My ancestral village is "Nakrali" - Distt.Rawalpindi.Later my family moved to "Chhachi Mohalla" in Pindi.
Then in 1947 my family moved to Jammu.
Though I was born in Jammu I do recall my elders talking about Nakrali and Pindi always.The best sentence I still remember was "Assa ne Pindi Jehra Chaan Charna Aiya...Uss Heya Kiddray Ni Takkeya".
Its my wish if I can visit this "Sarzameen" ever in my life time.Aameen Summa Aameen.❤

I lived 84 years in Rawalpindi yet I did not the History. I heard that Hatti chowk that a elephant stood there? And Lall kurtti was where some English regiment with redskilts were stationed.I saw scotish soldiersgoing to church on the Mall called church of scotland .Thanks

Rawalpindi was established by Rajput Maharana Bappa Rawal. He setup his first military post at Rawalpindi while chasing sway Arabs before 8th century. Later on he setup a city and named it Rawalpindi.
It was already established by previous Gujjar empire. Jai Gurjar Samrat Mihir Bhoj slayer of arabs.

This place is now most hated place by the new generation no body wants to go there for shopping. Because it is the dirtiest place in the city now. But this documentary has made us think about banni, in a beautiful way.

Great work brother. My family are from Bani and are also shop keepers in the market. I can remember my grandmother talking fondly talk of the area and how she would sit around the bann during her days and ov Mai viroo. Once again thank you for bringing back some beautiful memories. I used to live with my parents in the first street in saidpuri gate entering from banni choke up to 1958.Used to visit talab ban mai Veero almost every evening.We use to sit on stone benches.

I really commend your professional and scholastic way of elaborating the events behind such places that are sighn of our civilisation. I used to write about these places when I was a young man like you and later planned to videograph all such places too and did a little bit of it. Now, in my Pak Expats RUclips Tv talk about other past social and political happenings as memoirs.Bravo...keep it up that great service to our city and Pakistan !

I feel sad and happy at the same time. Sad as such a beautiful place of a beautiful city is now in pakistan , seperated in the name of religion. Happy because the name bappa rawal, founder of surya vanshi rajputana dynesty whose bravery is legendary, his name is still there and some ppl from pakistan still remeber the hindu sikh lineage of rawalpindi
