  • Below ground in the Victorian Nothe Fort; spooky and dangerous without lighting before the 30-year restoration.     Thanks for this Stuart. My sister (from another mister) used to hang out there during the early seventies, drinking and wotnot. She's always telling tales from those times, about the so-called whistling gunner and the coffin room. Happy days for her.

    Many thanks. Long time ago now, but I was on my own when I took those old photos. Very dark - no lighting; the smell of damp; gaping holes in the floors and things dangling from the ceilings! It was genuinely scary.

    i know that no one will probably beleive this but this is my home town and when i was 7 i went on a school trip here. me and my class were walking down this corridor when i saw a miltary mans shadow i told my friend but he couldnt see anything and it was right in front of him and nothing was casting it. i have only been there twice since then and i havent seen anything again

    I played in there and saw mates climb the cable but we just to jump onto the flat room Now pulled down.
