The cables of the charger are both complete black. How do you know the positive & negative lines??

Good point, I guess I am lucky by trying to connect the cable it was charged straight away. The charger should have polarity to indicate which is positive and which is negative. Unfortunately it doesn't.

The one from the charger that has wrightinhs and the one from adaptor which is red are the +.

For the new power supply, you can check the polarity by using the multimeter.
