Sheesh, rhapsodic quixotic by Hunter van Brocklin was SO interesting. In-case anyone's wondering, what we're hearing is the NES being ACCOMPANIED by a live jazz trio (piano, drums, bass). Does that mean everything on the NES was programmed ahead of time, is it being played in real-time through a MIDI interface of some kind? Just felt so organic and free-flowing.
hi, thanks for the kind words! the NES does have a crude compressed "DPCM" sample channel ordinarily, but also, at the expense of basically all its processing power, it can do higher quality "PCM" sampling which is what deflemask is emulating here. whether you could theoretically play something that huge on a real system is questionable, for sure! cartridge space especially would be insane. but this audio was a render from deflemask. the sample portion does indeed contain every other part, plus some rendered effects (delay mostly) for the "NES synth"
Hello! 💖 I just watched this video and wanted to clarify something... 12:01 This is just a BY EAR remix of the song "PICTURE THE RIVERS," which can be heard in the Outrunners port for the Sega Genesis, composed by Takenobu Mitsuyoshi & the Sega Sound Team. I'm honored to be featured in the Deflemask Showcase 💖. Please visit my channel if you'd like to see more remixes. Special thanks to Mega Cat Studios for including me! See you soon! 🥰
