2:38 that was a great explanation between the two. Thanks for the great videos lately, I've been loving the consistency and look forward to new videos

There is a new audiophile trend of open Baffle Speakers (Rather then conventional Boxed Speakers).
Due to its structure, this speaker technology is most likely to be more sensitive to be affected by room acoustics.
This is not related to your video (which deals with room treatment and not speaker technlogy) but it would be very interesting to hear your opinion on the usage of open Baffle speaker vs room structure and acoustics.
    Thanks

Remember that the room only sees energy. It does not care about the source. It will react the same frequency and amplitude way regardless of source. Speaker manufacturers have been trying for years to limit the impact of energy within the room with little or no success. Most attempts never sustain. As a designer, you may use the electronics in the speaker and the dispersion array you have chosen to distribute energy but once that energy leaves the domain of the speaker cabinet, it belongs to the room. The speaker is a small "room" that is placing energy within another small room. We need a new speaker design. It has always been the weakest link in the electronic chain.

      shpater, you're absolutely right.
Dipoles energize a room entirely differently than monopole speakers.

This is the definition of baffle that I always use: Baffle - Restrain or regulate a fluid, sound etc.
We have baffles in our mufflers, septic tanks, trucks carrying liquids, Even baffles in some swimming pools to reduce the strength of waves in the water.
I still prefer using Absorb, Reflect, and Block. These terms seem to get the point across with folks who don't understand.

There are three main categories of treatment types. We have diffusion, absorption, and barrier (isolation) technologies. The problem with the industry is that they cross define issues. They use absorption when they mean isolation. They use diffusion when they are really discussing reflections. Its a mixed up bag of nomenclature that only confuses people.

I would be honored to have this gentleman critique my home theater, also absolutely terrified and embarrassed 😆. Like Einstein going over your physics homework.

"Run" is the operative word here. Run fast and far away from this idea.
