Wow! The Princess line went right in there up to the glacier. We were on Royal Caribbean Quantum of the Seas, and the captain said he decided to turn around before even coming within a glimpse of the glacier because it wasn’t safe. I just read a blog where a person complained that the staff (same cruise line, same ship) knew that the ship wouldn’t go near the glacier because they never do. The person who was complaining said this was false advertising and had a number of complaints about RCL, which resonated with us based on our experience.
Wow that would have been disappointing! I have heard from others that if it was foggy or there was lots of ice they wouldn't go in there but I felt like we got pretty close for such a big ship. It was a perfect day as you can tell so that was a contributing factor. This was in September so there may have been less ice than earlier in the season. Also keep in mind that many of my shots are zoomed in so we're not be as close as it seems but certainly close enough for a nice view. It certainly lived up to my expectations. I've been on several glacier tours on the small boats you see at the ports and that is the way to really see them. They go right up in the ice and very close. Those are great tours. Thanks for watching the video and taking the time to comment!
That's great! I think you will love it. July in Alaska is generally warm with the long days. Only if it's raining for an extended time will it be cool and damp. I hope you have a great trip! Thanks for watching and commenting.
I have lived here in Alaska 45 years, been where this video was taken and hundreds of other places here along coastal Alaska, I still tear up! No place compares to Alaska, simple! Enjoy your AK trip.😉👍
@@TroyOttosen-jg7tt Thank you for this comment. It's always nice to see that people who live there still see it with the same awe the rest of us do! I am always ready to go back. Thanks for watching!
This was the last half of September. I think there was only one more cruise to Alaska before repositioning. It was definitely cool and rainy but I was prepared for that so it was still great. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.
You're welcome! I hate that for you because I considered it one of the highlights of the cruise. I hope you had a great cruise otherwise. Thanks for watching and commenting!
This was in mid-September, the next to last Alaska cruise before repositioning for the season. The weather was mostly cool and rainy but doing it this late did let us see the northern lights. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I had a port cabin but for Alaska I think starboard is better. I thought we would get the views coming back but it didn't work that way. We were out in the open ocean. Still wasn't bad though! Thanks for watching and commenting.
Super well done video!
@@jmartinid Thank you so much! And thank you for taking the time to comment.
Awesome share
Thank you so much! It was an awesome place and well worth getting up early even while on vacation to see! Thanks for supporting the channel.
We will cruise this in June. Beautiful.
I hope you have a great trip and enjoy it as much as I did! Thanks for watching and commenting!

Beautiful! I will be seeing this this July. Can't wait! I hope it won't be too cold when I see this.

@@findushere So true! Just a longtime Alaskan saying how it is up here. Glad you realize how special, unique it is.😉👍
Beautiful scenery! What month did you go?

Thanks! Was there last week but it was too foggy for us to get to it.

In what month was this cruise taken? I'll be doing this Mid June, 2024.

Is port or starboard better??

@@SusanKendro-Scott You're welcome! I wouldn't hesitate to get port again if good starboard rooms were not available though.
