Never tell a person your exact date of leaving. Am from Jamaica too, too much questions leads to robbery. Be one step of a person always. In Paris from the train station, one driver took twenty minutes to the hotel and another took ten minutes same route. The first driver tells us the same thing meter not working. He told us to call him for tours, we never did. People are scammers in every country. Be safe and let iland hold on to your bag strap and tell him don’t let go. They can grab and put him in a car and drive off with him. Please be safe.
Some people would ask "how long have you been here" to find out if you are new and unfamiliar with the life and places there. If you say you just arrived they would con you and take the longest possible routes etc. Sometimes we have to lie by telling them we have been there at least six months or more. Fiji is a nice place with very friendly people but there are few opportunistic people within the cities. You would know them when they are so overly interested in you. The best thing to do is say "thank you but we are not interested" then walk away. Fresh groceries are pretty cheap in the markets.
Why would that taxi man ask if u renting n how many days??? Steer clear of those type of questions in future travels (Give them wrong answers). Ppl are weird always keep your guards up.
Why tell them your intentions and information of your air n b and other personal things.....it can be dangerous for you guys and I agree you must keep island close.
Your interaction with the fish market staff was actually quite rude. “You can see my face, I’m not happy” “they either wanna make money or they don’t wanna make money”. How ENTITLED. It’s your responsibility to know opening hours and be there on time - not anybody else’s. If you did that here in Australia, they’d put you in your place.
We didn’t interact with the staff in any way besides ask them what time do they open? I guess your interpretation of what I said might sound rude to you but when we asked where is the fish shop someone rudely pointed out that the fish shop was inside not outside where you see the man tell us it was closed. So basically you only see what we showing you. How am I entitled? Just by voicing my honest opinion.
Hi Mariah you should allow hubby to do the market shopping the next time why you talk like foriegner and act like one they will kill u with the price same here in jamaica
