- When Loyola-Blakefield lacrosse player Peter Laake was struck in the chest with a ball during a game in April 2021, his heart stopped and he suffered what is known as commotio cordis. Fortunately, the team's athletic trainers and other personnel on the sideline were able to save Peter, acting immediately to provide life-saving CPR and a shock from an AED on the sideline.
350,000 people suffer an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest every year in country. Sadly, only 10% survive. CPR Saves Lives! Thank you, to the Laake family for sharing their story.
Year in and year out, heart disease is #1 killer. However, this happens to perfectly healthy people on a 1 in a 100 million chance. I can't speak to regular cardiac arrest, but for this AED's are 100% necessary to save a life. Ugh, heart wrenching
This is what happened to Damar Hamlin.
Exactly, commotio cordis, strong hit, in the right spot, with enough force, in a super tiny gap of time in his heart beat that causes arrhythmia
Exactly, all the people blaming the Covid vaccine for that specific scenario are out of touch with reality
@@SCCoon what idiots are doing this? Blaming (edit "either") the player Hamlin tackled for "hitting him," and stopping his heart is the worst media representation of the play broadcast coast to coast on MNF.
Seriously, where is "Covid vaccine," being blamed for causing the cardiac arrest of Hamlin?
@@One.DeSanctis. Basically every post on RUclips or social media that is saying he went into cardiac arrest because of commotio cordis has tons of comments blaming the Covid vaccine and somehow are getting tons of likes
