansion, but there're other activities in the game I still like. It's weird for me taking a break from a game that's been part of my life for 10 years on a daily basis, but I do feel the devs are very passionate about it and even if this expansion's story hasn't been up to my expectations, that doesn't mean we won't get great stories in the future. As some other people have commented, it's good taking breaks. I still keep having hopes and good feelings for the future.

Probably a hot take but I think it would have been nice if Dawntrail didnt have a big main story thing, and instead just added a lot of gameplay type things (like Deep dungeons, raids, bozja-likes, improved sanctuary island type thing, etc. I know theyre still adding these things, but I mean to shift the focus to instead.)
Maybe each character would have their own mini-story that you would need to help them out with, instead of constantly doing missions that just glaze Wuk.
I know its most likely unrealistic, but thats just personally what I would have enjoyed out of DT. They made DT as some sort of vacation type thing, but doing the MSQ felt like a chore.

One thing people need to bear in mind about FFXIV is that the huge surge of hype that occurred in 2020/2021 due to the pandemic and WoW exodus was an outlier. "Real FFXIV" was never like that and people who were around during 3.0-5.0 know that.
A lot of the people who came on board at that time have already long-since caught up to current endgame and completed their long MSQ rite of passage. For content creators, that’s usually the point when their activity in FFXIV will slowly drop off as they have ran out of MSQ to do. In fact this didn't start happening in 7.0 but rather, in the post-6.0 patch era where you probably recall there was all that doomposting about the game being dead or whatever.

It sounds like I align pretty closely to how you've been feeling. 7.0 just didn't click with me, primarily from the MSQ perspective as well.
It's a weird feeling. I've been playing since HW and as soon as a new patch dropped historically I couldn't wait to do the MSQ. 7.1 has been out for what, 2, 3 weeks now? And I haven't even started it and it's the first time I haven't wanted to do the MSQ. I do feel like it'll be a long expansion for me as at this point I really am only looking forward to 8.0.

  • @sunayocarissime5309
    @sunayocarissime5309 11 дней назад +8

Everyone needs to relax. The hint I got from Dawntrail is that Squeenix threw stuff at the wall to see what would stick. Some worked, some didn't. Point is I encourage Square Enix to innovate. That's what created Realm Reborn to begin with and now look where that escalated to. Went to Heavensward, one of my favorite expansions. Stormblood has the same feeling Dawntrail does but its that kind of innovation that makes the game all the better. Squeenix is experimenting and that usually breeds incredible future projects.
Quazii is not quitting, its just the game is experiencing a light content drought is all.

The devs making mistakes wouldn't be such a problem if history didn't show them being so extremely slow to tackle them if at all (we still have unfinished races and gear cutting of ears for example).
Then there is also YoshiP with his PR talk and not talking facts which also makes it hard to understand what exactly they heard and what not or if criticism is even taken serious.
For me they try so hard with the surprise factor with the content that the DT MSQ and the extreme Wuk Lamat focus was absolutely in-transparent or even wrong presented beforehand and we still don't know if we can expect a different approach in later patches or not.
Even with the jobs he promised a change and a go back to more individuality and no more simplification and instead we got the new DRG and the VPR change.
Then there is his vehemently slowing down of unlocking gear for all jobs despite the playerbase wanting it ("muh BLM in armor" excuse), chatbubbles taking ages to implement, no pvp rewards since I don't know or even the bringing back of old rewards they promised.
Even you already talk about the next expansion which (even though I know you don't mean it) sounds like completely given up on this one.
Yoshida and Co need to explain and talk better. I think that's one of the biggest mistakes right now.

Ultimately yoshida is a suit. So long as the game is bringing in some cash flow they will continue course.
Players need to vote with their wallets if they are unhappy. Unfortunately the rainbow crew seems to be infecting this game at the moment so dont expect it to be anywhere near the kind of story quality like ut used to be. I forsee veilgaurd level of writing to start happening we have already tipped a toe into that level.

  • @nyrahl593
    @nyrahl593 10 дней назад +4

The 7.0 MSQ was a misfire for sure. The beginning was great, the middle was just absolute crap, and the last part was decent. As pacing has been mentioned, quest selection also needs to be mentioned. Escort quests, Fetch, are the bane of this game. Solo Duties are such a fun change of pace that, even with they are awful. It is still enough of a break, they are welcome. A notable chunk of the MSQ could have been side quests, and if I wanted to dive into the lore more I could do it.... Optionally. With regards to MSQ, the quest XP was way too high. It limited what job(s) I could do it on because I was leveling so fast. I wanted to run story dungeons more, but couldn't on the jobs I really wanted to, because the XP output was tuned far too high. This was also the first expansion since 4.0 where I was begging for the next dungeon, because the quests were not enjoyable anymore.
I wish someone would get candid and unapologetic with YoshiP on the gear treadmill. You can login during any patch and know exactly what gear is current. An example, in 7.3 we'll get the next set of crafter/gatherer gear. It'll be i750 and that will carry us all the way until 8.0 (ignoring DoH/L relics). There is no practical reason at all to BiS unless you want to do ultimates, or give yourself breathing room in savage. The ONLY time I had an absolute blast getting gear was during Diadem 1.0; which the savage raiders cried about because the gear was, if RNG blessed you, better than savage gear. Though, Diadem died so Eureka/Bozja could live; but I digress. SE is giving absolutely zero incentive for us to do older content, finished or not. Eureka+BA/Bozja could be tied to new relic progression along with Occult Crescent for all I care, or updated to be more welcoming to those that did not do the content when it was relevant. Instead these areas are abandoned, only relying on the goodness of the community to keep them going. Things like Variant and Criterion dungeons are a great step, but those are tossed aside once done.
The only reason I even suggest reusing of older content is because YoshiP's #1 excuse for a lot of things is their lack of budget, and at this point it is getting tiresome, but more so frustrating because I know its not entirely his fault. However, I'm at the point if cutting all the voice overs except for JP, saves enough money to get us maybe two dungeons per patch again? That'd be a nice start; or give us more blue side quests that are truly optional for the lore fiends. Just, something more than 7 quests, a few voiced lines and a dungeon. At least in 7.2 we'll get probably 10 quests along with our predictable dungeon and new trial.
FFXIV also has no reward system that incentivizes people that login daily or play daily. FF11 has at least monthly campaigns that if you play enough, you can get items that otherwise would be impossible for one person to obtain or obtain in a timely manner; it isn't perfect but it is SOMETHING. To FFXIV's defense, it has a decade less of content, along with an entirely different battlefield structure. It is almost comparable to the moogle tomestones, being able to get items that are untradeable with some being extremely hard to get or very rare; and for the most part still kind of relevant. This one while plausible for SE to do in areas where the vertical progression is locked, like ultimates, or special areas like Eureka/Bozja.
TLDR; FFXIV desperately needs a bigger budget, and maybe needs to look at FF11 again for ideas on how to work with a crap budget. Someone needs to call out YoshiP on the gear treadmill and how badly it needs to change. The game needs more, and more frequently. Teasing things like the Occult Crescent which won't be out until potentially 8 months to a year after release of 7.0 is a damning indictment of their content cycle.

I want to write this comment to reach more people: Dawntrail is essentially ARR’s 2.0. We are starting a new chapter with fresh characters, new paths, new lore-everything is a new beginning for this story. Unlike Shadowbringers and Endwalker, we won’t be experiencing the same intense emotional highs. It was stated that Dawntrail would be more of a QoL expansion rather than one focused heavily on MSQ or side quests. The team is working hard to optimize these updates, especially regarding the graphics, but we just need patience. The payoff will come with the big patches ahead.
Quazii, it’s lovely to see that you’re still part of XIV. I’m looking forward to seeing more of your content once Dawntrail offers something that reignites your passion for the game. I appreciate that you spend the time putting together your WoW content. My personal experience in WoW is very different from what you have portrayed in your videos. To be fair, even a bad day in XIV has surpassed good days in WoW. I started in Heavensward, and have not stopped. I do have problems with the story telling of 7.0, but they are issues based on Character Personality, Job focus and who would have been the better character we were teamed with depending on the setting of the particular part of the MSQ. We very easily could have, after a certain point of the MSQ, changed our focus to another character. Not because they were better or worse, but because their individual focus would have absolutely fit so much better with the story focus at that particular point. In effect, our focus as the WoL could have been shared equally between both characters, and it would have, in my opinion, added a wonderful extra depth to the story.

For msq, the changes from feedback will start in 7.2 and so forth. 7.1 already in progress after official launch day, so 7.1 will still be the same pacing as 7.0 because change cannot meet the development schedule.
I’m a person who enjoy my time in DT msq, I understand all the hit and miss, all criticism, all hate. But at the end, it’s just a game. You dont feel like it, step back and find something new that worth the time. FF14 is a game that will not go anywhere, you can back to it anytime you want.

As Quazii said FF14 is my home. I'm not leaving this game anytime soon either. If you aren't feeling it save your money and time and just come back later. I don't play any game for as many months as I do FF14

I will never quit FFXIV, but I have unsubbed for now! Dawntrail had some awesome moments but overall, it was just okay! Square overdid Wuk Lamat to much! I like the idea of the character but not how they delivered the character! I am doing other things & playing my many games from my huge list! I am looking forward to a really good storyline in the future! Dawntrail felt like a Story Prologue to me! Here is to a bright FFXIV future in 2025 & beyond!

  • @pprjackcheese

here me out at least on why im on the verge of quitting, now i know the stuff im about to list is not stuff you HAVE to do but its stuff to do in the game when you have no real quests that are interesting for myself to do. One thing is crafting and gathering. I LOVEEE doing this type of stuff in mmosrpgs. But in FF14? its a pain. Crafting is a pain i know we have macros to make it easier but melding my craft gear, getting gather gear melded its just..i hate it man its so annoying spending weeks to months and hundreds of thousands if not millions of gil to get the mateira to meld only to lose a stack of 300 destroyed is not really enjoying for me anymore. i know i can buy gear but....do i really keep spending millions of gil on gear? gonna keep it 100% fuck no i do NOT want to. crafting and gathering is a pain in the ass for me now. Now extremes, savage and ults. Extremes i dont really mind at all anymore. savages i just cant stand and same with ults. if im spending weeks and weeks and weeks dying and my group is wiping to the same mechs due to snapshots is just so beyond stupid at this point. i die more to snapshots then a dragoon backflipping off the map cuz they fat fingered the jump button. Dawntrail, was just a really sour experience to me i did not like a single bit of it and skipped all of it after i went to talk to 56 people about food and had wuk lamant steal EVERYONES spot light. i was glued to ff14 at one point but now i just go on from time to time to see if my beef jerky sold for 75m gil i put up as a joke. the game just isnt fun anymore to me. im gonna say something thats a ho take to end my ant. Mods kept this game alive because of the roleplayers and gposers and others we shall not name. if it wasnt for that the game wouldnt be as poppin. If you disagree with some of the things i said i absolutely do not mind at all i know this game is special and important to others but for me it just isnt hitting for me anymore. Sorry for my rant ive been keeping this in for awhile now.

Like yoshi p said, or rather encourage people, play other games, stretch your legs, go out. i say this also as someone who been playing 11 years now, (i played wow for 13 years before i quit officially in 2015) but rather than quitting, i am just taking an actual rest. so i say go for it, the story will pick up now that its starting from day 1 basically.

After EW with no long lasting content and DT which, so far got nothing new, the long time players are just done with the everyday stuff.
In addition to a MSQ which is worse then EW and does not even come close to SHB, the whole game feels a bit boring.
The FC im in is currently inactive. For the patch a lot of people came online, but after 1-2 days, the time to get up to date, it went back to only me logging in and doing the subs for Gil.
People compare it it SB, but back in SB we had a new Eureka island with every patch. Many hated it but a equal number of player loved it and it was the main reason to play every day.
I also look forward to the 7.3 patch and even 8.0. SE had to learn a lot from this launch and the things that are missing. It will become better.
And with this new Ultimate being on level with TEA, I am fully motivated to help my GF through UwU, TEA and to then jump into FRU.

You are not alone in the play time.. I was once on it every day and every way, but lately I am coming to see that SE don't honestly listen to the users.. For example, something that affects EVERYONE in the game is the lack of storage for relic weapons.. You spend so much time and grind out the weapon and then have no place to hold it.. NO I don't want a replicate No I don't want to hold EVERYONE weapon in my inventory or retainers..
I want to be able to get them all! EVERY expansion, the deep dungeons, all the unique weapons we have to grind for. The simple fix is to have a place to store them like a Weapons chests OR let us buy them from a vendor if we delete them... Make is expansive, I don't care really... I just am concerned that a small simple fix that has been going on since day one, and they have done NOTHING to fix it..
This is just one example in this game where they don't respect the time people have invested in it.. Given that I find myself wanting to do things but then asking myself, why bother... if they don't respect me, why or where does my respect for them end? Over time they will continue to lose my time and attention and then I will move on... a lot of people will.. if they don't fix it, it will be too late by the time they see it.. Too many games out there these days that respect my time.

Anger, resentment, displacement. This argument is quite flimsy. Relics are *optional.* Many haven't done them. They *do not* effect everyone. Are they a nice trophy? Sure. Do those weapon variables matter? Only if you plan on doing old content with the best equipment of the time. I don't see this happening very often, however.
*_Have_* to grind unique items? You're making a choice to do them. Could they add a weapons chest? Probably. This would require foundational changes to the game and its code. This could also break many other systems in place. Now we enter the realm of the player's patience, or lack thereof. This argument assumes it knows the developers intentions.
Player entitlement and petulance turned in on the developers. A misguided passion.

the FF14 fanbase will try to gaslight you into feeling that you're being irrational for caring, or not caring anymore. But you're right. Game designers *know* that collecting is a vital part of the MMO (and gaming in general) experience, at game design conferences they go into detail about how they help encourage it. Squenix doesn't really care that much.

Going by JUST the finished relic weapons, that's 79 slots. Multiply that by three for the step versions and you get 237, more than a retainer's 175 slots. But let's forgo that and just go with the finished... of which there's also the crafter and gatherer tools as well as Eureka and Resistance armour for every single type, which could all be solved by expanding the forgotten about armoire available since ARR.
But do go on fellating the company. They enjoy it.
