I'm an Aussie cyclist who grew up in the NSW high country (Jindabyne and Thredbo) but now living in the US. This film makes me want to jump on a flight home right now. Great work. I want to do this ride 2021.
I was doing some building on my block in Benambra when the cyclists were coming through town this year. Was cool to meet some of you, and chat to you, at the Hilltop Pub, and Benambra General store. Hope I can get fit enough to do this one day.
This video shows an area of Australia I had never seen before, I must have watched too many episodes of 'Aussie gold hunters"! Beautiful mountains and a great video and event - well done!
You make a great comment because Australia is known for it’s beaches and deserts, yet few people realise how many mountains we have. It’s a huge country. Come and explore.
@@tonygreen8221 we've got absolutely everything (and just to add to the list) including tropical (Daintree) and temperate (Tarkine) rainforests and everything in between
i ride north vietnam ,nepal , swiss ,malaysia and tasmania ,i think the hunt course is the finest course i have seen i'm starting that ride in jan 2023 and an old old man ...
Belated well done to everyone that took part. Boy did it look tough going. Some of us Brits are a little uneducated as I had never heard of the Australian Alps 🤔🤣. Definitely got another Sub now.
Inspirational. I completed the Munda Biddi trail solo in WA, a few weeks ago. Thank you for creating the video. I will ride this 2021 - hopefully COVID allowing.
Nice one for sure. Do long-distance walking projects months in a row with my walkingtrailer called ROADTURTLE. But often use bike tracks for inspiration
My partner and I are planning to cycle over the alps this year and although we will not follow the route of the Hunt 1000, we will cross paths with it a couple of times. What time of year is ideal to attempt this? Presumably at the end of May/start of June it will be freezing and snow? Anyone got any advice they can share?
@@healthycycles6078 Thanks for the response, mate. We're actually up in Queensland now! We've cycled about 5000km since we considered that an option. Unfortunately that ship has sailed! Again, thanks for the reply.
It can snow heavily from May onwards. I have a tradition of going out for first snow and have walked through a half meter in May. Can last a few days before it melts too.
I'm an AAWT hiker. If you blokes were seriously minded you would come off Hotham towards The Twins and Selwyn, down through the Woonangatta, across Howitt, King Billy, Down Brocks, along Low Saddle to My Sunday and then to Jamieson Licola Rd to Licola. Although, its probably too tough going for the padded shorts.
From what I understood from conversations with participants this year, they came from Mt. Skene down to Dargo, then up to Omeo. I think they skipped Hotham altogether.

appreciate the video. Nice to see Australian terrain I hadn't, but could you please, like with some many other RUclips travel videos, lose the distracting, teeth-grinding, generic "rock" music? No need for any music in this much less whatever's here.

the best thing can happen on those trips is not to know which day it is! great experience!
I spy a Chris King headset. Once a BMXer, always a BMXer!

Surprisingly, one of the best bikepacking video I have ever seen. And I have seen many.
I feel a bit ignorant that I had no idea Australia had this type of terrain and conditions. Great film.

How many kilometres?
@@vrk1131 1080 kms. Great ride.
This would be such an awesome ride to do 👍
I can't believe how light these guys are travelling. A great adventure but way too hard for this soft old rider.
Just started bike packing this year… see me in 2024
Thats awesome....."squared"
Epic
Mad as a sack of badgers. Chapeau
Nice video.... I am Cyclist from Indonesia
great, will you be doing another this year or next ?
Wow, what an awesome ride. Definitely on the bucket list. Is there a 2020 ride?
Tim Dart there will be nothing in 2020.
Will the HUNT 1000 be on this year ? And how do i get the details for the ride ?

Hi...from Mizoram 👍🤝😁😂
Incredible, now I want to organise one too in my town (if anyone is from Córdoba, Argentina, reply me jajaja)
I wish. Argentina is so beautiful! Cheers, from Canada.
Super bike 🚵♂️👍❤️🏕🌞👍
What headlight setup is that in the opening scene?
It’s the klite Bikepacker Ultra (not sure if it’s first version or V2). klite.com.au, it runs off a dynamo hub.

By far the best time is autumn, late feb and march. Forget june!

Um nobody mentioned the cabin from the epic movie " The Man From Snowy River"
You mean Craig's Hut?
Wow, didn't know that was in this video. That is one of my favorite movies. Do you know what time index?
Great video. One question. Are there spiders?
Yes but they're not really a worry
I would like to join you one day
what sort of bikes did you use?
Priyantha Bediwatta most of them are using hard tail MTB
I am Indian too
If you have back problems, I use hard tail with seat post suspension. Full sus is heavier, steals storage space, and probably not essential.
