In a statement, the Business Council of Canada called Freeland's resignation "deeply troubling" and said the concerns that she raises put into question "whose interests the federal government is looking out for".
Canada's public broadcaster CBC reported that Freeland's decision to quit was not expected today, citing a senior federal government source.
Freeland said she intends to stay on as a Liberal member of parliament, and that she will run again in Canada's upcoming election, which must be held on or before October.
Her resignation comes after another cabinet member, housing minister Sean Fraser, announced he will not be seeking re-election, saying he wants to spend more time with his family.

As much as I know you like everything being about USA, this fiasco evolving here in Canada is entirely domestic. Sure, tariffs are something no one wants, border security is a solvable issue with modest costs. However, our government has been running large deficits and has not been solving cost of living issues. Instead they wanted to send $250 cheques to some people while 25% of people live in poverty, up from 15% from 10 years ago. They are not fiscally responsible and spend money badly, resulting in being 23% behind in the polls. Also, Trudeau told the finance minister she is done on Friday, but expected her to still work the following week, which broke the proverbial camel's back.

  • @pin65371
    @pin65371 19 дней назад +10

This has very little to do with the tariffs and more to do with Trudeau not controlling spending. The main concern she has is that she didnt want to be spending too much now so if things go badly with Trump we would have more issues with managing finances. Americans are just looking at the Trump part of that letter and putting too much focus on it. The previous finance minister was pushed out as well because he wanted financial guardrails and Trudeau just wanted to spend. Trudeau basically fired her on Friday but still wanted her to present the economic statement on Monday so she just quit Monday morning.

Third, who gets to decide on the “morality laws”? The mission statement of the US constitution say “to promote the general welfare”. That means that sometimes the individual has to sacrifice for the betterment of all.
And finally, are you saying that it’s immoral to size money people “earned” from drug trafficking, or selling children? Of course it’s not! People are not just free to do whatever they want. There are rules to protect the common good.

    1) I am an American citizen. 2) I have no use for Trudeau, but calling him the Governor of the State of Canada is demeaning to Canada and our relationship with the country. 3) Chrystia Freeland made a legitimate argument, throwing money at voters when Canada is on the brink of a trade war is financially irresponsible. Especially when negotiating with someone who changes their position more often then most people change their socks.

As a newbie investor, it’s essential for you to have a mentor to keep you accountable.
Ruth Ann Tsakonas is my trade analyst, she has guided me to identify key market trends, pinpointed strategic entry points, and provided risk assessments, ensuring my trades decisions align with market dynamics for optimal returns..

I managed to grow a nest egg of around 120k to over a Million. I'm especially grateful to Adviser Ruth Ann Tsakonas, for her expertise and exposure to different areas of the market.

I don't really blame people who panic. Lack of
information can be a big hurdle. I've been
making more than $200k passively by just
investing through an advisor, and I don't have
to do much work.. Inflation or no inflation, my
finances remain secure. So I really don't blame
      people who panic.
