They are a non-annual species, so you don't have to worry about shorter life spans with these. In fact, most annual killies will live a lot longer than folks think. Not as long as non-annuals, but most annuals will go well over a year.
I have not tried bug bites yet, but they seem like they would be a great food for these natural insect eaters. If you really want some of these Epiplatys, you can find them available here: getgills.com/catalog.dive/19
hi what live food do you feed your red chin killifish as i have some i also have some golden wonder killifish or gold killifish i feed them small crickets .live
They love crickets! I also feed them fruitflies, scuds, blackworms, and sometimes earthworms. BTW, the red chin killifish is generally Epiplatys dageti. The ones I have are a distinct species from Akio, just to avoid any confusion.
Clayton, I'm sorry to hear your eggs did not work out. Ordering eggs from a fellow killie geek in the same country often works if they are packed in an insulated box and such. IME, ordering from Asia does not work well because they ship them in a padded envelope without proper insulation, and they usually get too hot or too cold en route. If you like killies, the American Killifish Association is a wonderful organization where you can easily connect with other killie enthusiasts and obtain many, many species. It only cost $35/year. No pressure, but I thought you might like to know: 162.144.183.232/about-the-aka/
@@DansFish thank you some good advice didn't know bout the society see them on RUclips love the fish but local store couldn't special order so try eggs still going try again soon
If you can't find a local killie geek to hook you up, all my killies are for sale here: getgills.com/catalog Local is better because it does not have to be shipped and local relationships are helpful, but my stuff is good if you need it.
Hello Dee, When kept in a heavily planted tank, a few babies often survive and grow up especially if a bit of bbs is fed. Otherwise, a bare tank with a spawning mop is likely to yield some eggs. Hope they end up breeding for you soon!
Love their mouths. Awesome fish
My wife always comments on how cute their little mouths are too!
Nice video, cool fish. We decided to take a drink every time you said surface, 👍🍺
How was your hangover? I counted 14 "surface" mentions!

I took an asprin for you.

Are they annuals? From the bottom view they look as if a tiny half smoked cigar should be hanging out of that lip. Nice species.
