Golden eagle attacks 8 yo girl at ethnofestival in Kyrgyzstan

- A golden eagle attacked a 8-year-old girl during an ethnofestival held at the southern shore of Lake Issyk-Kul, Kyrgyzstan.
The girl showed up in the restricted area, which was specially blocked off for demonstration of hunting birds in action. The released golden eagle noticed the girl, rapidly flew in her direction and attacked her.
The bird held the girl’s back with claws and pecked back of her head. The injuries were slight. The girl was taken to a hospital, where her injuries were stitched up.
Specialists say the bird was not hunting, otherwise injuries would be much more severe and the girl would not have survived. Even adults can’t resist such hunting birds, they said.
I once stumbled across a Turkey nest on a farm as a kid and had to run for my life. It was like Jurassic Park.

We have Golden Eagle here in Texas, and one picked-up my neighbor's Mancoon cat. Cats back had deep lacerations from the talons and her hair fell out. She's recovered but is afraid to step foot out of the house. Poor thing.
I'm sorry to hear that. We just had a new neighbor move in near us who's got a cat that they allow their cat to run around indoors and outside. I am trying to explain to her that we have 2 eagle nests, who knows how many red tailed hawks and a few different species of owls all within 2 miles from our homes. Unfortunately she doesn't realize that not all birds are not afraid of cats. She truly believes that her 8 lb cat would be capable of protecting herself. I'm genuinely worried for the safety of the cat. I don't know why so many people seem to underestimate the lethal capabilities of raptors
@@Dionysoshaman I would have never thought that an Eagle would go after a big hairy cat. So much hair. But, that's what protected her in the long run. The cat, years later is still petrified to come outside during the day. Currently, we have a Red Fox, that sleeps in one of our flower beds. I've seen them run thru the yards. @@earlofmar7987 I'm very glad to hear that. It's great knowing that your kitties are in your capable good hands! I apologize for the long length of the following anecdote but I hope that by sharing it with everyone here it'll hopefully prevent the same sad situation
I have a fenced in yard and a sweet 19 year old cat named Fatty Ding Dongs and a big fat crazy 2 year old cat named Pywackit and I still won't let my cats go outside, because of our feathery neighbors. Sadly the neighbors to the left and right of us who both have fenced in yards. The ones to the left have lost their two giant pet bunnies killed by a bald eagle in the middle of the day in front of their security cameras and the neighbors to the right had their big cat killed and torn to bits in broad daylight by a hawk and only one month later a great horned owl kil and carry off their Yorkshire terrier as they were calling her inside, only 10 feet from them. It's a really sad situation for all. The only one that I don't have to worry about is Ryoushi my 120lb American Akita/Karelian bear dog mix . I'm one of the least violent people you can come across, but I think if one of my furry friends was being attacked by a raptor, I think that I would kill the bird without hesitation and I would be very sad to do so, so I avoid the chance of this happening I play it safe and keep them inside and if you have raptors around please people don't let them outside and if absolutely necessary make sure to be right there for them
@@Dionysoshaman So sad, about your neighbor's pets. I'm with you, I would & have defended my pets. Killed wolves to protect my horses. Most of the time, my cats will listen to me. One big Turkish Vance, black & white, male cat would not. He always thought he could tangle with raccoon's or snakes or other stay cats. I'd tell him "NO", and he'd run after them anyway. Come home all banged up and end up at the Vet's. I have a big long porch and would let them out on the back porch. I can see them from anyplace in the house. Which is good but these raccoon's & possum's always come up looking for food. Then my neighbor starting keeping a bird feeder way out in the back yard. She might be onto something, b/c it keeps all the critter's happy & well fed. Birds, squirrels & duck's will all feed together at the same time. It's difficult letting our pets have some freedom. On the South Island of New Zealand there used to live a species of eagle called the Haast’s eagle. It went extinct about 600 years ago, but the Maori people have legends to this day about it carrying away children. And that eagle was way bigger than any living eagle species today. Its talons were the size of tiger claws and the force of it swooping down and knocking you down would have been similar to the force of a cinder block falling from a tall building. Imagine if the eagle in this video were that big.
So it sounds like the solution is to make big eagles go extinct?
The Haast's Eagle is estimated to have weighed up to 40 pounds(!), surprisingly with a wingspan of only 8-10 feet (though its wings were broad). This is short for such a heavy bird, given that many eagle species living today have a wingspan that size with half or less of that body weight. Its believed that the shorter wings were an adaptation to living in forest, where it needed to fly between trees. Their primary food source was the Moa, a flightless bird similar in general body plan to an Emu or Ostrich, but being up to 12' tall and 500 lbs. There were no large mammals on the island prior to the arrival of humans, and so nearly every ecological niche was filled by birds. The herbivorous Moa filled the role of ungulates like deer or cattle, and the Haast's Eagle was the top predator.
When the Maori arrived, they hunted the Moa to extinction, which ultimately led to the dying out of the Giant Eagles as well, by about 1445. Which really, is surprisingly recent.
What did it taste like? Love chicken me.
It’s a shame that they and a lot of other New Zealand fauna have gone extinct thanks to humans. Just imagine seeing a coastal Moa on the shoreline or a haast eagle in the mountains.

read the description she was in a restricted area , she wandered off because her parents don't give a shit
Not a Phony it’s funny how many people are too lazy to read the video description and would rather speculate with their wild assumptions lol
Unbelievable! Eagle had her face down on the ground in 3 seconds !
Yeah he was pretty good, kind of like he does it for a living.
Poor little girl! That must be traumatizing 😮
Its not the Bird's fault. Its the fault of people, why they enter the restricted area. Why they show that much of negligiency? What they wanted to prove? Where the parents have been? Totally wrong,Bad. I am so sad that girl is injured.
It's fault of the people that there are restricted areas to begin with. God put us above animals.
Either way that bird is dead because it attacked a human
@@vh9network it was demonstration with a trained eagle. They weren't in it's habitat
it was white people fault
@@vh9network despite your beliefs, you still need to respect the animal, they can't help their instincts despite all the training people do to try and prevent these incidents, the point is, she shouldn't be there, it's her parents fault, there are rules and restrictions and they failed to oblige to them and, sadly, paid the price.
When I was kid I went to my neighbors home who had a buffalo 🐃. I tried to touch buffaloes horns and it shook it's hard so hard, I flew in air and fell on my back. My mom came for rescue later
oh god! That was really scary an unbelievable. Is the Eagle alright?
She will die of infection unless treated straight away but still there is a chance she won’t make it. They have the most contaminated talons out of all predators.
Doubt it, since I don't think it was a wild eagle.
Seen it on Southwest wildlife foundation. Martin Tyner who is an eagle specialist.
If you search ‘When Martin got 4 talons through his hand’ you’ll find the video on RUclips.

These eagles can lift a small child/infant of 1 year old easily or kill them in minutes. Great parenting by the way.
All it would have taken was just few bites at her neck. She was crying pretty bad it seemed like it was attacking her face, maybe her eyes.
Not going to lie that was a clean and precise strike !
That's nothing try being cornered by a Casuari. I had an encounter with it once I was 9, when the casuari that escaped the aviary stepped in front of while I was walking in the middle of a bridge. That bird is straight out of the Jurassic world, luckily I remained calm and a group of teenage boys saved me by diverting it's focus on me through playing the guitar.
Hah, try an ostrich. Literally was one of the scariest moments of my life
Cassowaries are one of the most dangerous birds on the planets. They can kill without hesitation. Thank God those boys stepped in.
@@Wambario ostrich are more docile when with humans, than casuari. Those birds had a penchant of escaping the aviary and goes after people, that's why everytime one of them escapes the put the nearest houses and establishments on lock down.

he can not lift the girl off the ground or even a goat or a dog he can only be allowed to plan a cliff
mister Élie yes they can. I’ve seen it with my own eyes ! Literally flew off with a goat from ground straight up into the air.
Eagles can pick up from the ground only half of their weight.
But they can clid from a cliff with five times more of their weight.
This is the kind of unnatural activity that happens when you keep wild birds in captivity for human entertainment and gratification.
A wild eagle would not attack a human like that.

My husband was driving home from up north when he spotted a bald headed eagle circling directly above his vehicle. It was a green vehicle. All of a sudden the eagle dove and went right through his windshield, glass and feathers all over the inside of the vehicle. Best we can figure out is that the eagle thought the green vehicle was either a turtle or a frog and looked like a good meal to it.
Also had an eagle go after my mother's cocker spaniel in her back yard. They are birds of prey and will go after anything they think they can carry away.

The evolution theory is very flawed.
You're right. You have to realize in this world that there are beasts and they will eat you alive. Look up hippopotamus hunting videos it just showed up on my RUclips recommended I watched it and they will attack you just from sight.
