Adam bobrow is more than just Table Tennis for India....he is the nicest person, he is the best, brand ambassador of table tennis around the world....but for some reason he is very close to us indians, we enjoy and respect him a lot....
Always great to hear from one of the top 5 best Table Tennis RUclipsrs ! Directly from the mouth of the players and RUclipsrs alike. Congrats BUT ON THE NOTE OF MAKING THE SPORT MORE ATTRACTIVE TO THE "not so knowledgeable audience" : DO I HAVE A STORY FOR YOU !!! (before your time of being popular on the Internet of course)... I am just a normal player/fan who ended up in the Arabian Gulf (wife's work with the UN). Shortly after my son was born I heard the Qatar Open was ON so I "begged" my wife if I could go watch it as it was 20 mins away by flight. So we did !! This is an experience I will take to my grave .... Being Portuguese I was hanging out with Marcos/Tiago and João most of the time, so I totally feel what is like to be able to talk and hang out with the PROs in our sport. I sat with Patrick Chila (like in this really hapening ?!?!) - I also speak fluent French) and I was mesmerized ... Dima, etc But in relation to the popularity "thing" ... this event WAS IT !! I will not go about writing it here but I will text it to one of you guys if you want to hear it. I never experienced it in my entire life... and I am old !! Maybe you can strategize with your knowledge and take it. I really wish your experience/connections can be used as everyone runs out of ideas. Cheers to all and your love for TT.

Hi Adam, I just got into the sport (both watching thru the Olympics and now practicing at a local club), but part of my fascination for this wonderful sports, besides it being so cool, it's your funny and awesome commentary through the Olympics, got me hooked from beginning to the end. Keep up being this nice person sharing positive vibes throughout the world, you sir are awesome! Cheers from Brazil 🇧🇷
Such a great podcast, I'll be coming back for more. Adam makes a great point about the importance of hard work not being for nothing. If we're not doing something we love, we're just treading water. Life is too short for that.
Great interview. Adam I am continually impressed by you. Like many I learned of you because of your youtube channel and I just thought you were a funnny and creative player. Then I met you in person when you came to open the Ping Pod in Cambrige MA, and you were the nicest and most gracious person even though you were clearly exhausted from travel. Now to hear you speak so intelligently about your goals and what success means for you... phew. I am blown away. If all successful people were as grounded and driven as you, the world would be a much better place. I hope that in 5 years you are still ponging and driving people to the sport. You've got a fan for life here. P.S. - John Long and the rest of the crew at Seacoast Table Tennis in New Hampshire (USA) say hello.
Wow!!! Thanks for sharing this! I am really touched to read your very kind words. I had a blast that night and hopefully you'll have a chance to see a video from it soon. Tell my long-time friend, John Long, and the rest of the crew at Seacoast TT I say thanks and hello as well. 8>)
The table tennis GOAT Adam Bobrow the goat player for me is Waldner, but Adam is the guy that made me wanna play more table tennis, i`m a beginner and now i love it and i have started to watch more professional table tennis. and my favorite current players are Gauzy and the Lebrun brothers as they are so creative and entertaining to watch.
Thanks to Reddit i was aware of this conversation , Adam is an eternal lover of Life and TT is the real life ...fight for a point fight for this that... as in life : beware of the snake.
@adambobrowshorts thanks for your gracious words about India. I'm happy we brought our league culture to TT and hope it's a resounding success and an example for other countries.
The idea of making table tennis better for TV is extremely important, and i do think WTT is doing a good job with the table colors and cool angle switches, but you also have to preserve certain parts of the culture and not change the game into something unrecognizable. Probably nobody here will know this example, but there is a mobile phone game called clash royale that is doing this. They have honestly ruined their game in the pursuit of monetary gain, it is a very loved game because of the strategy and chess-like elements along with the 1v1 aspect, but now with the addition of new character and abilities and game modes it has completely lost the charm that it used to have, and new aspects have completely broken the balance of the game and made it very unfair for certain playstyles. The plastic ball and the new arena, the terrible side angle and the bad editing are issues that WTT are creating. The Golden point luckily hasnt been added yet (and hopefully never will), but it is used in american competitions and basically leaves the outcome of the match to pure luck. Its just not fair for either player at all, the mental strength in the deuce situation is part of what separates the top 20 from the rest of the world. I cant even imagine what other rules and bad ideas could pop up, but they will spiral, i just know it. Certain aspects of this game should just remain untouched, as they have for the last 30 years. Certain rules are to the benefit of yhe game, but they need to be created with the players and the fans concensus, like adjusting the service rules. I can imagine giving the ump more power, but i can only see that ending horribly.
Thanks for having me guys! Always a pleasure to chat with you. 🥰
